Bravo
Terrific horn sound! Would love to hear more standard lit with him playing.
Reinecke is an underrated and almost unknown composer, since his very numerous works (almost 300 in almost all genres) are generally considered as too conservative at a time when major changes occurred (Liszt, Wagener, etc.). Nevertheless, within that language, he had some top level inspirations, and namely in his three 'atypical' trios, two of them being for piano, horn and one woodwind instrument (clarinet here, oboe in another). We can hear a very typical writing style, which is for instance very different from Brahms's both in his horn trio op. 40 or in his four late music chamber works with clarinet. We do not find here neither the epic sound of Wagner with its usual harmonic complexities, nor the automnal melancholy of Brahms, but a freshness and transparency which could surprise from a rather old man.
