Raising Vilk and losing sight of your own life is incredible. It goes to show how much love you have for him…and he’ll return it 10-fold throughout his life.
Exactly! You can already see his effection for her! He is happy and loves her! Always will!
Yeah, we'll see for how long. She's already bitching about it a lot, how draining it is. Wait till he gets sick, and the vet visits start, administering medication etc.

It is very similar to being a mother parent, and for many years mother is the child's guardian angel protecting from what they themselves do not see the consequences of and kind of training them not to kill themselves and be able to survive.
i'm not sure it's a case of losing sight of your own life as much as the two being combined into one. my dogs become a part of me and the world isn't right unless they are with me.
In March 2014 I was standing in the same location on top of 3 metres of frozen sea ice in the bitter cold and made the same statement that every step here would be a step south to Ushuaia. In May 2016 after 622 days I arrived in Ushuaia and burst into happy tears having travelled 43,000 kilometre…by bicycle. I’ll be watching your adventures with interest. Good luck.
All right! Everywhere I've been, The Haul Road, Argentina, Chile, Ushuaia, Siberia Road of Bones, the adventure bicyclists are there! Always the bicyclists! Congradulations.
You rode a bike from prudhoe bay to argentina?
Wow!
Your insane but you have my respect.
😳
I've lived in Alaska almost 50 years and have worked all over it including Barrow and Deadhorse and much in between. You are a strong, sweet spirit Eva, the sort of person that has always gravitated to and then stayed here in Alaska. You would do well living somewhere in our great state, there are never enough you's. I'm glad you enjoyed the ride. Quite by accident I found your channel, lucky me. You bring back some great memories when I was your age and this place was all new. You must come back someday!
KERFUFFLE.....great word. Haven't heard it in decades. I'm going to bring it back!! Your ability to put your sights, sounds, emotions into words is a gift.
I worked in Prudhoe Bay for 25 years for Worley, Peak and Halliburton it is the best place i have worked in my 50 years in the oilfield i am retired now but miss working there and the good friends i had there, i have been to remote locations that only a handful of people have ever been
Good luck on you trip and be safe and careful
It looks so isolated and depressing. Like being on a space colony on a far away planet. And it looks like there was absolutely nothing to do there other then work. What did you guys do during your time off? Were there cheap flights to other cities in Alaska to go and visit? Just curious to know.
@@RemyCT63 The flight from Anchorage or Fairbanks to Deadhorse is provided by the company. It is a charter on a 737 and by far the fastest boarding. 15-20 minutes from opening the door to everyone seated ready to go; all oilfield workers. There are many people working up there that live in the lower 48. One guy I worked with lived in Hati. They have to purchase their own flights to and from Alaska. It seemed like everyone worked 12 hour shifts 7 days a week. The company I worked for they didn't pay travel time to the oil pads, so some days were long. Work schedules range from 6 weeks on 2 off to 2 weeks on 2 off. One summer I did 6 on 1 off. Many times, sometimes weeks at a time I had couple hours of work to perform in a 12 hour day. That made it boring and depressing. Housing, food, transportation is provided. My time off was spent catching up on chores and spending time with my family. There are only a few villages in Alaska not on the road system I would think about traveling to and they flights are sometimes more expensive than flying to Seattle. It was a cool experience working up there for 6 years, but I wanted to be closer to my kids as they grew up.
I worked in the oil fields of Prudhoe Bay for 6 years. 7-12 hour days 4 weeks on 2 weeks off. The only things I miss is working “night” shift during the summer (sun is out 24 hours), many northern light displays, wildlife, and learning about all the unusual machinery that is up there.
wow! tell us, how you deal with the loneliness there? how is your life there? i'm really curious
Please tell me because I need truth. How to read Prudhoe? Is it Prud like in "stud" or Prud like in "understood"?
Yeah..tell us more...
@@AndreiBerezin it is pronounced Pru-Doe.

