  • AI-restored/colorized film of Lytham, England in 1903. The original old footage is from Mitchell and Kenyon collection.
The black and white footage is silent. Adding more layers of textures with seasoning flavors and correcting the mismatch, I redesigned/remixed the soundtrack during the restoration based on Guy Jones’s work, subscribe him here: / bebopsam1975
Please note that the color data may not represent the historical data, it just gives us the best estimation of the historical scenario based on deep learning.
Listed below are the AI technologies used in my “AI-Restored” projects:
    DAIN (add frames): github.com/bao...
    DeOldify (colorize frames): github.com/jan...
    ESRGAN (upscale frames): github.com/xin...
    Virtual Dub (denoise frames) github.com/Pav...
I would like to offer my biggest RESPECT to the developers making these technologies possible, I am developing my own deep-learning platform based on customized data base I am building up. These AI tools should be better and better when I keep training them.
Other software used in my projects:
    Adobe Illustrator (logo/font design)
Adobe After Effects (motion graphic design/visual effect design)
    Adobe Premiere (video editing)
    Adobe Photoshop (photo design)
    Cubase/Adobe Audition (sound design/remix)
    DaVinci Resolve (color tuning)

I cannot believe the quality of the film. In fact if you took he trams away it doesn't seem as though much has changed and it could almost be an Edwardian Event on the Green today!!

Exactly, Alan! The Tram technology changed not too much over time. the driving force may have different forms. The mechanism is the same. The Great Britain is so called as "Great" must have a reason! I also was amazed by the old piece of achievements in the 1900s.

This is the world 117 years ago, just one year prior to the outbreak of Russo-Japanese War. People used to live as we do today, and I cannot believe that all people in this film are gone a long time ago.

If you use Google Maps you can find exactly where the camera was on Lytham Green to film the first few minutes, the windmill and spire of St John the Divine church are still landmarks today. I could watch these films for hours.

I have a very basic question. How did ppl deal with sweat after a long riding from home to work or after exercises. They wore so many layers, did they shower or bath every day? Or this is when perfume is used?

By then new houses would have had bathrooms in the middle classes but everyone would have washed at a washstand everyday with water and soap with a flannel.
