I experienced something similar to the last story when I was 17. I was house sitting for my auntie and looking after their 3 cats. One night I woke up and could hear loud thumping and crashing downstairs like the place was being trashed. I was just frozen hoping they wouldn't come upstairs. My father has only just started telling me about the things he witnessed in his years on the force. The one I found most disturbing so far was when he found a group of six people seemingly resting by a campfire in an old war tunnel, he knew something was wrong and ordered an evacuation. Turns out there was no ventilation and all but one of the six had asphyxiated from carbon monoxide. The report said they were planning on having a camping trip in the woods, they were only found because the owner of the war tunnel had reported seeing trespassers on his property and needed police assistance to eject them as this wasn't the first time.

I put this video on expecting to doze off listening to them, but instead I caught myself listening intently until the very end. These stories are chilling. Love hearing personal accounts from people in the force or some kind of military background as they have a very credible and unique perspective on supernatural mysteries.
I gotta he honest... this is such a better way to tell a story than what this channel normally does. This whole sub series is the best you folks have done as far as I'm concerned.
I have always respected the police in England, they are always cheerful and neighbourly yet someone you can trust in difficult situation. I was in a horrific car accident and the first one to arrive at the scene and picked me out of the car was an officer. Forever grateful. Love this kind of format, honest and chilling stories. Like a friend telling you their experience. Thank you for all the good episodes and the laugh at the end 😂
As an American whose roots are in the UK I've always been secretly proud that the officers across the pond don't indiscriminately murder civilians. I'd like to go "home" someday.
My father was a copper too, he's heard and even witnessed numerous strange incidents. We live on an island that has quite a dark history, mainly incidents like "haut de la garenne", "Victoria Cresent murders" and "the beast of jersey" to name a few better known stories.
The channel Islands also have their own form of "Bermuda triangle" as many planes have disappeared over the English channel. We all remember that footballer who died a few years back, his death is just one of many that occurs on a yearly basis. There was even the UFO that caused a sonic boom over the islands in 2011, the government were kept either kept in the dark or didn't release the full details on what caused. Many speculate it was a fighter jet on training manoeuvres, bit it is strictly forbidden to go supersonic over a populated area. What I heard was there had been an incident at one of the costal nuclear power stations on the French coast and air support was required.
The most disturbing one I heard from him was the deaths of five people inside an old war tunnel. He was the first responder and he found them around the campfire some 100m into the tunnel, he ordered an evacuation due to carbon monoxide. Most of the victims were doa, only one of the six survived. These tunnels are quite eerie too, phantom sounds can be heard in them, mainly the sounds of birds chirping and metal striking rock.
As someone who grew up in the Midlands (Shropshire/Wolverhampton border) the idea of being in Dudley alone at night is scary enough without anything supernatural.
Simon turning the flashlight off and on in the first story got a good chuckle. The simple, mundane thoughts we have and/or actions we take when confronted with the thoroughly unusual are funny. But I think the second story highlights a professional behavior that sometimes gets completely disregarded in anomalous phenomena circles. Everyone just assumes that the authorities *really* know what’s going on. But what no one ever really wants to acknowledge is the possibility that the authorities don’t know anything either. Maybe they know more details about what happened or how often it happens, but that doesn’t mean they know *what* is happening. Simon saw something he couldn’t explain and gave the best rational answer he could; the anomaly didn’t get treated as much more than a joke by a rational organization that has no room for irrational phenomena. I do appreciate that parting sentiment though: some of these things really are above ones pay grade.
I am the owner and operator of bar and grill in Texas. The building has strange goings-ons, I have been pushed and pinched, as have some of My staff over the years. It is just over 150 years old, not really that old but in those days Texas was a pretty wild place. I know from the property abstract that there was 2 deaths there. One freak accidental death by falling in around 1910 and one murder (knife fight) around 1880.
Thanks again so much for putting captions up on all these videos! Those of us who are hard of hearing and might not be able to understand every word, it REALLY helps!
