Relentless One I think Meth is just putting things into perspective. At the time everyone was saying that Nas was done when Jay dropped Takeover. Nas was seriously considering ending his music career because at that time his mother had cancer & he just wanted to care for her. But she encouraged him to keep writing, which is when he decided to respond to Jay. I feel Meth is saying what would things be like had Nas decided not to respond, how different things would be in Hip Hop.
There is no beef with Nas or Jay, listen to the entire piece, not just one line. Pretty much he said where would they be without that track because it raised them both to new heights, but if you ask them if they'd want to do it again "he doubts either" one of them would. Then he went on to say which one of us would want to see that again, followed by saying neither would he.
