I agree.....100% on all points!, i used to be a big Retro Ralph follower but stopped a couple months ago... I like Arcade1up, John D and you just don’t go negative overnight because of fan’s reactions. And to go negative about a private business and partnership publicly seems immature. Like you stated, it should have been behind the scenes. It’s as if he wanted all his fans to also quit Pickers along with him to justify his actions to cause maximum damage to the show.
Oh yeah... I mean there is obviously more to the story, but there is one thing that I know... that stuff don't add up. It's hard for me to believe that Ralph had no idea what he was getting himself into, and then was so surprised by Cory's actions that he needed to remove himself this early. I think he knew what he was doing, it pissed off certain people, and then tried to do damage control. I mean that's just my observation, but who knows... I'm just a know nothing 2K Sub creator, HAHA!!!
Great video!.. As A guy that's going to start a gaming channel... I'm going about this in the following ways: 1. Not monitizing 2: it will be smoking 3: it will be drinking 4: it will be adults only Kinda like a nightclub, lounge feel to it.. But it'll be nice . Long story short I feel what you're saying
1. I think it’s super cool that Cory and his son will be doing the project together going forward. I hope to share my passions with my son when he gets older. 2. While I preferred the history and restoration aspect myself, I liked seeing both sides of it. 3. It’s better that this happened now as opposed to after a few more episodes 4. I hate drama, so I wish this all happened over a phone call and a 20 word post 5. I liked your honesty 6. Ralph was the first person I followed on UA-cam, so I’ll be honest and say I’m a fan of his and will still be 7. I look forward to both shows.
Hey man no problem with liking someone's content. We all have our own tastes and preferences. I did think that they balanced each other out really well. I would also probably prefer the history and restoration aspect as well, but I also know many people really liked the haggling. But yes... a phone call and 20 word post would have been sufficient, I completely agree!
I think the split was for the best. Cory has his own version and I don't know the man, so I can't speak either way, but his actions on the show, intended or not, speak for themselves, in which people formulate their own opinions. . I'm a former arcade collector and from my perspective, I don't like seeing historic games be destroyed in favor of emulation. Having said that, I've also taken cabinets that are far too gone to be restored and given them a second life by means of emulation. Anyways, appreciate your input and video.
Yeah, I'm sure the split needed to happen. Personally I would align more with Ralph's perspective. I just think his post came across very poorly. "I'm leaving Arcade Pickers. Cory and I had different visions for the project. Best of luck to him going forward. I'm working on a new project, so be on the look out." That would have been more than sufficient. I get it people make mistakes, and Ralph probably regrets his post.
No machines were actually destroyed in the process of this I did have a house of the dead that I bought that wasn't working, I did replace it with a Nintendo Wii only because that was what the customer needed. I have kept many of the cabinets all original. If I have the knowledge to repair the cabinet I will do so if the cabinet is beyond repair which was the case with gorf, then there's nothing I can do. I simply grabbed that cabinet because it was only fifty bucks
I'm sure Ralph will land on his feet so to speak - he's very entertaining... And this was the first I heard of this news, so thanks for posting about it.
I'm sure he will be fine. It just came across to me as him trying to use his clout to push around the little guy. I'm sure there is more to the story, and in the end maybe something else happened. However, from what I saw being an observer... from a distance... it looked petty.
While none of us were between the walls with any convos, I kkow Ralph very well and this was not what his core audience wanted. They didnt want to see a show about how cheap someone could get a cab then gut it. They wanted preservation and restoration of unique items, not making yet another mame cab. That may be Corys audience and this isnt to throw shade to either side but to think theres anything nefarious going on is lauguable. Ive had many many discussion with him.
Its awesome that you made this. I appreciate you keeping it real! Enjoy your content keep up the good work!! :) BTW I trust very few youtubers with respect to 1up etc. Sorry but when you have an ALP and a Arcade 1up pin side by side and I ask you which one is better and you say they are the same and you cant pick a favorite , cmon man really! Now that i have both im just shaking my head. ALP destroys the Arcade 1up, not even close. Of course just my opinion :)
Dude I actually really like the Arcade1Up SW Pinball, but being that it sits right next to my ALP.... then it's very hard for me to reason why I should even play the SW pinball. The ALP is just sick man, and then you have these tools acting like it's an ugly unit and the Arcade1Up is so much better. I just shake my head. There is really no point arguing with fanboys.