Tip: When winching, put your hood up. If that cable lets go, you don't want to add a busted windshield to the mix. Same goes for guarding your back window when towing someone out of a fix.
Have you ever realized that dogs wake up smiling and joyful every morning? I envy them that.
Loved your comments about raising Vilk. You won't remember me encouraging you at the beginning of your life together, but I'm glad you realize how much a dog can enrich your life. Choosing a dog is one thing, but there's nothing more special than when a dog chooses you.
The desolate vibe here reminds me of my first night in Iceland last year, leaving the airport at 11 pm and seeing only an endless field of contorted grey-black stone receding into the gloom, and in the distance the flickering light of the volcano. It felt like entering Mordor, but was stunning in its own way.
Mordor is the word!!! Glad you can relate :)
That was my first thought too! It reminds me of the rocky part of the black sand beach on the Southern coast (minus the basalt towers).
Lexi Henny, it's one of the black sand beaches of Iceland on which they filmed the opening scene of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
Alaska is one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve gone further north than you were supposed to.
yeah, you don't understand the meaning of the word "remote" until you go somewhere like that. I was in Nome, Alaska once, which is supposedly one of the "larger" towns along the northern areas, and I felt like I was on the most remote spot on earth....
Haven’t been to Alaska yet. Would like to go at some point in life, not for a little 10 day cruise but get to stay and fish and hunt in Alaska.
Indeed. I got back to Chicago after driving to Deadhorse. I was shopping at a Target and saw a display of globes. I looked up Deadhorse and said "Holy Fu@#" that's on top of the planet!" On a map.....no big deal...on a globe, you get the real perspective.
I mean you can't even drive to the capital of Alaska for crying out loud. Boat or plane only
lol
I've just found your channel about 24hrs ago and have watched a few of your videos, mostly since you've gotten Vilk.
He has gotten so big and you have done an amazing job at training and raising him.
A dog maybe a small part of your life but to them, you are their entire life.
Dogs pay back 1000 times what you put into them and the unconditional love is priceless.
Love your travel blog by the way. Amazing adventure.
I'm an Alaskan since 1975. Wouldn't live anywhere else. Love your vjdeos and heartfelt narrations. You share your heart and soul right into the camera with the personal but intense gaze like you're talking just to me over a campfire.
May the angels watch over you and keep you safe and healthy as you fulfill your dreams.
What do you love about it?
@@anmahek happy life enjoy love life 😮❤
Eva it's from Poland and you got polish surname:) polish power! 😆🇵🇱❤️💪🖐
I lived in a small van with two Alaskan huskies for 1,5 years and to be able to fulfill their running needs (as they come from pure working sleddogs lines) my whole driving and in general entire daily schedule revolves around them. I know how limiting it can feel. And at the same time, because of THEM I have gone to the most beautiful locations by accident, searching for a good training trail. So yes, they take up a ton of time (and even more with a puppy!), and they restrict a lot what I can do and where I can go. But the only way thru this is to lean in, to embrace it and see where your journey will take you two where you otherwise wouldn't have gone alone.
And do not feel bad spending to much time on the training! First years are the worst, after that your work will pay off big time, because the older the dog gets, the more time they need to learn new skills compared to the same skills in their younger years. So, better spend these 2 years focusing on the training and then the rest 10 enjoying the fruits rather than being frustrated 5 years later and wishing you would have put in the work ;)
I know puppies are tough, but so worth it. I'm so happy you have a true companion on your travels. One that won't let you down like any human.
Kids are 100 x the amount of responsibility... and losing yourself, your identity, your path - completely detours your life in a different direction. Also rewarding but you lose yourself for about 20 years or more just trying to provide a good life to another human that is completely dependent on you. XOXO You are doing great!
This girl clearly knows how to live her life! She's an inspiration for many. Tak trzymaj, Ewa!!!
Hehe dziekuje ❤️

Eva.. we are all so proud of your adventure from Mexico to Alaska….riding along with you was an amazing experience because you are so descriptive in your narratives (all your videos) which educate us at the same time… Prudo Bay was yet another destination on the map that you set-off to reach, and you did….what an amazing journey….
As you have learned through your journey, those moments of feeling overwhelmed only make you a more complete person in the end. Enjoy the journey and embrace being an awesome Dog Mom. Never forget that it is okay not to be okay sometimes.
I really appreciate your honesty about how hard it is to raise a dog. I have never heard anyone talk like this before about their dogs and to me it shows such maturity and self-awareness. Good on you and thank you for sharing.

Think raising a dog is challenging? Wait til you start raising children, but it’s so balanced raising children, more reward than work that most of the time it’s really good times.

