I read The White Princess by Philippa Gregory last month and it made me realize how bad Elizabeth of York was depicted in the show. Don’t get me wrong, I really appreciate both TWQ and TWP ; but I thought by the time I watched TWP for the first time that there was a complete lack of cohesiveness in Lizzie’s character. Reading Gregory’s book helped me understand this character I’d hated so much by the end of the show. In fact, Lizzie was completely powerless in her husband’s decisions. She was torn between her former house (& lover !) and the fate of her own legacy. Now, I truly think she might have had the most difficult role in the war of the roses.
That’s why I wanted to make a video focusing on her and not only her relationship with Henry. The main subject here is the weight of culpability. I hope you will like this video as much as we do !

Modus et Boar Channel Phillipa Gregory bases most of her stories in fiction rather than on historical fact, I recommend the book Elizabeth Of York A Tudor Queen & Her World By Alison Weir for a more truthful file on Elizabeth’s life. And by the way it is a biography.

if you are interested in the real historical figures try to read something for them because Gregory does not say that truth for them at all.

I absolutely hated her in TWP too and I was so annoyed, because I loved Lizzie in TWQ. So this was nice I feel a little bit of compassion for her now. Great song for this dynasty.

I'd love to see you do a video centred around all the women who lost sons throughout all the series (and the scenes surrounding the deaths and losses); Cecily Neville, Elizabeth Woodville, Jacquetta of Luxembourg, Anne and Isabel Neville, Margaret of Anjou, Elizabeth of York, even Margaret Beaufort in a way. It's such a sad common ground for them all.

Okay, so it's time to start my comment. Honestly, I thought it would be a video about Edward IV or Elizabeth of York. I'll start with "cosmetic"matters. I think you've used a new font. There are far fewer quotes of the characters this time. However, I liked the coloring you used the most. It's quite dark, the color is not so saturated, it's much softened and comes in tons of blue and green. I think this is what you wanted to relate to the life of Elizabeth herself. Since childhood she knew the taste of war, fear, danger, battles and death. Her death itself wasn't "dreamlike". It was a sad "turn of events" like a lot most of the situations in her life.
Now, however, I would like to refer to the lyrics of the song itself, which was used.
    1. "I should have known,
    I’d leave alone,
    Just goes to show"
I will now refer to a longer part of the song, but to understand it well you have to hear that Elizabeth was in love with Richard. By this passage one can understand that Elizabeth regrets the lack of prudence in falling in love with her uncle. She doesn't regret that she fell in love, but that she hasn't noticed before that life almost always "plays tricks on her". So now she has to be the wife of Tudor, whom she does not love, but she has to show something else.
    2. "That the blood you bleed is just the blood you owe."
She has to show that she wasn't in mourning after Richard's death and her heart wasn't bleeding. Elizabeth has to show that she didn't consider Richard as a family. Forget that they had any blood ties.
    3. "We were a pair,
    But I saw you there"
Another passage that refers directly to the refrain. Elizabeth trusted Henry, but he abused it in his own intrigues. He hurts her.
    4. "Too much to bear"
The scene, where the queen pulls the crown matching masterfully! The crown as a symbol of duty for family, country, expectations, worthy representation of one's family (father) and great stress, and envy.
    5. You were my life but life is far away from fair.
That's what I was referring to. The life of an English princess marked by war, fear, danger, battles and death.
6."Was I stupid to love you,
    Was I reckless to help,
Was it obvious to everybody else?:
Elizabeth's doubts after the time when everyone saw that Richard was using his niece's naivety. The princess cannot agree with that, hence these questions.
    7. "That I’d fallen for a lie,
You were never on my side"
Words of some disappointment to both Richard and mother. They both used her in a way, putting her in situations and "turning their backs on her".
Both of them, in a different way. Mother was on her side first, then she turned her back on her. It was the other way around with Richard.
    8. "Are you death or paradise?"
A reference to the fact that almost all her life as a woman, princess, queen, wife was a puppet in the hands of others. A strong reference to a rather submissive relationship with the husband.
    9. "Now you’ll never see me cry"
I understand that as a certain principle of Elizabeth. She's been through too much to cry on someone's shoulder, especially when that person can die soon. She doesn't want to give satisfaction to others and to Henry.
    10. There’s just no time to die
Reference to all unexpected death of Elizabeth's relatives. Not at "good" time.
    11.
    "I let it burn,
    You’re no longer my concern,
    Faces from my past return
    Another lesson yet to learn."
And here you are! You know perfectly well that I love TWQ flashbacks. She sees dead people's faces in the faces of his relatives. Among other things, the face of his beloved father. "Let it Burn" is a certain attempt to forget the past.
"You’re no longer my concern [...] Another lesson yet to learn" It's an attempt to teach the cold to others. Regardless of the past.
▪Moreover, I have a few more words about the text and the scenes themselves
    1. "Are you death or paradise?"
To raise doubts about Henry. Was he a death to Richard and the York family? Or was it some kind of deliverance to Elizabeth herself? Quite a symbolic question about Tudor.
    2. Scene 2:12
The back of the York brothers, including her father, the king. The memory of the mighty family, the mighty England, the great plans of her father.
    3. Scene 2:17
Elizabeth saw her brother and then showed the same woman as a girl. Extremely happy. The opposite of the current situation.
    4. Scene 1:53
A ring of her mother. A symbolic reference to the past. The ring was certainly given from your father. A symbol of the presence and care of the dead. It gives a pattern. The desire to be happy like her parents. Showing up as a powerful woman from a powerful family. Strong.
    5. Scene 1:36
Perfect matching of the moment when Richard sits on the throne next to Anne with the words "You were never on my side". Very symbolic.
    7. Scene 2:30
Symbolic scene with a pool of blood on the floor and colored "to learn" in red. Elizabeth remembers the consequences of sending boys under Richard's care, to The Tower, and how much blood it shed. He must learn how to avoid similar mistakes and neutralize the threat. She knows perfectly well that the predentant can win. Her sons' life is in danger.
What's more can I say? I love it!

@@modusetboarchannel5666 Yeah,me too. I think in The white Queen at first Richard refused to admit that he is in love with her.
The very first kiss scene of them proves that he suddenly ranway from her. But the camp site scene showed it. He didn't meant to love her because Anne was the one. But after her death he must have been turned to her for comfort. Anyway The White Queen scenes are my favourite of them, like you said I also love how they represented their relationship