I really enjoyed those accounts. I had an odd experience of my own a couple of years ago. I was working at the office one Saturday morning, catching up on a bit of work I was too tired to finish that previous evening, when I detected a bit of motion. Maybe. Well, I looked up expecting to see somebody, but instead I saw a quick flash of red. It was so fast, I decided that it was a trick of the light. Well, years ago, a man was killed in an accident on the premises, and we've had strange occurrences such as doors unlocking by themselves, people seeing shadows and hearing voices, the usual sort of thing. I mentioned my experience to my coworkers, and one of them remarked that the man who had died usually wore a red shirt. I had never known about the red shirts until that point. Does somebody watch me when I work alone? Maybe.
This episode terrified me more than any other and I’m not sure why. My guess is that it’s because you have an actual person telling you what they experienced and not a third person account.
After 2.5 minutes of watching a steadily burning candle flame while he introduced spooky stories, I turned my screen off and turned my smartphone over. Then I still felt a little weirded out so I unfortunately had to stop the video altogether.
I think it's well deserved. One story randomly appeared on my UA-cam wall one day. I watched that video, then another, then another. The narration and the stories are well represented and professional. I grew up in Texas and Colorado and plan to hopefully retire and grow old and retire in Colorado, so I do admittedly search for stories related to the Southwestern U.S, but I have enjoyed the stories regailed by Bedtime Stories. Thank You.
How is it possible That these keep getting better? I can't tell you enough how satisfying these videos are, or how much I look forward to them. Thank you for all your hard work and effort
I really have to wonder why someone would thumbs down such a captivating and articulate telling of personal encounters with the unexplained. This is by far one of the most plausible and believable matter of fact accounts presented thus far by this channel. Well done mate.. WELL DONE..
The fact that this was a more informal video, like a chat, definetely helped make it scarier and more believable. In regards to the last case, maybe it was a recording?
man...I gotta say...I have been deep diving into these stories and this channel in particular for about 2 years now, and IMO this one is easily the most compelling First person from the perspective of a police officer is something i usually don't and probably wouldn't indulge in, but this made this personal storytelling even more relatable than the ex-military ones. These personal stories are standouts for suree ...Thank you guys..
I stayed 'til the end and was rewarded with a blooper. Niceeee. Good video. Those were some pretty bizarre experiences. Thanks for sharing them with us.
I live very close to the locations mentioned in this video and I got the chills. Normally, the stories take place in the southern US, or eastern europe or some other distant and interesting place. But hearing similar creepy and unsettling stories from not even a 20 minute drive away is something else.
The haunted house with the kid in the window honestly gave me chills. I watch a lot of these sort of videos. ALL of yours, a lot of LAZY MASQUERADE, TOP 5S, CORPSE HUSBAND etc. And only a handful have given me legit Chills. This one and your other personnel stories vids are by FAR the best content you have ! Awesome stuff
I had an experience similar to Simon's first one. I was around 16 and was at summer camp with some friends of mine. We were walking back from a campfire we'd all had that night when we saw a shadowy, male shaped figure standing just inside the tree line. It was a full moon, so it was bright enough to notice the difference between the shadowy trees and this black silhouette. As we approached, we got a very strong sense of dread and my friend pulled me back from reaching out to touch it. Anyway, our counsellor came back and called us all in to bunk down for the night. The next morining, we approached the area where the silhouette stood and the leaves and grass where it was standing (hovering?) had turn brown and withered. I've never seen anything like that since or before (nor do I want to). Not sure if it was a shadow person, a ghost, or whatnot but it acted kind of like Simon described, including just vanishing into thin air.
This was great. There is something especially compelling about stories from the personal experience of the storyteller. It's all the more creepy when we know for sure it's no urban legend.
Thank you , not only for sharing your stories but also for your service to the community. Even though I am in the US I have found that it's the good people that make this world better. Not about where you are from or anything but the fact good people make good friends. Now bad people should be afraid because good people are rising up and are sick and tired of living in fear. Anyway thank you for all you do.
