  • Regrading your question: one cell dividing into 3 cells. It's actually dividing into 2 cells and not 3 cells, except that one of the daughter cells will have two nuclei instead of one nucleus, hence we call them binucleated cells. If you watch the video carefully, you'll notice that too. How does it happen? Some cells contain three or more centrioles (these are cylindrical organelles involved in the development of spindle fibres during cell division), resulting in multiple poles. This leads to the cells pulling chromosomes in many directions that end in multiple nuclei found in one cell.

Prophase- -chromosomes condense and become visible in the nucleus. Nucleolus disappears and nuclear membrane breaks down. Pair of centrioles move to the pole to the cell. Proteins begin to form spindle fibres which attach to each centromere of each chromosome and the move to centre of the cell
Metaphase- Spindle apparatus is complete. Chromosomes are lined up on the equator(centre)
Anaphase- Centromeres divide into two and spindle fibres shorten which causes the sister chromatids to move to the poles.
Telophase - Sister chromatids are at the poles and spindle apparatus breaks down. Chromosomes uncoil back to their chromatin state. (DNA coiled around proteins called histones) . Nucleolus reappears and nuclear membrane reforms. Mitosis is complete and the cell proceeds into cytokinesis
Cytokinesis - The central cell membrane is pulled inwards by the cytoskeleton which creates
a groove or furrow which gradually deepens. And eventually the membranes fuse to form two identical cells

There is an intermediate stage between prophase and metaphase called "Prometaphase", when the cromosomes are full condensed but they still being organised by microtubules until they form the metaphase plate.

@@ironsandhammers359| There is actually such thing as tripolar mitosis (as in three nuclei resulting), but it usually happens in cancer cells.
So that might indeed be a cancer cell, but cytokinesis doesn't need to happen. Mitosis is just nuclear division, not the whole cellular division process.

Looks as if there is consciousness acting there. Especially since Penrose and Hameroff are talking about some relation between consciousness and microtubules in the brain. If there is such a connection, then it must be everywhere, including in cell division.