@@originalconsolegamer8572 Exactly! I like the SW but when i turn it on after playing ALP it feels more like a toy version of a V Pin. Not a fanboy of atgames as i try to remain neutral to make the best decisions possible but really hard to argue with the quality of the Atgames arcade products. I am seriously considering selling my SW pin to make room for Killer Instinct if it looks good.
@@papagarouge I've considered getting rid of my SW as well. I will probably keep it for the following reasons though. #1 I do like turning it on and just letting the theme music play. That's it's best feature, and it does a great job for setting the atmosphere. #2 being that I coach youth sports I often have kids and their parents over for gamenite. And I have found that the Arcade1Up is something that kids or adults that aren't familiar with can turn on and get into a game without any assistance from me. I've adjusted to the UI of the ALP, but it takes some getting use to. And also getting into OTG mode and stuff like that is not something they can do by themselves. So for entertaining noobs the Arcade1Up Pinballs come in handy. However once I run out of floor space, then I may change my mind.
I do UA-cam as a hobby. I do enjoy making videos and interacting with the community. Most people I interact with through work or coaching little league don't have the same interest as far as gaming and collecting. So UA-cam and especially the arcade community is made up of a bunch of really good people from my experience in which I can have fun conversations with regarding gaming and collecting. Sure not all of them, but mostly pretty positive from my experience. What I mean by not needing UA-cam or my channel is that I have plenty other things to keep me busy and I don't need the money. A lot of people treat UA-cam as a business and in such are afraid to give honest reviews in fear of losing free handouts. And also afraid to tell people with larger channels that they are in the wrong because they don't want to burn any bridges or have said UA-camr's fans come after them. I've been making videos for 5 years now, and I've never gotten into UA-cam drama. This is the first video out of the hundreds that I have made where I have discussed another UA-camr. However, I took exception here and felt that attention needed to be drawn to his comments. Ralph is a person with a lot of influence in the community, and his post was out of line. I know for the reasons that I mentioned earlier a lot of people would not have addressed his post, but I want to make sure that it's not the norm and prevent that kind of behavior from happening in the community. So I hope that clears things up a little bit. If not and you still disagree then that's fine too. I appreciate you stopping by and giving your opinion.
Hi, Have you watched Retro Ralph before? He has always been this way. Due to this I am almost certain that before this started he expressed his opinion and certain things were agreed to. That's Ralph. He lets you know straight up at the beginning on his thoughts. So his partner knew if the initial vision was not to be followed he was going to let him know and he would bolt if the agreement was broken. Throwing Shade? No. He went far above fair by linking his former partner for others to follow and more at the same time letting people know how he felt. That's Ralph. You state your opinion on how people should view retro gaming and are of the opinion that whatever makes you happy do it that way. Ralph has said this before but still has his opinion and that is just as valued. I even agree with the opinion you gave so no matter the opinion it is the opinion that makes YOU happy is the valued one for You.
So in actuality what happened was I was told that there would be backlash if I didn't restore original cabinets back to their very original state down to the nuts and bolts I get that, I was never told that if there was backlash it would create division. The truth of the matter was I was in charge of very little as far as the direction of the show as silly as that sounds. The real reason that there was division was because Ralph did not want me to respond to trolls on Facebook oh, this is probably a smart thing but for some reason I did feel the need to defend myself against stuff very specific group. That being said there was never any conversation between him and I after this happened ...he ghosted and vanished. After investing thousands of dollars into the show which he did as well probably more than I did. I felt like it was a rash decision but I was glad to find out now than several months down the road so that we can each go our own Direction. What I didn't appreciate was not getting a response and then having a Facebook post with everyone chiming in their two cents and having me be no part of it
I've watched enough of Retro Ralph's videos to know that I'm not a fan of the way that he operates. If he has a video that is helpful or unique, then I will watch it and enjoy it. But in general I try to avoid his content. He's just what I consider a UA-camR.... doesn't mean that he doesn't make good content, doesn't mean that he's not a good guy, it just means that I perceive him as being someone that puts on a persona for his channel. He was obviously doing damage control in his post. He was most definitely throwing shade as I'm not the only one that feels this way. Check the comments of this video as many people who are very involved in the community feel the same way. Just because he threw dudes link at the end of the video doesn't mean that he wasn't throwing shade. I could care less if Ralph leaves the show. I mean I had only watched 1 episode prior to seeing his post. If he was unhappy, then he should have split. It's just common courtesy to at least relay this to your business partner. It appears that he did not do this, and instead made a public post explaining what his problems were with Cory. And when Cory shows up to defend himself, then Ralph acts like he doesn't want to have the convo in public. Well dude you could have prevented that if you answered his phone calls, and then didn't make a post calling him out publicly. If you see if differently then that is fine. I'm just describing how things appear from the lense that I'm seeing them through.
