Although the early 1960's footage is more atmospheric, this is a stretch of SM Blvd. that is not very interesting - then or now. HOWEVER, the wonderful music gives it a haunted quality of going back into the past. Thank you for this.
The black on yellow California license plates on these cars would indicate 1962. These were replaced by yellow on black plates, in 1963,and you could not use the old ones. Yellow on blue came in 1980-81, and you COULD keep the old black plates which are highly prized, on original cars today. Recent legislation allows vintage plates to be reactivated. DMV also now offers "retro/repro" yellow on black tags.
Wonderful video, what's the son'gs name, it sounds super nostalgic. Greetings from Ecuador I'm Latin. I hope you don't hate me for being latin, I'm humble and friendly. Thanks.
Not a park, that's the front of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. The previous owner of the cemetery was in debt, so he sold off most of the Santa Monica Blvd frontage for strip malls keeping only the cemetery entrance area in the middle.
It's a very good question. I tried to utilize less 'fish-eyed' modern images. I think I could do better now with some sort of lens correction image manipulation.
The pavement looked so smooth and brand new in 1960 or so. It looks awful now and everything is so seedy.
I really like the way you stop the action to switch between years. And great music!
Vibrant & beautiful then, and now ? ? ? Wonderful street lights (Alhambra-style) gone.
I worked on this stretch of SMB at Bronson from the end of 1978 until the beginning of 2020. Saw a quite a few changes over the years.
Then Came Bronson (1969)
I attended the SM Blvd elementary school on the corner of Van Ness in the 60s. You can see some kids playing in the yard.

Another brilliant video,fantastic!!
Great content on your channel and just subscribed. So interesting to watch what it looked like driving down many streets.
Thanks for coming
Looked better in the 60's.
THANK'S AGAIN....WOW!!! COOOOL!!!

But the new ones are easily distinguished from the 60s plates.
The blue plates came in 1970-71. 1980-81 brought those white plates with the red letters and numbers.
I think that's what I meant. It gets confusing. And movies and TV make mistakes.
Not the 1950's, there's a 1961 Falcon at 3:00.
I guess it's the time to change the video title...
Also a sweet '60 Cadillac coupe.
GREAT SEEING YOUR VIDEO AGAIN TWICE YOU SEE MORE,,.. FOR EVER HOLLYWOOD CEMETARY IS STILL THERE ..2:05 ,,ON THE RIGHT SIDE..
I LOVE THIS VIDEO

Yeah love to know the song too. Sounds like TAXI DRIVER.
It's a shame they got rid of the park (green space). Put a mini-mall in it's place. 😥 One of three I saw.

@@mitchbart4225 . Thanks for clarifying. 👍
1960s: 😃
2020s: 😭
(because of music)
Wow good memories 👍❤️
That Sears lasted surprisingly long. Probably until about ten years ago.
You are right, the building has been empty since 2008.
@@kaktotak2521KakToTak preparing now to demolish to build production sound stages.
Except for the vehicles it doesn’t look much different from today
Way better in the 60s - nice and clean, pavement in good condition, and no Japanese cars.
Back then everybody were driving american cars ... Today they are mostly imports . 😢
Looks like early 60s.
It easily could be early 60s , however, the original video title 'insists' on '1950s'.
Yeah, many of the cars are early 60’s models.
I agree. Many automobiles are from 1959- 1962. One person was driving a Ford Falcon, which was released in the early 60's.
Why switch to the other side of the road for new images?

@@kaktotak2521Where did you get the original 1960s footage?
Well, that's my span.
They demolished a lot of buildings. Parts of the city look empty.
There is less utility poles
We have not made much progress at all, mostly just changes.
The 2020s looks way better then the 1960s. That's 50 years before I was born.
Imagine how amazing the city would look again if the city’s government actually used taxpayer funds in the right way..
