- If I spent a fortune at the grocery store with no itemized receipt showing what I got, my wife would smack me silly.
The government says it's spending over $10B/year on infrastructure but has no list of projects that add up to the total. So, where did the money go? (I asked the Parliamentary Budget Officer).
So can Canadian tax payers tell the CRA that they don’t have “a list” of income during an audit?

If I declare a tax deduction on my annual taxes, Revenue Canada wants to see the receipt. If I can't produce the receipts, they will reject my claim. However, the government spends my tax dollars, and doesn't save the receipts and can't produce any record of why or on what they are spending our money on.
