This video was a real treat. I’m a Yooper born and raised (now practicing below the Bridge), married a girl from Florida, and next month we’re heading up to Copper Harbor for the first time! Your travelogue was helpful and fun. Thank you 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! You should have fantastic colors when you go. We were just there shooting a video on the Porkies and the colors were just starting to turn. Ask your wife if she ever went to Ichetucnee Springs in Florida. We filmed there this year and it is a really neat place she could take you to.
Adding this video to my list for September bucket list trip to the Porcupine Mountains and Copper country. I can’t believe I am a 72 year old lifetime Yooper and this will be my first trip there.
Looks like a great place to explore.. I was told my cousins bought a bunch of property somewhere across MacBridge maybe upper peninsula they wanted to save the gorgeous trees because a lot of cutting going on. I love that they did that!!! Saved for future generations..Such a good program!! ThankYou!!
Very nice memories, it's so pretty and interesting up there. We met "Snickers" the skunk at Delaware Mine in the Fall of 2021 and he was so tiny! And the owner Tom was able to take time to explain and expand on some of the trinkets and displays at the end of the day as the crowd had thinned out. We actually still have a small decorative jar of Maple Sugar we bought at the Jam Pot just a few months before Father Basil passed away. Not far from there is Mount Bohemia where we got to do a ski lift cable car fall color ride, with fog covering most of the top of the ride on the mountain. Memories and pictures of Keweenaw in Fall we will keep as it was so beautiful with the red and orange and yellow leaves everywhere. And the view from Brockway Mountain...whew. 🍂
Great Memories. For such a remote place it is surprising how much there is to see and do. We easily could have spent several more days there. I would love to have explored more of the ghost towns. The history of that place is incredible and the natural beauty is limitless.
Thank you! You just made our night. We did another video on Ironwood and another on the porkies you might enjoy. You live in such a beautiful part of the world!
There was a motel across the street from Jacob's Falls. We use to vacation there for years when I was I kid. The holding pond at the top of Jacob's Falls broke one year and destroyed the motel.
I took the trip up on hwy 41 but went past the end of the hwy onto the logging road and was forced to continue. Loggers working the woods told me to continue to follow the trail but be very careful glad i had 4 wheel drive to get out of the trail it was fun. Would i do it again? No it is my own transportation to go back home
Hi there - great to hear from you. I wish I could give you an answser, but as I've never been to Copper world in Calumet and we filmed this a year ago I don't recall the exact prices. I can tell you that we were not struck with it being too high, and felt it reasonable enough that we bought more than just the muffin. I hope that helps a little.
Planning a trip in fall 2024, have dog with us & bad knees like to find easy hikes dog friendly. Possibly kayak or condone with dog she’s 18 lbs. any suggestions?
Hi there. Thanks for reaching out. If your trip is just to the Keweenaw I would say Jacob's falls and the falls in eagle river are little to no hikes. Going up Brockway mountain in car would give you great views. If you go further south lake of the clouds in the porcupine mountains is dog friendly and has a boardwalk ramp to great views that should be easy on the knees
@@Lovenesters Randall's? They are good... great, flaky crust. Next time in our area, try Krupp's in Twin Lakes (roughly midway between Houghton and Ontonagon, on M26).

Calumet was almost the capital of Michigan...Pasties are so good eh!

Sounds like an adventure and one that you need 4 wheel drive for. I bet it was pretty all the way at the tip! Thanks for watching.

Thanks! We never felt we were saying it right! Thanks for watching.
How was the Thimbleberry Jam?
We put it out for all of our family members to sample and they inhaled it! Very yummy, great with pretzels.
@@Lovenesters❤
Was wondering if this jam was mentioned, good stuff.
How are the prices at the jam pot? Compared to stores like Copper world in Calumet?

My top 2 are Monk Trails off Eagle Harbor Cutoff Road and in Hancock the Maasto Hiihto trails, specifically the River Trail up to Ruby Marsh
Did you have a pastie in Calumet?
We did not. We have at 3 different places in the UP. Our favorite is in Wakefield.
Best pasty in Laurium right next to Calumet at Toni's Country Kitchen
@@LuHouserr Thanks for the tip - Now I'm hungry for a Pasty!