Great Video! I was wondering what happened, I actually liked the show and you could tell how different both Ralph and Corey saw things from the beginning. In my opinion, that makes for a better show. Oh well, sometimes it is better to go in opposite directions. Wish the best for Cory and the show 👍🏽 I'm starting to hear more and more negative things about Ralph, sucks but it is what it is! Thanks for the Info Brotha!
For me at least it's pretty obvious when these guys put on a persona for the camera. It doesn't mean that they are jerks when the camera is off, but it does mean that you aren't getting an authentic experience.
I haven’t been following this story for very long but what kind of specific backlash was Ralph getting from “arcade purist” about doing the show? It keeps getting mentioned but I have no idea what there is to have backlash about when it comes to doing the show lol
It's not Ralph getting the backlash from people, it's Cory. He kept claiming that if he didn't buy certain cabs that they were just going to be "thrown in the trash" as his excuse for gutting out the CRTs, gameboards, etc. and putting in a Wii or Playstation and LCD. He even called himself "the mod guy" in an episode. He doesn't restore the cabs back to original, has no respect for the history of them or helping preserve them and that rubbed a lot of people wrong. Most of the backlash he's gotten was on his facebook posts, etc. showing off the bastardizations he's done to the cabs and calling it restoring.
@@cursedxistence so are people just assuming that because Cory is getting backlash, that’s why Ralph backed out? Not for the reason he stated which was due to not being comfortable with the whole idea of bargaining and the direction of the show? If so, that’s pretty lame to just make that assumption and not give him the benefit of the doubt. But then again, it’s cool to be against Ralph nowadays 🤣

Like you said different strokes for diff folks. I can see Ralph point of view but Cory has his reasons too. They should of share their ideas before working together. This is how it is with business. Things just doesn't works out sometimes.
Yeah man... sometimes business partners don't pan out. I think it's odd that he was completely surprised by Cory's actions on the show after only 3 episodes. That would indicate that he didn't really know the guy, and that zero planning went into the show. I don't believe either of those things, which is why I believe he did it for backlash he received from certain fans. And if that's your prerogative then fine, but keep that private and just tell us what we need to know. "I'm leaving the show. We hard our creative differences. Good Luck to Cory."
Most of the people in this community are not arcade purists. If they were then they would have real arcade units and not arcade1ups. Also most of the so called purists are now using methods of playing the actual pcb’s outside of a cabinet so not sure why they complain. The only buy the game boards and are in essence doing the same thing Cory was doing. I agree with your perspective. Play and collect how you want. Real hardware or emulation is also ok. Just have fun and play some games.
I agree with you, there are not so many purists in the community. So not sure why he was so worried about it. As long as you are playing, collecting and having fun then who cares!

