Dear Sir, Sukho was a very important village in Tehsil Gujar Khan before 1947.Around 80% population of Sukho was Sikh.10% was Hindu and only 10% was Muslim.Sukho was a business hub in Tehsil Gujar Khan before 1947.In main Sukho bazar all the population was Sikh. All havelis were 3 to 4 floors. The havelis contained heavy metallic girders, wood works and marble tiles. The most important Sikh family of Sukho was the Bindra family.Sardar Chaudhary Shiv Ram Singh Bindra was a class 1 Magistrate before 1947.His haveli is still present in Sukho. His haveli is being used as the office of the Union Council Sukho. The boys high school and girls high school in Sukho was built by the Bindra family. Both of them are still operational. In 1936 Sardar Bhagat Singh Bindra built a hospital in Sukho which is still in good condition and operational. Near the road there is the Sar (taalaab in Urdu & pond in English) which was built by the Sikhs. It is still in good condition. It is situated on the road which goes from Sukho wagon stop to Sukho Morh.It is situated at a distance of less than 1 km from Sukho wagon stop. The small village in front of the Sar(Taalaab) is also called Mohra Sar.There is a huge BOHARH tree along the Sar(Taalaab). The Sikhs used to take bath in this Sar.In the past all the banks of this Sar(Taalaab) were solidified with well shaped stones. There are steps for descending into the water. Many of stones have been broken, stolen or damaged. There was a huge tall Gurdwara in Sukho just at the outskirts of the wagon stop (wagon adda) of Sukho. The Gurdwara was situated just a few furlongs before the village Karnaali. On top of the Gurdwara there was a metallic coupole made of bronze which was yellow in colour. Unfortunately this Gurdwara was destroyed in 1997 or 1998. Close to the Railway Station of Sukho was a Baoli or BAAVLI (step well in English).Unfortunately this Baoli was filled with earth in the late 1960s.At the site of this Baoli there are still some old stones visible. On train station of Sukho trains loaded with merchandise goods like sugar, gurh, wheat, crops, rice clothes were unloaded. These goods belonged to the Sikh sardars of Sukho.Muslim labourers used to load these goods on camels and would bring these goods to Sukho bazar where these goods were sold on Shops owned by Sikh sardars. The Muslims were poor and they used to work on the cultivable fields of Sikhs. In exchange the Sikh sardars gave them wheat and they could get free provisions from the shops of Sikhs. After partition some Muslims discovered this gold buried long ago. This discovery of old buried Sikh gold continues till today in main Sukho. It is said that when in 1947 the Sikhs had to leave Sukho on feet in direction of Gujar Khan first they spoke to their Muslim neighbours so that they may keep their gold in their houses as trust(Amaanat). But the Muslims of Sukho feared that the invading Afghan barbarians would attack them for getting this gold.So finally the Sikhs buried their gold in their own houses. The Sikhs thought that they would come back to Sukho once the invading Afghans are gone. The Sikhs safely left Sukho. They sent a telegram to the Mandra Police Station before departure. The police and army came on jeeps and trucks. The Afghans had gathered in the ground in front of the Sar(Taalaab). The ground is called KHILAY or KHILYIAAN by local people. The military first tried to negotiate with the invading Afghans but in a few moments an Afghan sets fire to the Chaki(Wheat Grinding Mill) which was situated at the place of current wagon stop of Sukho. Nowadays a new Chaki has been rebuilt on the site of the previous Chaki. On that moment the Afghans attacked the military. The Afghans had swords,Tokaas,Gundassa,Barchee, etc... whereas the military and police had 303 rifles and machine guns. The military retaliated. They opened fire on the Afghans. The Afghans fled in different directions but they all got killed within a few hours. The Sikhs owned all the businesses and cultivable land of Sukho. They had very friendly relations with Muslims. The death rituals and marriages of Muslims were often funded by Sikhs. The Sikhs used to make sweets. The most famous of those sweets was TALOOAAN/TELOOAAN/TELUAN/TILUAAN which was made of Sesame seed(til),Desi Ghee and Jaggery(Gurh). A family still makes this sweet in Sukho.Their shop is situated at the wagon stop in Sukho. The Sikhs also made BURFI,JALEBI and another brown colored sweet called MARHASAY/MRHASSAY. Deputy sb, Greetings & Asalam Alikum from Chak Shahzad, Islamabad, Pakistan My name is Rehan Tareen & im a resident of this beloved area for the past 26 years now. Its location is exactly as u explained with areas of Kuri & Bani (Bani Gala) all nearby along with our splendid Rawal Dam. It is a very scenic area offering a majestic view of the Margalla Hills in the backdrop while much of its forest & green belts r maintained. I admit, much has been changed living past the days u left (esp in the last 15 years with the development of housing projects) but still, i know a few families from those times u mention & i'll ask them for ur friend Mr Baana. Apart from tht, Chak Shahzad is still a beautiful area & major portion of it is shaped in a farming community. Some part of it is also a residence of the elites & their farmhouses as big as upto 5 acres because of which its well maintained & not as crowded as other part of the city. Lastly, the people r as loving & caring as u left them, this i can confess & evident from other comments listed to this video therefore Mr Lal, ur welcome to visit whenever u like & im sure u will find it as another home. Wish u a blessed evening ahead & i'll update u upon ur friend Mr Baana soon Regards & Allah Hafiz Rehan

Deputy sb, Greetings & Asalam Alikum from Chak Shahzad, Islamabad, Pakistan
My name is Rehan Tareen & im a resident of this beloved area for the past 26 years now.
Wish u a blessed evening ahead & i'll update u upon ur friend Mr Baana soon
Regards & Allah Hafiz
Rehan