Who can literally tell the true story of being to Antarctica and to the Arctic Circle in the same year. I’m excited to see your adventures to come. Crack on!
Ahah I was just thinking about this the other day, so so lucky to have been able to do that!
Guess I’m one of those few. Actually several times back and forth each year between Antarctica and the Arctic. But I know half a dozen others that have done the same.
I've been to Antarctica and to the North Pole, but not in the same year, I was a pipeline welder on the Alaskan pipeline starting in dead horse @ pump station # 1 in 1976, have a wonderful day
@@wileecoyote5929 I bet you have some pretty good stories! That job seems like it would be miserable and amazing all at the same time. My grandpa was a pipeline welder for years but he mostly did underwater lines.

Wait' 'til Vilk matures and properly understands his place in this world.
He's going to be your best friend, your therapist, your bodyguard and your big brother, all rolled into one.
You're going to be so proud of him, and so proud that you taught him to be the dog he is.
When I first seen vilk, I was a little concerned they can be a handfull that breed but then I remembered what good guard dogs they make and I was relieved.
Well said! I agree! The bond only gets stronger!
You are doing a great job with Vilk and as you have probably realized you can hardly remember your life before him. Well done. He is so worth it.
This is the answer I came here for :) This guy is gonna be at your side always, and you'll hardly ever have to worry about him.
She needs to train the dog to not constantly bark and Yap when she leaves his presence. You can hear this in many snippets of the videos
In 15 years your going to be looking back at your time with Velk and realizing how special even the hardest parts you experience now. Cherish him he's teaching you as much as you're teaching him. I have tears rolling down my face, Velk is a mirror image of my Yukon and I miss him every day.
As she was describing how her attention is focused on raising a pup, I find my attention is now caring for my elderly dog. At both ends of their lives they're our all.
Where is this womans baby? Does she just leave him at home?

Found your videos completely by accident, and I must say, it was a happy accident for sure. The last couple hundred miles of your journey through Alaska was truly breathtaking. To be able to see nature with all her grandeur and all that unsullied purity, it felt so surreal. Thank you, and thanks to all the people who helped you in this journey of yours. I wish you all the very best for future, knowing that you're gonna have many more of such adventures in the days to come. A quote from 'Into the Wild' comes to mind:
"I know how important it is in life to measure yourself at least once. To find yourself at least once in the most ancient of human conditions with nothing to help you but your hands and your own head."
Cheers.
You’re an inspiration! I started watching when you got Odyssey in Mexico & have loved following your journey.
Parenting a dog is rewarding. Parenting a dog without decent training is exhausting it’s entire life. Parenting a well behaved dog is exhausting during the first year and half & then it’s only rewards, with a little work to feed, walk, and get regular checkups. You’re doing a great job. You really need to get him steps or a ramp to walk into the truck on his own.
Where is her baby? Did she leave him at home?
Such an amazing journey! This internet stranger is proud of you. This trip took an immense amount of courage. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. Be well.

I'm so happy to see Eva living her best life. I've been watching her videos for quiet some time now and she is making and doing one of my dreams come true. Congratulations on your new dog, such a lovely boy 🤍
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! I've gone with you along the way as a fellow adventurer/traveler. I've only been 31 expeditions to 19 countries. My biggest adventure was being shipwrecked after boat capsized bringing humanitarian aid to Honduran refugees. It's so cool to watch your excitement and wisdom as you face each challenge.

Just remember what i said before about being a true traveler not being intent upon arriving, ENJOY!!!
Congrats Eva! 💙 Thank you for sharing your adventures with us and I'm so excited to see your journey to Argentina. Wish you happy travels 💙
Your whole trip was amazing. You are now someone I greatly admire , respect & look up to for following your dreams and making them happen
I became a Dog Dad just before the nation wide lock downs. I have since spent many hours training my pup. We have gone through every class Petsmart offers for dog training and we are repeating one of them starting this week. I can say it has fundamentally changed the way I think about every trip I take. Even the short drives to get errands done. I take him with me. Of course he ends up spending alot of that time in the vehicle ( yes I keep it running so he has the proper temp). However it enriches our lives to have one another. And I look forward to as many years as I am blessed with his love in my life. Taking the time to ensure he is a well behaved dog has been worth it. Keep taking the time, keep putting the effort in.
I wish I had the courage to do what you're doing. You're such an inspiration, hopefully I'll get out to Alaska one day.
I hope you do! You'll love it!
@@evazubeck You've been to places that some can only dream of, and to places many fear to tread. More adventures, and many miles, still await you. Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us, and always showing us things we might never have expected. Vilk is learning quickly, and seems well suited to a life of adventure. You're doing a wonderful job with him. He's teaching you things, too, maybe even some things you haven't realized yet. It's a wonderful relationship, that will subtly change how both of you interact with the world. Dear Eva, you did it. You jumped in that cold water and that makes you special. That is why I love your stories and watch them all. You have so much energy, so much power, amazing. Vilk will be what you make out of him and I can already see he will be a fantastic dog and companion. You do a great job, you make great stories, let's go south.😍
The first two years with a dog are indeed the most difficult.
You're doing a fantastic job raising him.
Keep with it and don't give up on him.
He will be your lifelong companion and bring you so much more joy and love as he grows.
only 2 years??? my shepherds were a challenge for about 5 years. not that they caused problems, besides eating my house when i had to work, it was just the constant need for attention and all the energy that had to be burned off. it was fun most of the time but going out in the rain, snow, sleet, and hail wasn't much fun for me buy they loved it. the one thing you can be sure of with a dog is if there is mud anywhere near they will find it.
Where is her baby? Does she leave him at home?
So true about the energy involved in proper care of a dog. The fact you are going through that indicates you are doing right by him.
Eva, your videos are inspiring. The way you connect with your viewers, it’s as if you’re making the video just for me.
May your travels be safe and you and Vik always have a place to rest at night.