I really enjoyed listening to this, and yes these things are very real and always have been. Once you leave your body you give up your solid form, but you still exist. Just like unseen light, in the right conditions like a slight mist and you can see something that is not usually seen, plus the spirit has to want to be seen.
"i know it was silly but i tried turning the torch and off again hoping she would magically reappear" sounds pretty logical to me. if she magically disappeared, what's so weird if she magically reappeared?
Police officers and Security guards usually have some of the best stories. I'm a security guard and have had a few weird little things and have heard a bunch from people who have too
Hearing the stories from the horses mouth is always pleasant. But even when YOU do them on behalf of the team they still sound like train of thought - which is amazing.
I think its great to get to hear from each of you in turn and i look forwards to the next one. you are all amazing and the work you put into this channel is fantastic. Simon, keep doing what you do! you're an amazing guy and a great writer
hmm nope i don't think that would work .. you would lose the point totally ..it would just turn into a site with a "next weeks special guest" , where would the writing and storytelling go if all you have to do is to just record somebody else's account and play that on the channel? .. it would lose something.
Writing for Bedtime Stories? Dream job! I know Wolvo pretty well as I lived in Telford for many years. There seemed a dearth in paranormal shenanigans in Shropshire. Although I lived near Trench I never even saw "The Wraith of Trench Pool". I moved back to Scotland a few years ago and have held mainly night shift jobs since. The majority of these have been working alone as a security manager and that meant patrolling a former psychiatric complex, an abandoned care home in the middle of nowhere and driving along one of the most haunted roads in Scotland. All of which means my tally of personal spooky stories has gone up considerably. I class it as a perk of my job!
When I was a youth many many years ago my father was a township police officer. I remember some of his colleagues, county deputy sheriffs, telling about paranormal incidents they had come across. These were straight-laced no-nonsense type of guys so my views on supernatural events changed from then on.
So many people have stories of things that can't be explained by science. Asking people without judging, or making fun of them is the best way to learn about these things. I've been waiting for this video since the last personal story and couldn't of loved it more! Keep up the great work!
I honestly adore this aesthetic... The b&w moving illustrations with that pop of color in strategic places just really do exactly what they're supposed to do: creep you the hell out. I love it.
I love everything about this channel especially the accents I'm from northern California and you people over in the UK talk quite a bit differently than we do it's fun. 🎃👍
Loved the narration. Almost felt like a chat down your local with a regular, was that comforting in detail. In doing so myself a few months back with a kind of grandfather in law of mine over a few cold beers. Being Scottish by descent and leaving the highlands for Gibraltar just after the second world war, ended with him leaving the navy and joining the Gibraltarian police force. Gibraltar rock is well known for its mile long tunnels and mini cave systems through out its huge stature, some still unexplored in full depth to this day. Unfortunately for my grandfather in Law some training consisted of paper work duty within a now no longer used stretch of tunnel with its offices stationed in the middle of these two vast ends of tunnel. Trainees in particular were usually paired off in twos when on night duties, but this one particular evening was stationed alone and of course he's first time within the tunnelled office. About 20mins into his lonesome shift he made himself a cup of tea before plonking his self back behind the desk, where for in his usual boyish manner even to this day flicked the still piping hot tea bag into the bin which barely made it to its desired destination and ended up at the foot of the slightly ajar entrance door. Paying no attention to his failed feat getting his head down back into the papework his met with the wet slap landing of the very same teabag he lobbed 45seconds prior onto his desk. Stunned and confused he quickly checks the door down both tunnel ends thinking probably colleagues attempt at tom foolery. Now the confusing part here is its 4am and a good 40 yards from the office to the mouth of the tunnel which was viewable to the eye. No sounds of foot steps or sounds at all for that matter apart from the tea bag landing on his desk. scientifically impossible to get to both ends of the tunnel in a matter of seconds. We were the first to hear of this story which is plus 60years old. I think the moral of the story here is put things back where they belong because you don't know who's watching....
That was brilliant! Very spooky indeed. My only thought on the first one was maybe it was a vixen screaming. They do sound eerily like a terrified woman.
