Great review. I have a mini cube but the looper and drum machine are a game changer. Realistically for me, don't need the mic or batteries so it seems like a perfect upgrade.
I'm thinking of getting this, was also looking at the Rolland gx10 and black star, orange lol I need a modeler and drum machine. Man I miss monkeying around on my zoom h4n with the built in effects and 4 track. I want something that I can produce versatile sounds with
so this is a decent drum machine ... to fully use it and the looper you need to buy the foot switch. that bumps up the cost so..... if a drum machine is what you need in a modeling amp, that should be priority #1. I cant speak to blackstar or orange. You tube if full of reviews.... I'm very happy with the vox! but I paid $80 for the footswitch as well as the unit (amp).
I started with a Roland mini cube GX. After watching your video had to get a Vox mini go 10. So... began hunting the used market until I found one cheap. Absolutely incredible amp. It's several classes above the Roland. This Vox is the E-ticket ride (dating myself with this comment..lol). Needs to have the foot switch...to make it easiest to run. ONLY complaint...wish there was some way to save loops. Thanks Uncle Mark for the heads up on this amp...it's awesome.
@@unclemarkscigarboxguitarlesson Good review just the same, and definitely has me interested. Maybe even the 50w. It would be interesting to see how long it lasts on a USB power bank. BTW, keep up the good work. One of my favourite CBG channels!
Thanks for the review, Uncle Mark. I have the Vox mini5, which I really like but it doesn’t have as many amp sims or looper. I can live without the additional sims( though it would be nice to play around with that vocoder!) and I already have a boss rc1, but I really wish the mini5 had a blues rhythm or a swing function. Nice playing and what a beautiful guitar, the look and sound are top notch
Pretty cool UM. I got a Mooer 6 months ago that us pretty neat but doesn't have all the stuff that Vox has. Thanks for the great review. Keep on rocking!
I know, Getting the battery (Amazon Portable Charger Power Bank 25800mAh), as an extra and having to pay extra for the footswitch is a bit over the top .... but Vox seems to get other things right.
Well, I guess I found my new amp going to order this today. My guess that item on the back is for you to run cables through. Thanks for the awesome video once again!
@@unclemarkscigarboxguitarlesson I found that in the PDF manual afterwards of course. Lol. Have you tried the Vocoder with a microphone yet? Let’s hear it!
Thanks for doing this. Would never had heard of it otherwise, probably. Absolutely want one now. You're right , no footswithch with it here either. Would it have to be a vox switch? Would it have to be a 3 button one as well?????
I recently acquired the Boss 50 Katana. It has bells and whistles too, I thought I’d need them. I seldom use them in lieu of pedals. It’s a wicked little amp but I’m liking that Vox sound. Do I need another one? Hmmm…Can you have to many amps?
Uncle Mark I play harmonica like a lead guitar and jam with my friends, sometimes there are 5 other instruments in the room and my Junior fender is turned as high as possible but others claim they can’t hear me. The reason I have a small amp is to be able to carry it with me. But I could use more volume. Do you think this vox could be a step up?
acually not... Ive now found that's it's for protection. If you turn the feet out, so the amp is angled diagonally up, it likes to fall over and if it does it will break the plug ins (footswitch, battery input, electrical input. The unit already comes with a carry strap. So... I'm gonna keep it on.
Nice review man, love your talented cigar box g. playing 🎉
@@luisbarillas7768 thanks. I really like this amp

The cube is great, and I love mine, but this is better

It’s a fun little amp. As with most things there’s room for improvement. The foot switch is really essential
I think that little "handle" thing is to protect your cords from breaking off in the amp if it gets tipped over.
Yes, I agree after playing thru it a while

Great review! I’ve had mine about 6 months and absolutely love it!
Great to hear!
Just got one. Thank you for the review!
@@jamesellettcigarboxguitar thanks
I'm thinking of getting one of these. what do you think would be better for busking the 10 or 50?
I debated this exact thing, and went for the 10. The 50 only delivers more volume, not better features. my 2c

Great REview & a Great AMP by teh sound of it... just a shame that it doesnt cme with a Rechargabe Batery too to make it even more portable ?

I now realize it's because if the amp falls over it will protect the power inputs. I could be smaller though.

Oh baby I am so sold on that ❤
Great review. Very cool amplifier. Thanks.

Are you doing a gig in AZ? I would love to go!
No, I'm going on vacation to do some hiking/climbing

The one that goes with it is $69US and is a 3 button, I'm told it's programmable. I will get one.
Mark ... if you add a looper pedal, where do you plug it in on the amp? The auxiliary port?
you would put it in front of the amp like any other looper, but this amp has an "onboard" looper. So you don't need an auxiliary looper

I'm not sure... it's definitely not a "Band" amp.... I would go for the 50 watt or the Roland Street Cube GX
@@unclemarkscigarboxguitarlesson thank you for the advice, I’ll look into your suggestions.
Has anyone tried this amp with guitar and vocals? How does it sound?
It sounds very much like a roland cube.... vocals kinda sterile, but with reverb can be very servicable
That bracket on the back is a carry handle .

ps I use a mesa boogie amp simulator .😊
The Mesa sim on this amp is really close to a dual rec
