    loved it the top of my trim was incredibly hard to take off.. but the wiring for my new head unit is so confusing with the GM OnstarGMOS-LAN-03 LAN Data Bus Interface that you have to use to keep the turn signal noise.

    Hi I have a 2009 chevy malibu and I was wondering can a 2009 gmc nav system work in a 2009 chevy malibu?just the radio it's self not the nav

    • @FourBeatShufflin
      @FourBeatShufflin 6 років тому

      I think you're asking if the radio can be moved from one vehicle to another, and it should be able to. Chevy and GMC are very similar. You might need to purchase a wiring adapter but past that it should work.

    • @raymedina9507
      @raymedina9507 7 років тому

      u could heat up a really thin nail or something metal thats thin and shove in the broken aux slot and you hold it their until the metal cools . the broken aux tip should melt onto the hot nail as it cools. careful not to melt any plastics though.

    Thanks for the video - I am actualy trying to replace the silver-colored plastic bezel(?) starting to be removed at 0:51. It is stamped with "PT 1002928" and 119461, but I am not finding it online anywhere. Any advice?

    • @garzav129
      @garzav129 9 років тому

      Tom Schulte Did you find the plastic bezel for the malibu labeled pt1002928? Because i'm looking for it too and can't find it anywhere..

    • @tearaway2
      @tearaway2 9 років тому +1

      Victor Garza This is how I found the bezel shown removed in this video and verified it matches my VIN:
      1] Go to www.gmpartscenter.net/
      2] Enter VIN
      3] Navigate to www.gmpartscenter.net/chevrolet/malibu/20989772/2012-year/lt-trim/2-4l-l4-gas-engine/body-cat/instrument-panel-components-scat/?part_name=center-bezel or the equivalent interior trim page for your model, but it is probably the 20989772 | center bezel that you seek.
      4] note Part No is different than what is stamped on the bezel:
      20989772 | CENTER BEZEL 2012 Chevrolet Malibu
      5] Note confirmation: "This part fits your 2012 Chevrolet Malibu"
      6] Pick the color of your dashboard, not the titanium or whatever it is of the bezel itself. 20989772 is actually an assembly wit 1002928 as one of its constituent parts. In the video from 0:50 to 0:58 you can see the "ears" of the bezel coming off with it. Your part's color when you order is that color (I think the video shows "ebony"). I believe the bezel itself is always the titanium-like shade.

      There are a few on ebay too(factory new) for a couple dollars less with free shipping. These things are so fragile and easy to break. Expensive to replace, and used ones are hard to come by. When I bought my malibu it was cracked at the very bottom, and I tried to pull the plastic out and inch or so to get some glue behind it. As soon as I pulled up on it, the bezel shattered into several pieces. The dealership said they break these all the time too.

    Do u know if I can replace my aux port?

    • @kevincoenen4473
      @kevincoenen4473 8 років тому +2

      Fixed mine. Don't know if you ever got around to it, but I had the same problem and did mine yesterday. Here's what I did
      First of all, I don't think it was the tensioner inside the port. You can get to that without desoldering, but that didn't fix it for me. I think it just needs to be resoldered.
      So follow this video to get the radio out. Then:
      * Pull the antenna cable out (pulls hard, but will come)
      * Pry up the 2 blue clips inside the 2 other plugs
      * Remove the 2 cables (the blue clips are inside the clip, so once they are removed, push the lever in if that makes sense)
      So now you have the radio entirely out.
      * Remove the 2 small gold screws on each side of the faceplate (4 total). They are 3/16"
      * While prying up the 4 small clips (2 on top, 2 on bottom), remove the faceplate
      * Here's the hard part... remove the 8 very small screws from the light pipes. They are like 1/16" or something, and I couldn't find a socket. I used a crescent wrench and a needlenose.
      Motherboard is now removed.
      * Desolder the 4 pins for the Aux port
      * While pressing it down onto the board firmly, solder the 4 pins back on. Be careful not to bridge along the 2 small dividers between each side of pins.
      * Maybe for good measure, push/bend the tensioner pin in a bit anyways.
      Reverse all steps:
      * Install the board and 3 light pipes with 8 screws. (They all need to be in. I tried to skip one of the 4 on the big light pipe, because it's in a weird corner, but then the eject button wouldn't register because the board was pushing back.)
      * Press the faceplate back onto the main unit
      * Insert the 4x 3/16 gold screws in the side of the faceplate
      * Plug the 2 cables in, and press the blue clips down. (The one on the passenger side has an additional sideways clip, so you know which is which) Press the antenna cable back in.
      (Now we're back in the video)
      * Bolt in the radio with the 7mm screws
      * Bolt in the A/C unit with 7mm screws
      Press trim back on all around the unit, and down around the shifter.
      DONE!
      It's really not as hard as it sounds... This is a very thorough description. But my Aux port works again.

    Um can someone please tell me how the hell to pry this off at the top? I cracked mine about 2 weeks ago at the very top right clip. It took WAY longer to get off than I anticipated and actually I had to put it back on to make a dinner I planned on later that day. Anyway, I just tried taking this off again, even prying away at the top right / top left corners and they JUST WON'T POP OUT. Even with the cracked one on top. I am scared that I'll break the plastic around the top A/C vents. Seriously, what gives. Any tools I can use to pop this off? So frustrated right now....

    • @cjmoore4298
      @cjmoore4298 10 років тому

      There are clips and tabs that hold the wings in at the top. you need to carefully pry from the bottom until the clips pull out of their inserts, then the tab can come out by pulling the rest of the wing downward.
