This is an absolute Modern day MASTERPIECE! If this was written in the good old 70's hey day they would be talking about this song some forty years on, it really is that good. It has a seventies vibe to it albiet with a modern twist. Nineteen minutes of HEAVEN!

Yes, this would have probably achieved some success in the mid-seventies bu tit's still got a contemporary edge, as Phideaux is inspired by so many artists and has his own style, he's got such a large musical culture, it's amazing. . I tend to prefer Doomsday Afternoon and Number 7 to Snowtorch but this track and the whole album are brilliant indeed. Phideaux has only released very good albums, and some excellent ones. Such a pity he and his band didn't become a bit more famous, even in the prog rock microcosm...

A total modern musical genius, like Susumu Hirasawa, Arjen Lucassen, Steven Wilson, Tomas Bodin, etc. There is always a dark yet beautiful atmosphera created by Xavier and the others artist. Truly amazing music.

It reminds me of the early Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett. Really excellent songwriting. I like it very much. 👍👍

Truly a prog masterpiece, with elements of ELP, Yes, Genesis and dare I say, Susanne Vega?? Listen closely and you will hear it.

Rob Hare Can add elements of Jethro Tull, Mike Oldfield and Pink Floyd to that. Phideaux is to prog rock what ABBA was to pop: able to seamlessly incorporate all the best elements of his genre into his songs so they fit perfectly!

Everybody says when they think of Phideaux: Doomsday Afternoon and Infernal, and while all albums all good, to me, personally, Fiendish, Number Seven, Snowtorch and Chupacabras are the best ones.

69stepe Oh for sure, same here! I'm planning to get my hands on a CD soon. I love the epic violin solo near the end of part 1, and Helix, placed in the middle of the song. Beatiful vocals and so much energy. I just wanted to draw attention to 11:15 because of the amazing vocal range Xavier shows, and the way he uses assonance to drive the lyrics... simply amazing.

I don't hear any further development if you compare it with "Mind Over Matter" from 1998 by the Swedish band Galleon, for example.
