The first thing i learned ( 45 years ago) was a " mummy daddy " Roll . 2 on the right and then 2 on the left. Start off slow .Speed up evenly and in sync .At some point the sticks will start to bounce for them selves . Tighten it up for a perfect roll . After that .I found i could pretty much do most things .
both are equal, left and right. but I am ambedextrous and a beginner snare drummer. I can already play the rest of the traditional band instruments , am working to afford pipes for pipe band. am snare drummer in the meantime! :-)
Thankyou for this lesson. You mentioned another video for learning doubles and to watch that first. I am sbscribed to your channel but I can't find this video, please help! Thanks, Jon, Melbourne Australia
Jings mannie, Just like that all ? Crivvens , oor teecher ne'er tellt us a' that. No wonder I couoldn't get the head around it. Often Pingle on a Tractor wheel or Oildrum with a screwdriver, when I'm seeking inisporation on a workshop job. NOW I need to find time and a pair of proper ( BALANCED ?? ) drum sticks to have a go on the end of an old oil barrel or large tin can. Next stop tuning an oild rum lid as Steel Drums .... Thought for Noise! Slàinte Mhath
Thanks, that really helped with my buzz rolls. I found the left easier. I’m new to pipe band snare drumming.
I’m So glad it helped Ryan. What would you like help with to help your drumming improve?

For some reason, even being brand new to traditional grip, the left is easier. Thanks for the video.
I’m so glad it helped! How long have you been drumming?

Awesome, thank you! This video might help ua-cam.com/video/3kin4FDItfk/v-deo.html
left stick is most difficult. Not nervous yet.
How could you strengthen the left?
Definitely left most difficult.I am right handed.
Left is still harder for me and I'm LH. I think its the more difficult stick grip.
Keep up the focused practice.
I totally understand. How much focus do you place on the left hand development?
