    Shots of the horse race for the Queen Mary Stakes. Horses including: St. Tropez (ridden by Jimmy Lindley), Barra, Vierge Royale, All A Fire, Pindarna, Brassia (ridden by Jack Purtell), Bugle Call (ridden by Val Faggotter), Wind Song (ridden by Greville Starkey). Brassia wins and is led to the Winners Enclosure.
    Good shots of 'posh' people eating picnic and drinking champagne as they sit at table by car. More shots of crowds and of women in hats.
    Various shots of the Royal Hunt Cup. The Queen and the Duke of Norfolk watch the parade ring as does the Queen Mother.     At that point in June 1964 Ascot still only staged Flat racing. The first NH racing was in April 1965.

    I remember watching all the 1964 Royal Ascot meeting on BBC. They covered 3 or 4 races each day. I was 15 at the time and played truant from school.

    Great to see Doug Smith win the Royal Hunt Cup , timing his run to perfection on Zaleucus , five times champion jockey , he was a master around Chester especially on Lord Derby s horses .
