I was a 50’s babe, my dad was an RSM. As soon as I was old enough, I was taught how to clean and polish my shoes. 😉 Something I actually found most enjoyable through the years. It surprised the heck out of most of the men in my life! I even taught one or two. 😆
Got my pass out in 4 weeks. Just passed BC2 and did Bayonet Training this morning which was rats as it was the morning after coming off exercise where you’re sleep deprived but it gets all your negative emotions out. But yeah, I was always watching this video before I started to get me excited for basic. Now it’s surreal to think my dream is going to be a reality soon. All I have left is Drill test, RFT, BCD test. Can’t think of anything else. For those with a date of have recently started. Training will get shit, you’ll have moments where you want to leave but just work 110% and push yourself through adversity and remember the reason you’re there in the first place. Work hard at all times and don’t give up. Don’t take anything personally.
@Bluepurgatory1 pity your into the wrong stuff. I stay not far from Glasgow Green. Think the pipe championship is just a racket😁 I'm mean how can u even judge who is the best bagpipe player they all sound they same🙄😁🇬🇧 only real 12th is here or Belfast. Southport Benidorm etc do a good show tho🇬🇧 Gibraltar looks a nice place to go for a walk🇬🇧😎
I remember that parade square from 20 years ago, people falling over on it in the winter. Hanging, doing drill after PT 😫 And had some cheeky hills out the back as well
Great video. Selection date is on hold at the mo as Pirbright is closed. Not even sure when I will do that now. Was only trying to join the reserves. Any tips will be welcomed as I’m lacking motivation now
Ted Wave-ruler Keep at the fitness mate my phase 1 unfortunately got cancelled and I’m waiting on a new date to go down to pirbright so best advice would be to just stick at it and keep up the fitness
Always hated Friday morning at Pirbright, in a good way though 😁 get off nights only to have the band practice for ages outside my block lol I never slept on a pass off Friday
We'll done girls and guys, I hope you all go on to doing inspirational things for Yourselves, Country and Commonwealth, I salute you all. Look at me, I started as a Army Private in 1976.
A great day and a landmark day in the whole process. I remember it with fondness, marching onto the square with the families watching. A lot of us were Intelligence Corps so the band jokingly played us something James Bondy, and knocked out the theme from Skyfall. Well done to all.
Same here, did my basic and pass out parade in 1990 at Blackdown Barracks, then went to Germany and got issued the SMG. I think we were the last to pass out there with the SLR as the next intake were using the SA80 as it came into service in the RAOC.
Amazing that in just 15 wks that we can turn a ‘normal’ person into a solid wall of defence. My son is currently there 17Jan 21 for 12wks & can already see it’s influence in his demeanour 🙌🏼🧡
I was high as kite on my pass out parade, I tweeted a ligament in my knee 3 days before and the only way I could march without a limp was to dose my self up on strong painkillers. Got through it, then my knee went completely 2 days after and I ended up on crutches. Need to drive those heels in, bit too casual.
24/10/2003 for me! Seems a life time ago, I was seventeen, I’m now 37. It’s changed somewhat, I was Lucknow troop in the accommodation directly across from the gym, not sure if it’s still standing as it was in a state then
Well, from an old American cavalry corporal, CONGRATULATIONS to HM newest soldiers. I remember graduation day in my Basic Training course very well even after all these years.
Yet again great video Fabziy. I was at the Guards Depot, Pirbright 83-84. I always look out for old places I remember when watching your videos and this one is full of them amazing to see the drill sheds & Adjutants office at the end of the drill square (known to us as the golden acre) I’m 53 now but still take inspiration from your videos to help with my fitness.
Fabziy, thanks for posting these videos, my son wants to join the Army but they have reminded me of my RAF basic training at Swinderby as an Airman, Finningley as SNCO Aircrew and finally at Cranwell as an Officer. You are absolutely right to focus on mental fortitude and determination to pass as both of these qualities are required for when you go onto service in your branch, trade, regiment, squadron, corps or where ever you find yourself. It doesn't matter the branch of the military you join, basic training is where it all begins and you become a sailor, soldier or airman first; and where you make mates for life.
Good to see this; unfortunately problems with anxiety finished my army career in training, same thing happened when I joined the reserves. Good luck to all who passed out
I find it very cool how they March with their own weapon that they literally use for combat. You see all these other soldiers using like old 1930 rifles but using your own rifle makes it rlly special
They're training unit weapons, they stay at the Depot when the troops move on to their battalion. Apart from that no one gives a feck which weapon they get, it's just a tool for the job.
Ayy they look good. Idk if those boots are just for drill or not but they're definitely different... hopefully if I'm ever deployed I'll be on a base with the stars and stripes and the union jack. Then I'll feel extra bada**. Edit: Most of these comments appear to be from other Brits Why am I here?
I've heard that the British armed forces are one of the best in the world. I would say the American armed forces are tops too and not to forget the Israeli armed forces.

Hey fabziy hope you doing great mate. Hope you're well. I had my initial visa refused when i got my invitation then a few months later the home office overturned the decision and it's now been given. But since my initial visa refusal even my CW application was withdrawn despite intensive training for basic training etc. Now I'm in a limble what could be the best advice 1) I reapply again which will take long 2)I travel to the UK & walk into the careers office or 3) perhaps get in contact with my old CSM manager. I'll appreciate your kind response.
Well done to all but I believe it's not the seme as the guards depot. I don't know if anyone experienced the assault course and the Queen Mary plus the the confidence course way up in the trees.
Septum Juncta In Uno...and the sand hill and march and shoot ..1978 ....Quis separabit like yourself i still look at it as the Guards depot ..but respect to these young people they look great
May sound like a stupid question but do you have to get tapped out like in the US or do you all parade off after? Hoping the latter since I have no-one who would go and support me in my career choice so I'd just be stood for ages otherwise
God I wish I was still in the army but a stupid tiny fracture on my right big toe over 6 years ago now some how renders me unfit for army service for the rest of my life. Even though I'm 100% fit. Just crazy that
The weather makes it looks extra special. Fabziy, thanks for sharing!
It really is!🔥👊
Not seen a mist / fog like that since I did my basic in 1995!
That was pure class, drum Solo makes you so proud to be British 🇬🇧
Yo...that last side angle of the troops in sync was really impressive! I can't wait to be apart of the British Army!!

Very refreshing to hear a British Army band play drum cadences. It’s a very war-like sound and makes this video quite unique.
Good job lads and ladies! Keep it up and enjoy the rest of your careers!

Nice parade practice. Great to see them giving it plenty of swagger - we Brits really do do drill the best! Well done 🍻

Did my training with the infamous 7.62 SLR in the 80's.you know you had a real man stopper back then
THAT rifle
@The last Saxon. Yes Sir, we had them 20 years before you , NZ Army. Far East Land Forces. Malaya early 60s.
