Well at the during the end of CS1 and during CS2 they reference a trip that the class made to Ymir... That sequence isnt in CS1, and they reference it more than a few times. From what I read it was an audio drama that has never been released in the US. So... yeah it's kinda interesting when series do stuff like that. Still it's not nearly as bad as the .Hack series was with things split between anime, manga, games and other media. That series was impossible to get the entire story.
@@Drakenrahll A bit late, but it is actually possible to read the translated transcripts of the audio drama. On CS2's main menu, it gives you an option for recaps, and there's a link to the website on there.

Thanks for the upload! I’ve finished CS I&II. I’m letting my PS4 East atm before playing the third game. Was surprised to play as some characters from the Crossbell arc. I’m amazed that there were 2 games going on at the same time. This universe is so vast, I’m getting a slight headache trying to wrap my head around it all at once. Lol I want it all!
Great info. Considering I really want to enjoy the series as a whole, playing another 100+ hours of CS2 for the upcoming CS3 is just a piece of cake to get all the lore. Seeing the Black Records book made me a whole lot motivated. Thanks a bunch, Scott!
2:55 I will gladly play CS2 many times over and over again because I love the game so much before the PS4 announcement I was on my 3rd NG+ playthrough on ps3 so you can’t fault or deny my commitment
Wow...i'm glad i found this video. I recently started play CSIII and it would be a bummer to not know about this scene beforehand. Thanks for clearing this out for me :)
Thanks a lot for this video, i had no idea about this scene. There are so many games i want to play, i almost never play NG+ nowadays, unless the story is radically different in at least parts of it. This scene explains a few things about Thomas...
Thank you for making this video!! I just finished cold steel II and already have cold steel III loaded up…. I guess I’m one of the crazies who binge game after game 😂. No way I would’ve known about this NG+ stuff before starting.
thx for putting this out there. I recently picked up the trails series with Trails in the Sky 1 2 3 and Cold Steel 1 & 2 played back to back. Couldn't be bothered with NG+ since my game time is limited and frankly can't make time to go over a game multiple times. Started CS 3 a few days ago and this scene is interesting when considering what happens in CS3 with Rosine. So yeah, thank you :)
GOD DAMNIT! Ya know after having just finished trials to Azure, as soon as you showed a shot of Professor Thomas in this video it like instantly clicked and I was thinking "Oh god, Thomas is a member of the Gralsritter isn't he?" Then as soon as the scene started and Rosine was standing next to him I just thought "GOD DAMNIT HE IS AND ROSINE IS HIS FUCKING SQUIRE" How does this series keep doing this?!?!
I am somehow just finding this video 3 years later, having just beaten Cold Steel 1-4 in about 10 days NOW I HAVE TO GO BACK AND PLAY 2-4 ALL OVER AGAIN
Just finished Cold Steel 2 thanks for making this video saved me a ton of trouble and that scene damn it all makes so much sense now. Now on to the elusive Crossbell Duology.
Well, thanks for the heads up. I just picked up all three entries recently, and while I don't want to spoil any of my experience, it's useful to know these details so that I'm not stressing too much over getting absolutely everything out of my first playthrough. If NG+ adds stuff (and I'd assume keeps the rest), I can play as blind as I like the first time and then check out any extra tips for finding everything I missed in NG+.
WATCHED THIS AGAIN BECAUSE CS 3 IS ALMOST HERE NOW IF FALCOM/NISA ANNOUNCED THE CS 4 LOCALIZATION IS BEING WORK THEN I WILL BE AT PEACE ALSO MAYBE SLIDING THE LOCALIZATION OF ZERO/AO (CROSSBELL) I WILL BE MORE AT PEACE WELL ANYONE CAN DREAM RIGHT?? URGH THE TORTURE CONTINUES BUT I'M HAPPY WE NOW FINALLY GOT CS 3
Falcom always did this with Cold Steel. Let's think about the CD Dramas for example, it's even suggested on their website, if I remember, to watch/read them. And in Cold Steel IV they even put stuff from the manga and I was so confused because I couldn't understand what they were talking about.