@@seriousguy2160 I’d have to give that some thought there are so many good stories and mysteries. There is a little known one from just outside Lowestoft. The old man of Hopton. Very interesting back story to the often seen spectre.
I'm not sure what a vixen implies, but here in the US, we have cougars/mountain lions/pumas that sound exactly like a woman screaming. It's truly horrific. I would most certainly rather happen upon a ghost, in that particular situation. 🐆🐾
Loving these personal stories. They are very intriguing. One thing I have changed is how I respond to these stories. The person can fully believe without a shadow of a doubt they went through it. While we can be skeptical we should help the person feel their telling their truth.
Interestingly enough, The Yuba Boys was also the first Bedtime Stories video I stumbled across (I grew up in Chico, where they went to the basketball game) and was instantly hooked on this channel. It is, by far, my fave UA-cam Channel. I've watched every one prior to this one, and am on my way to the most current.
This is such a great episode, one of the best I've listened to, not gonna lie. However, as English is my third language, it sometimes difficult to follow the pace of the narration. The illustration really helps but I usually listen to this kinda story while driving, so..
Loving the personal stories. Especially since they're things that may not be already in the public domain. I believe 9 in 10 people have a personal story of the strange/paranormal that they may not ever tell anyone else (I myself have at least two). You guys rock!
Amazing, exquisite and just wow I love these stories so much. I believe there's a lot of things out there that will one day (hopefully not this year) show themselves.
Simon@BedtimeStories Thanks very much for sharing your highly interesting stories, Simon, doubly interesting coming not only from the gifted writer of these fantastic BS stories, but also coming from a serving policeman ! I agree with what you said about the English Midlands, coming from Warwickshire myself - which I left when I permanently moved to live in Germany, but the beautiful midland counties steeped in history, and the friendly people have always drawn me back whenever I could. Once in one's blood, the Midlands never really let you go - even if you wanted to, which I for one would never want. So, thanks again Simon, and all the best from an expat Midlands man - from Steve, Hamburg, Germany (ex Leamington Spa).
These are amazing, I love the personal stories most of all. Hearing them from the mouthes of the people they happened to make them that little bit more real.
That last story will stay in my mind probably forever & I'd love to spread it. The physical world is held together and created by the unseen, and just because we can't see it doesn't mean it's not there.
I have a personal experience very similar to the last one told in this episode. Back in 1983, I was 6 years old and my Grandmother had passed away about a month before this took place. My Grandfather had a mistress that he’d been having an affair with for about two years while my Grandmother was sick and before my Grandmother passed away. I didn’t know this at the time of course but found out later, after I was older and my Father felt I should know. Anyway, my Grandfather had put his house up for sale almost immediately after my Grandmother’s funeral and moved into a new house with his mistress and soon to be new wife, which was about 25 minutes away from his old house. My Dad was a police office, and we lived less than five minutes from my Grandfather’s old house, which was now sitting empty and for sale. About a month after my Grandmother’s passing, my Grandfather called my Dad and told him that the next door neighbors of his old home had called and said they hear loud crashing and banging coming from the house. Since he lived 25 minutes away, and had been drinking, he asked my Father if he would ride over and check it out. So my Dad hopes in his truck and heads over to my Grandfather’s old house. When he got there, he saw that the light in the room that had been my Grandmother and Grandfather’s bedroom was on. He got out of his truck and heard a sound that he described as the sound of someone trying to tear through a wooden door with an axe. My Grandfather’s house had a basement and on the back of the house there were two large wooden doors that opened into the basement, that could be used for storing a lawn mower. My Dad drew his revolver and flashlight and made his way around the side of the house expecting to see someone breaking into the doors on the back of the house. He turned on his flashlight and there was nothing. The doors were intact, with no signs of damage and there was no noticeable damage to the windows. He checked all the doors and they were locked. He made his way back around front and since he had a set of keys, went in the front door, turned on the lights, announced “POLICE!” and proceeded to clear all the rooms. He opened the door to the basement and cleared it. Everything in the house was as it should have been and there was no damage. My Dad turned off the lights and left, but said he had a very uneasy feeling while he was in the house. I personally feel like it was my Grandmother’s spirit looking for my Grandfather and she was angry about his mistress. Anyway, about three nights later the neighbors again called to say that the lights were on in the house, but this time there was no loud crashing or banging. My Dad didn’t go over to the house this time!