Original Console Gamer, See, this video sums it up for me as to why I like your channel. I got these authentic vibes from you without knowing directly any of this information. It is cool to hear these revelatory validations. I found out very early on that Retro Ralph wasn't my bag. Not saying he's a bad guy, but to me, he's an overly obvious shill for certain companies. He's also one of those UA-camrs who asks his audience over and over again to interact with them in the comment section, but never actually does (at least in my case). After the 5th time posting comments on his videos, trying to be part of the conversation, even asking him questions directly, I never got a response. It just showed me the guy isn't genuine, just spouting "UA-cam Speak" to add comment ticks to beef up his algorithm. And speaking quickly on his buddy's channel, Console Kits, pretty much a carbon copy of Ralph, but without the beard, I blocked his channel outright after he blurted Star Wars related spoilers out of nowhere during an unrelated Arcade1up discussion. A "Grade A" class jerk move. As for decent Home Arcade related channels I watch, there's Glen's Retro Show and CoolToy. Those guys are always interacting with their audiences and set a positive tone to their content, even when they are critical, or point out things they don't like. I'm glad I stumbled across your channel, liking what you like and telling it like it is, algorithm be damned :) vgv
I always know when I see you in the comments, that I need to grab myself a cup of coffee first, HAHA! Yeah, I had a similar reaction to Ralph. I was like man this dude is shilling HARD, but still just posted positive stuff in the comments and still never got responses out of him. I mean I guess if you give him a super chat during a live stream, then he will interact with you. Even when I don't like someone's content I don't post negative comments or give them a thumbs down. I mean it actually helps them in the algorithm, so I just back off and don't watch future videos. I do my best to interact with people as much as possible. I mean if someone took the time to watch my video and post a comment, then it's the least I can do to give you a response. I tend to enjoy the conversations, and actually learn a LOT through the conversations. I mean there are times when I do get super busy and I miss a comment on a video, but I will more than likely get you the next time around. So I appreciate your kind words, and I will do my best to stay authentic going forward.... algorithm be damned!!!
Original Console Gamer, You hit the nail on the head with all your points. Yeah, I could see Ralph utilizing Super Chat like that. I would never expect people to respond to my every post, some do have lives outside of UA-cam, of course :), but I really have distain for UA-camrs who constantly request comments and conversation, even many times in a single video, and then ignore the comments section. That's when I do like you do, not bother commenting any longer. Leaving any comment, good or bad, just helps the UA-camr, and if they can't be decent enough to interact sometimes after requesting comments, then I just leave. I don't care for disingenuous people, even if they're just regurgitating what UA-cam tells them to do. It's just dishonest. Thank you for interacting with us and for all your great content! vgv

Not monitizing
2: it will be smoking
3: it will be drinking
4: it will be adults only
Kinda like a nightclub, lounge feel to it.. But it'll be nice . Long story short I feel what you're saying
Yeah just try to ignore all the idiots running around on UA-cam and you will be just fine.
1. I think it’s super cool that Cory and his son will be doing the project together going forward. I hope to share my passions with my son when he gets older.
2. While I preferred the history and restoration aspect myself, I liked seeing both sides of it.
3. It’s better that this happened now as opposed to after a few more episodes
4. I hate drama, so I wish this all happened over a phone call and a 20 word post
5. I liked your honesty
6. Ralph was the first person I followed on UA-cam, so I’ll be honest and say I’m a fan of his and will still be
Always like genuine people and talking about gaming. Stay true to yourself. I like your channel.
Thank you! I will do my best.
What the hell kind of drama did I walk into?
This is an underground world you want no part of buddy... just back away slowly!
Well said man
Thank You sir!
It's funny. Even us chatters over on that chan act like middle school kids sometimes.
Bummer, was super excited about that show. My wife was even getting into it. Also go Broncos.
I dunno man, talking about how you don’t need UA-cam on your UA-cam channel video talking about UA-cam drama. Seems kinda counterintuitive. 🤷🏻♂️
@@originalconsolegamer8572 All of that to basically reveal your true feelings about Ralph personally.
@@Tech_Gainz and how is what Ralph said as his reasons any different than what Derek is saying? Its not. People make up drama when there is none.

Divorce is never fun in life or business. Each side has there own story who knows who is right and who is wrong.
Agreed, I'm sure both had some part in the break up. However, a simple we are going our separate ways would have been sufficient.

Original Console Gamer,
See, this video sums it up for me as to why I like your channel.
I'm glad I stumbled across your channel, liking what you like and telling it like it is, algorithm be damned :)

Original Console Gamer,
You hit the nail on the head with all your points.