Played cold steal one and two back to back but couldn’t pass the first dungeon in 3 from serious burn out. Replaying it again I remember the big plot points but forgot half of the subplots
This new plot twist wasn't a huge surprise to me, especially after playing Trails in the Sky. I recommend you to play that series before CS3. And I finished the game in 110 hours. Granted I played it on hard which lead to longer battles and some restarts, but I don't get how you can finish it in half of that time. Are you expected to play via a guide or something? That would be ridiculous.
If you use turbo mode it cuts down the time with battles and running from A to B by a pretty significant amount. I'm taking my time with the game since cs3 won't be out till September
i wasnt going to do any NG+ stuff until i was through all the available games. iv gone though everygame from Sky FC to cold steel 2 in a bit over a month... wrapping up the epiloge in CS2 soon then moving right in to CS 3 & 4. then ill start it alllll over again on NG+ Nightmare for every game.
So, i just saw the Cutscene now and in the End Thomas said that the Roaring Lion takes care of things in West Erebonia. Than it doesnt make sense that he was dying in Nord when Gaius got his Stigma in CS3. Nord is on the complete other side and i havent got any clue why he was there.
Going back to this, even when CS3 was a long ways away and I had beaten the 2nd game on the Vita, even I didn't know about this extra cutscene that I needed to work towards getting.
Thanks for this Video, i just finished Cold Steel 2 a Weaks ago and because i almost never buy books in these games i would have missed this Lore detail.
In the same way that Rean participating in North Ambria being annexed is mentioned in passing as having happened in the past year, I just assumed that Thomas' confiding his identity was another little development we are understood to have not seen.
The most frustating Part about the Annexion is, thats there this crucial Moment when Reans Power runs amok and all we got in the Game was like "yeah, you cant use Spirit unification anymore. Sorry about that." And the Anime was a downer.. it hasnt answerd the question what happened with Rean, just when.

Well thats a helpful bit, it should also be noted that you can import your save data from the previous versions of the game if you want to use those for New Game+ as I beat the first two games on Vita. I picked up the first game on PS4 and made a new game plus save file on my Vita copy that I transferred over to continue on PS4.
I wasnt gonna do NG+ looked this up. Rosine was actually weird at end of cs2 when i played and knew something off with Thomas. This should def been included and you be guided towards
& here we are PC players still waiting for CS3 & CS4. every Falcom titles are a cult classic series with such a strong cult following from the fans. This is exactly happened mostly because of falcom being a "small" game devs having such big trouble when it comes localization & ports. I really wish Falcom have better deals when it comes to distributing their games, just like Atlus that also quite a small game devs by Japanese game companies standard.
I am glad that they can include cloud saves from the first 2 from the PS3 and Vita titles. ^^ As I already had them both beat on the ita wich should make doing NG+ on these easy for me. XD
5:48 uh pretty sure the information that what was being described was the battle between the sept terrions of earth and fire was supposed to be a twist in like chapter 4 or 5 of cs3
I already played a ng+ in both games and really I wasn't expecting such a cannon storyline scene to be in ng+. I agree with you that the average player won't even consider replaying the game unless they really liked it because man aren't kiseki games in general so long huh, you really need to enjoy the ride and have patience as you can't skip dialogues and cutscenes even if you are in ng+ (they really should've added that feature). As I fulfilled those two previous conditions and also wanted to do a trophy completionist run with a guide and wreck every enemy in the game with my transferred lvls quartz and equipment (like that invincible mc burn at chapter 1), I happened to find this extra cannon scene, but yeah, average player replaying in a ng+? Not likely to happen. Btw I'll need a 3rd playthrough for the platinum trophy because I always got past millium events without caring for her character (least favourite of class 7 for me, until I watched some footage and spoilers from cs 3 and 4 that is), thus making her final event unavailable at the end of the game and well sh*t happens now I need to replay it a 3rd time just for millium final bonding event x.x
Hot damn, cheers for this mate! I'm a big fan of the games but I rarely ever play NG+ on any games. So it didn't occur to me that I was missing out on something.
