- British singer/songwriter Rumer's album went platinum in Britain and was recently released in the U.S. Anthony Mason meets with England's latest one-name musical export to hear her dramatic story of how she hit the big time wowing the likes of Elton John and Burt Bacharach.
This woman is AMAZING! I love her voice. I listen to music all the time looking to be inspired by someone new and original. She fits the bill.

Me too, 3 weeks after you. In fact, 20 minutes ago, I was placed on hold waiting to speak to a call centre operator when the song ' Danmgerous' came on. My initial thought was that it was a Karen Carpenter song and then I googled it...
It's the kind of voice that stops you and you say, "Wait a minute.... what is that?! I have to hear this!." Doesn't sound like Karen C. or Astrud G., but gives me the same effect.
I agree..& that doesn't happen to me much anymore.
First time I heard Rumor was singing for Obama “house is not a home” and it was goosebumps the entire song. It still gets me every time.

5 months later - Rumer's star continues to rise! Last month she sang for the Obamas at The White House. She has gained enthusiastic new fans including Donovan, Leon Russell, Richard Carpenter, and many other musical luminaries. Rumer now has a fan group on Facebook called "Rumer Worldwide Fans" and she has just released a 2nd album called "Boys Don't Cry", which shot straight to #1.

Accidentally discovered Rumer in 2014, when I bought a used car and her songs were in the music database of the car. Yes, first time I heard it I actually thought "there's a Karen Carpenter song I've never heard before?" LOL. Lovely voice and hope she makes an Asian stop one day...
I saw her on Graham Norton's show too and started looking for her music on line. Some of the videos I've found feel a bit too "packaged" to me. They should back off in the production quality and let her be her. She has an incredible voice, a natural personality. She's amazing! I didn't feel like I was listening to the new Karen Carpenter when I saw last night's show. I do get some of that from the videos. She's approachable and really spectacular just the way she is. Let Rumer be Rumer.