I think this is my favourite of all the episodes you've done. A personal story from someone speaking from the heart. Thank you, Simon.

Alas, the plod in Hampshire are piss-poor.
As an American whose roots are in the UK I've always been secretly proud that the officers across the pond don't indiscriminately murder civilians. I'd like to go "home" someday.
@@sarahoshea9603 What some of them do and get away with is a disgrace!
Only a complete coward would shoot an unarmed person in the back!
That was very good. He’s a very convincing narrator. Straightforward and down to earth, ya can’t go wrong!
Didn't know Simon was a copper. I like hearing these stories from police officers, because it makes them a bit more believable to me.
My father was a copper too, he's heard and even witnessed numerous strange incidents. We live on an island that has quite a dark history, mainly incidents like "haut de la garenne", "Victoria Cresent murders" and "the beast of jersey" to name a few better known stories.
@@laurencebois5119
Care to share one or two tales?
@OPENYOUREYES ANDWAKEUP Dude, you are so edgy! I bet the panties just drop when you walk in the room.
As someone who grew up in the Midlands (Shropshire/Wolverhampton border) the idea of being in Dudley alone at night is scary enough without anything supernatural.
😂
Very good. Better than what I was expecting. You can hear and feel his honesty and integrity.
"**Wind his neck in= Pipe down**" Love it. Stay safe, constable Andrews.
I can see the Wren's Nest hill between rooftops from here. These stories are getting worryingly close to home.
I know how you feel, I live near the canals in Manchester, England.
@The Icelandic Nationalist Yeah, ide like to know more about those aquatic Icelandic ice serpents.
I used to live on the wrens nest estate, dodgey area, seen things over the nature reserve myself
@@shadowdaemonn4541 What did you see?
I agree!
You can also reduce the playback speed.
oh yeah, i live next to a highway and it would b hell having to keep rewindin' just to catch a phrase...
These are such a nice treat for special occasions like these. They really help humanize you guys and make us feel a personal connection to you all.
I’m a cop in the US and I love hearing your personal paranormal stories from being a cop ❤ much love man
I really enjoyed those accounts.
Maybe.
Yep I agree! This is t best episode ever. It's obviously an authentic true telling... which makes it double scary!!!!
The two "personal experiences" videos are hands down my favorite.
Thank you for your service Simon, and thank you for sharing! Stay safe.
One of my all time favorite episodes chaps.
Cheers!
Can’t wait! 🎃Happy Halloween everyone! 🎃
One of, if not the best episode on Bedtime Stories to date! Congratulations lads!
That was absolutely brilliant. Definitely one of my favourite episodes.
Man personal stories are always the best, and all the best to you writer
The haunted house with the kid in the window honestly gave me chills. I watch a lot of these sort of videos. ALL of yours, a lot of LAZY MASQUERADE, TOP 5S, CORPSE HUSBAND etc. And only a handful have given me legit Chills. This one and your other personnel stories vids are by FAR the best content you have ! Awesome stuff
The personal stories are the creepiest, my absolute favorite!
Since my birthday is soon, I consider these stories a gift for my birthday. Thx for your work and the existence of your channel. It's a piece of art.
Police story + firsthand story = gold standard for spooky stories.
FANTASTIC STORIES!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
"i know it was silly but i tried turning the torch and off again hoping she would magically reappear"
sounds pretty logical to me. if she magically disappeared, what's so weird if she magically reappeared?
Police officers and Security guards usually have some of the best stories. I'm a security guard and have had a few weird little things and have heard a bunch from people who have too
Hearing the stories from the horses mouth is always pleasant. But even when YOU do them on behalf of the team they still sound like train of thought - which is amazing.