Umm... I'm new to the series. I'm on the last chapter of Cold Steel I and will be continuing on to the second game this summer. I love the game. I love the characters. However, there's no way I'm playing through the game twice. I just don't have that kind of time. There are other games I enjoy doing and there's a lot of outdoor things I also like to do in the summer time. I'll still pick up the third game, and I'm sure I will enjoy it as well. If any of the lore is lost on me, I'll find a UA-cam video.
The second half of this video is literally the NG+ cutscene that he was talking about. I wouldn’t recommend playing through NG+ just to view the scene. Just come back to this video once you’ve finished CS2 and watch the rest of it. Then you’ll be fine.
TBH, there's not much important or pertinent information in this cutscene anyway. This stuff is recounted at the start of CS3, and as the uploader mentioned "It may come as a shock if you haven't got the NG+ ending," but honestly... not really a shock at all, and if it feels like one I can't imagine that being anything less than pleasant. No reason to play through NG+ if you don't have time.
Thanks for this. I'm already about to play through CS2 again for a second time but it won't be NG+ as I'm playing the PC version this time so I really don't want to invest the time playing it a 3rd time as I really want to play CS3 (That new CS3 demo is amazing by the way). I've already put a ton of hours into this series (Sky - Cold Steel) and playing some of them multiple times on different platforms like above so....I'll be sure to take note of this when I hop onto CS3 since I didn't play that one yet. I love this series but honestly I'm not really a NG+ person though. I generally beat a game then go to something else then may come back as a refresher and this is super time consuming. I feel like NG+ should be mainly for smaller games that are quick to beat (Way Of The Samurai series does this the best).
The only thing I wish to be changed is changing the difficulty mid game and not starting a new game just to change it. I just want to rush through to Cold Steel 2 before my backlog gets even bigger when Cold Steel 3 releases this year.
Dammit Im still in Reverie Corridor and I will never Finish CS2 until CS3 is released in PS4.... And now Im required to NG+!??? REST IN PIECES ME......... I dont care as long as I see Laura again!!!!
I beated Cold Steel 1 easily without the need to NG+ or cared to NG+ RPGs thinking the plot is sufficient... But hiding this many plot into NG+ for CS2 means i'll save myself the trouble and look it up when CS3 comes out...
A second playthrough is necessary anyway to view all bonding events so i don't really mind it. Hell I've played CS1/2 five times now and 6th b4 i play CS3 to refresh myself.
I think it's perfectly fine though. I think it adds to the replayability factor to add some Easter eggs/ lore in the NG+. Though that's coming from someone who always plays all Trails games more than once.
i played all three cold steel games to completion , what is quite puzzling to me is the fact that there is a gap in time between COLD Steel 2 & 3 and in that gap a lot of stuff happened and those were not touched upon on game 3 except a few tidbits here and there . i really hope they restore the proper timeline and tell us what happened in game 4 , i mean don't get me wrong game 3 was a masterpiece and i really hope game 4 follows suite without leaving anything behind
As someone who got into the series because of the heavy lore and marathoned the games back to back.Hearing that I missed something because it’s NG+ annoys me a bit.
Yeah just finished my replay a bit ago seeing as I was waiting for a closer release date before I did my second run and this really should have just been in the first run of the game. Locking behind NG+ was just stupid. I even got spoiled on who Thomas was since the promotional material back before CS3 got brought out was in the aspect that you knew about this.
now subbed to the channel saw that 3 is coming to the switch and part of it reminded me of 1 and i forgot to play it atleast i have something to dig research into to understand
I had a bit of a breakdown in Cold Steel 2 already. I finished the first one just weeks before the second came out on PS4, so I didn't look into the story recap. And then I was wondering, why the hell they all were talking, villain included, about that one time they all were in Ymir. They keep refering to it all the way through the first Act. Oh, what a great time everyone had, and the adventure and the battle ... Wait a minute ... why can't I remember any of this? How was I to know, that this happened on a Drama CD, not in the game? True, it IS in the recap and there it even tells you where you can read the whole thing for free, but ... why lean so heavily on something that most people probably don't even know was there? I really love the games, maybe even more than Trails in the Sky, but .. why?!?
i know 100% im at ng+ i finished alias ending my first time. i think im either in my 2nd or 3rd playthrough of the game. i got left off in act 2 i think. i was doing it with a guide this last run until my vita button camera kept spinning which made me unable to play so im continuing from where i left off. didn't knew about that ng+ exclusive scene but i was gathering all of the black books cant wait for tocs3
At least it now looks likely that we will get Cold Steel 4 sometime in 2020, if the two year gap between Japan and WW releases with the first three games hold true...