When I was living in Chile and Argentina about a decade ago, I started to wonder if it was possible to drive all the way up to Alaska. At the time, there were only a few blogs that I found documenting attempts, but they didn't really answer my question. From one wandering woman to another, congratulations Eva! Stay wild🌲
Yay! Vilk sends hugs back!
Its good to hear that Vilk is the #1, he wont be a puppy forever, and as somebody that lives on the road with a dog (Wired haired pointer) the effort early on pays itself back in the bulk of their lifetime. I'm over 6 years in now, and she's just so integrated into my lifestyle I don't have to expend all that mental energy thinking about her, or if she'll be OK. Keep it up, the rewards - especially once you are a year into this 2-3 year Pan American trip.
Wow! You are such an inspiration and remind me to be strong and fearless. Wishing you every luck, health, happiness and success Eva! Will be rooting for you all the way and watching your journey! ❤
Beautiful. My heart melts with warmth and joy from you're inspiration and fearlessness.
Congratulations on reaching this achievement! I relate to your discussion on raising a pup, since I raised one myself when I was furloughed from a job in 1991. Mine was a lot simpler as I was at home and not traveling. Your choice of a German Shepard is ideal for your adventures - he will be protective and able to tolerate the wide range of climates you encounter. And from what I can tell in your videos, you are doing an excellent job with his training. Now for that new adventure - all the way to the southern tip of South America! Having taken 6 months to reach Prudhoe Bay, I imagine the next leg will require more than a year. I would guess roads in Central and South America will be much more challenging as well so maybe a year and a half. Best wishes and safe travels! We look forward to following your adventures!

Super happy that you achieved the goal you set out to accomplish. Looking forward in following your next adventures!
Well, that's gonna be a journey. Congrats on making it all the way up there and stay safe on your journey back down.
Vilk is a great dog! You will appreciate him so much more the longer you are with him. It will be well worth it in the end to have Vilk.
Oh that was adorable. Congratulations! And your doggie is so cute!
Awesome as always!
this was definitely anything but 'anti-climatic'. it was joyful, exuberant, and quite fulfilling. the only thing is, i'm sitting here in teXas watching and i can't really explain why i am tearing up as i watch. glad you brought us along on this portion on the journey, now, on to Argentina. and the adventure continues......
I am so moved by your content. I am a female traveler and journalist myself and your adventure and storytelling is extremely powerful and resonates with me in a very special way. Good luck on your travels, may they be full of crazy stories to tell. I know I'll be watching the whole time.
Go watch Itchy Boots, that is a fearless women, not a whining girl.

Where is her baby? Did she leave him at home?
You explain wat it’s like raising a dog so well! I did a lot of research before I adopted my dog and I remember feeling prepared and confident when he got here. I had planned out how everything would go, the training I would do, which methods I wanted to use and the challenges I might face. However, I had no clue how much it takes mentally on the level you speak of. Like you said, often times you don’t even have space left to have thoughts for yourself. They do become the center and even though I wouldn’t want to miss him for a thing, it is quite taxing too. Thank you for putting it in words so well! I’m glad I’m not the only one going through that :)
I'm so proud of you. As a father of a daughter your age, I think I understand how we all are on the same journey. The journey to find ourselves. Thank you for letting us live vicariously through you. All my love to you and your family, who helped you endure.