I think its great to get to hear from each of you in turn and i look forwards to the next one. you are all amazing and the work you put into this channel is fantastic. Simon, keep doing what you do! you're an amazing guy and a great writer
The translations really helped me as an American. Thank you. Very intriguing and spooky personal accounts too
The blooper was gold!! 😂
Love the personal element of this
Wish you would interview actual people more and just record the interviews.
That’s a great suggestion. Bedtime Stories, pay attention!
Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. They need to do that.
hmm nope i don't think that would work .. you would lose the point totally ..it would just turn into a site with a "next weeks special guest" , where would the writing and storytelling go if all you have to do is to just record somebody else's account and play that on the channel? .. it would lose something.
@@kittyhawk9707 you would just have to have a special series within bedtime stories
Here here. I second that!!! Brilliant idea!!!
Simon was a joy to listen too
I feel like i just had a drink at a bar with a good friend about his paranormal experiences. No BS, and all honesty, mad respect
Wow! The same happened to me. I first watched "Boys from Yuba City" and couldn't stop watching!
I first watched the ourang medan
This and the Dyatlov Pass Incident really left an impression on me.
This was also my first video of theirs.
@@rewatteefroimchuk8589 Bedtime stories should really make a video about the infamous Flying Dutchman
@@seriousguy2160 now that would be interesting!
What video do u think ther should make next?
@@seriousguy2160 I’d have to give that some thought there are so many good stories and mysteries. There is a little known one from just outside Lowestoft. The old man of Hopton. Very interesting back story to the often seen spectre.
Cool
I'm not sure what a vixen implies, but here in the US, we have cougars/mountain lions/pumas that sound exactly like a woman screaming. It's truly horrific. I would most certainly rather happen upon a ghost, in that particular situation. 🐆🐾
I thought the same
Loving these personal stories. They are very intriguing. One thing I have changed is how I respond to these stories. The person can fully believe without a shadow of a doubt they went through it. While we can be skeptical we should help the person feel their telling their truth.
Absolutely outstanding video. Personal stories told by the people who experienced them are always the best. Great work. Great narration.
This is my favorite episodes. Do more like this, please😁
Love love love these stories from First Responders/BTS Staff!
Big respect Simon - being a Policemen takes a special kind of person. You're also a pretty good narrator...hint hint. HAHAHAHAHAHA
This is such a great episode, one of the best I've listened to, not gonna lie. However, as English is my third language, it sometimes difficult to follow the pace of the narration. The illustration really helps but I usually listen to this kinda story while driving, so..
@@samahita-vca You can slow down the playback without loss of quality.
You put it perfectly....sometimes there are things we can't explain. It boggles us and we can't even explain what happened.
I like the last sentence "it is well over my pay grade". Could not have summed it up better 🙂
Glad to meet you Simon! You seem like a great lad.
Also to the bedtime stories team, keep up the great work. Love you guys.
Great story. Really enjoyed how you wrote this one. Thanks for sharing!
Simon@BedtimeStories
Thanks very much for sharing your highly interesting stories, Simon, doubly interesting coming not only from the gifted writer of these fantastic BS stories, but also coming from a serving policeman !
I feel like I’ve just been sitting next to you at a bar and you’ve been telling some weird stories from your life.
Next round’s on me!
These are amazing, I love the personal stories most of all. Hearing them from the mouthes of the people they happened to make them that little bit more real.
Drop the mic, Nice! Thank you for sharing.
That last story will stay in my mind probably forever & I'd love to spread it. The physical world is held together and created by the unseen, and just because we can't see it doesn't mean it's not there.
I'm glad there's a channel like this, otherwise we as a society are all just self policing policeman.
These personal stories are terrific, great job gents
Great story
Grandma was raging! Grandpa was lucky he wasn’t there.
I just have to say this is THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD ON BEDTIME STORIES. THANK YOU SO MUCH SIMON IT WAS TERRIFIC TO SAY THE LEAST.