I'm the type of guy who played cs2 on easy mode just because I know how long the first one was + i played the liberl and crossbell series just before that. So I wanted to concentrate on the story but I'm not sure I would find enough time to do NG+ although I'm amazed at how well built is this universe
Thank you!!! I was going to replay CS1 & 2 before 3 released, but I just didn’t have time. I knew about the black records but had no idea they would lock a scene like this to NG+ along with them.
SPOILER HEAVY COMMENT MAYBE:I can't believe how much context this would have provided. I knew something was wrong when Rean mentioned this conversation because it didnt sound familiar, but wow. My memory may be bad, but was the nature of the Erobonian Sept terrions (being a plural), as well as the secrets of the divine knights, discussed this way at all in CS2 outside of this? Its interesting how important this conversation was in CS2 and how much more Lysander revealed in CS3. The guy provided more lore than any other character in the CS series lol.
Held off on watching this till i finished CS2 of course, i finished it today and I'm excited for the potential CS3 PC port soon, and i gotta say... Spoilers below. Holy fuck, honestly this is the one plot twist that shocked me the most, i mean, it was obvious he was more than meets the eye but... THE SECOND DOMINION? AND ROSINE IS A SQUIRE? That just blew my mind.
Let me know if you like this sort of video and want more. I've got like 4 terabytes of Cold Steel 1 & 2 footage to work with.
I have a hacked vita with both trails of cold steel 1 and 2 does this mean I will have to get it on ps4 now?

So yeah, thank you :)
played trails of cold steel 1 & 2 but couldn't be bothered with a new game +.
oh yeah, this has an easter egg in the av store in tokyo xanadu +
They are wearing their dlc outfits from ToCS 2 as well
Didnt realize this was a secret scene,I just unlocked it without knowing. My real purpose of playing NG+ was to have Crow as a party member again
I didn't know that it was in the second game, I went straight from the 2nd game to the 3rd. Boy was I shocked...
I am somehow just finding this video 3 years later, having just beaten Cold Steel 1-4 in about 10 days
NOW I HAVE TO GO BACK AND PLAY 2-4 ALL OVER AGAIN
RELEASE DATE 24 SEPTEMBER LETS GOOOOOOOOO
S I K E
"Who the hell am I"
I think he he means
"Who the Gahenna am I"
I’m already on that. This is my first time playing Cold Steel 2. It has been a great ride so far.
Just finished Cold Steel 2 thanks for making this video saved me a ton of trouble and that scene damn it all makes so much sense now. Now on to the elusive Crossbell Duology.
I just finished my NG+ this week, had to take a few months break in between
Just wanted to say thank you for posting this
Man imagine if they did the Mass Effect route and you could carryover data to sequel games. That'd be awesome.
Thanks. I never would have done second playthrough just for that
Dude these are amazing! Hope you do more with the Crossbell arc games :D
All the arteria and church stuff is the biggest and most important thread throughout the franchise
Just looking for content regarding the NG+ scene and i come across a youtuber who passed away? Damn.
2:15 Oh _That's_ what you are on about. My mind kept blanking and I was only thinking of the optional boss XD
For those who don't know. The NG+ Content is also referred to as "Black Records" And NO thats not a Spoiler.
This Comment is for those ppl who stopped watching at around 3:50
I WANT TO KNOW, but i haven't played that far yet...
I'll wait :P
This series is so amazing. I'm really happy that I have so much more to work through
I've beaten Cold Steel 2 20 minutes ago and now I'm here
My favorite game series
Falcom always did this with Cold Steel. Let's think about the CD Dramas for example, it's even suggested on their website, if I remember, to watch/read them. And in Cold Steel IV they even put stuff from the manga and I was so confused because I couldn't understand what they were talking about.
