I was searching some pieces of information about Egoiste because I smelled it the other day and I immediately fell in love. This is one of the best videos about fragrances that I've ever seen. The words, "body odor" have definitely been relevant through my years wearing this fragrance. Yeeaaah, I bet the Concentree is the BeesKnees! maybe, the rose and rosewood shines the best in that issue....
It's unfathomable for me how Egoiste was a commercial flop when it first released. Sure, the ideal scent profile for a men's cologne was abit static at that time, but this scent is undeniably masculine while being a standout. So rugged yet refined at the same time. This and Habit Rouge are my favourites of this genre.

There are some vintage Egoiste out there. Try enchantè perfumes in Canada and tell him I sent you. The Bois noir was apparently available at certain boutiques around the world, Tokyo and London etc. The new Egoiste isn't as good as the old one but it's still better than almost everything being released today

I love Egoiste and I have the 2019 version like you, and I agree, it is weak. I really go heavy on the sprayer just so I can smell it. Sorry to say, but I will just stick with Trumper's Sandalwood after my bottle is done.

I have the 50ml bottle of Eau de Toilette which looks like your concentree bottle. So its not the original, but one of the pre-reformulated ones still before they introduced the current version. I try not to use it that much because there is less than 20ml left but i just cant, i love it. Just found a person selling 85/100ml of that same bottle online and i have never bought anything quicker in my life. I am 27 and trying to stretch that one til i am 30 at least. By that time i plan on making so much money that i can afford vintage bottles that will probably cost a Fortune 😆
My advice for buying vintage perfumes is always have a pot ready to go at all times in case you find something you've been looking for for ages and that the best time to buy vintages is always now lol. They'll all be more expensive in future

So the way you describe the modern egoiste at the end saying about its egoiste but with "water" basically explaining its a thinner version of the original..would it be like saying it could be like an "eau" version of the fragrance..am i on the right track here..?
I have 2 bottles of pre-hard-reformulation and they are 2 different formulations because the colors and smele it's slight different. And even the hardcore reformulated it is at his second or third reformulation😅 Sad but after 2012 all French perfume wore knock out du to législation😢
You made me much worry about that non-bought bottle of CC for 80$.... Let me tell you my story. I had 2008 version of regular edt back in the 2010. So it was fresh enough (juice itself) and not "matured". Very good features despite longevity that was lower than the same age Opium pour homme edt. Got compliments with it. I also have experience of using vintage from first half of 90's. Richer, thicker, more tobacco in it. BUT faded quickly as regular Chanel Pour Monsieur or even faster, approximately 4 hours or so. 2 sprays.

How could you miss out on the best version of Egoiste? Where's your bottle of L'Egoiste?? I used to think L'Egoiste was a rebranded Bois Noir as it was the original release before Egoiste until I recently purchased BN for a very good price. Not the insanely overpriced because it's on a mirrored surface price. I also found 2 bottles of Egoiste Cologne Concentree and to me yes syrupy in fullness not sweetness. Both 50 MLS, one unboxed but full at £53 and a boxed at £72. That's when I realized L'Egoiste is not BN but the CC! You're spot on about the latest version, it's nice but it's nothing like the original.
I don't have a L'Egoiste 😢😂 The cologne concerntree is awesome. Those prices are outrageous, incredible finds to be honest. Could make a good few quid if you decided to sell... I wouldn't part with them though!
Platinum Egoiste is disgusting. It reminds me of growing up and visiting the mall with my mom in the 1990s. It reminds me of gelled hair and bad man-necklaces.

I think the Trumper sandalwood is very close to egoiste. Not exactly the same but not far off

I prefer vintage Samsara edp to Bois des Illes but the latest Samsara isn't very good. Try Bois des Illes and see how it goes

They lost $50m on it in the first year, I think I read that in The Ghost Perfumer. You could ask Gabe Oppenheim?