Played cold steal one and two back to back but couldn’t pass the first dungeon in 3 from serious burn out. Replaying it again I remember the big plot points but forgot half of the subplots
Beautiful stuff that you’re doing
This new plot twist wasn't a huge surprise to me, especially after playing Trails in the Sky. I recommend you to play that series before CS3.
And I finished the game in 110 hours. Granted I played it on hard which lead to longer battles and some restarts, but I don't get how you can finish it in half of that time. Are you expected to play via a guide or something? That would be ridiculous.
Probably Turbo Mode being used, it really cuts down on time quite a lot.
If you use turbo mode it cuts down the time with battles and running from A to B by a pretty significant amount. I'm taking my time with the game since cs3 won't be out till September
I heard this and just grabbed a save someone had to watch the scenes
i wasnt going to do any NG+ stuff until i was through all the available games. iv gone though everygame from Sky FC to cold steel 2 in a bit over a month... wrapping up the epiloge in CS2 soon then moving right in to CS 3 & 4. then ill start it alllll over again on NG+ Nightmare for every game.
I played cold steel 3 with out playing none of the others is not as bad just do your homework there’s books and info everywhere
Sorry about that."
And the Anime was a downer.. it hasnt answerd the question what happened with Rean, just when.

I was just about to start a new game plus on Nightmare difficulty (Trails of Cold Steel 2), yes I have transfer my last save from PS3 to PS4.
Thank you.
Thank you for this. Make me reaaall hype to play the 3rd one
I wasnt gonna do NG+ looked this up. Rosine was actually weird at end of cs2 when i played and knew something off with Thomas. This should def been included and you be guided towards
Played game twice but not NG+...still missed this
Thanks
I'm glad I won't have to play NG+ just for this scene. But hell that was a good chunk of lore.
You're talking about that scene eh? Yeah I've seen it already. Good on expanding on the lore of Erebonia's past.
Yeah terrible decision from Falcom, Cold Steel 2 took me 100 hours, no way i was going to do NG+ instead of just going to CSIII.
Played 1 but felt burnt-out after. Now dropping 2 rip my wallet for buying all of them
Joke on you this quarantine is helping me wonders on all these ng+ i'm doing lol
You two are awesome! Thanks for the support. Haha! I’m looking forward to continuing on.
@@dra6o0n Yeah good point
A second playthrough is necessary anyway to view all bonding events so i don't really mind it. Hell I've played CS1/2 five times now and 6th b4 i play CS3 to refresh myself.
I think it's perfectly fine though.
I think it adds to the replayability factor to add some Easter eggs/ lore in the NG+.
Though that's coming from someone who always plays all Trails games more than once.
thanks for the vidéo i have finished Cold steel 2 last week
i played all three cold steel games to completion , what is quite puzzling to me is the fact that there is a gap in time between COLD Steel 2 & 3 and in that gap a lot of stuff happened and those were not touched upon on game 3 except a few tidbits here and there . i really hope they restore the proper timeline and tell us what happened in game 4 , i mean don't get me wrong game 3 was a masterpiece and i really hope game 4 follows suite without leaving anything behind
As someone who got into the series because of the heavy lore and marathoned the games back to back.Hearing that I missed something because it’s NG+ annoys me a bit.
It's hard to believe this is blocked behind a new game plus playthrough. WTF
I dunno if this scene is necessary by any means. Once you play all four games, it's just, understood that it was happening already.
Its been a year ive seen someone talking about this series
Sara is Hot
Yes she is
@@Animeoatku85jr Aww thanks!
i'm on my fourth playtrough =)
Held off on watching this till i finished CS2 of course, i finished it today and I'm excited for the potential CS3 PC port soon, and i gotta say...
Spoilers below.
Holy fuck, honestly this is the one plot twist that shocked me the most, i mean, it was obvious he was more than meets the eye but...
THE SECOND DOMINION? AND ROSINE IS A SQUIRE?
That just blew my mind.
