  • It was a bit of a hike, but worth it. Vailima is a suburb of Apia. Taken on Monday 30/June/2014.

Nice footage. He is the best author for me since the well known Treasure Island. Thank you.🖐

I was in Apia in 93 . If only I made the effort . Loved Samoa and Samoan culture. Saw my very first union rugby match there. Manu Samoa vs. Fiji . F-n epic !

Smoking (if that’s even true) had nothing to do with his early death. He was as sickly as a child, and moved to Samoa for health reasons. He lived as long as God intended him to live.

I would like to see his grave as I've always enjoyed reading about him. i think the little chain around the grave is recent but I could be wrong. There is a photo on the web of his burial. How did they manage to get him up the steep path and later the heavy tomb thing?

Jim Burke the chain is recent they also added another coat of paint due to tourist vandalizing his tomb covering it with graffiti and carving their names into it.

@@lmoefaauo Just curious Lmoe: how do you know it's tourists who are vandalising his tomb? It could be locals. Besides, a chain is going to stop someone who really wants to do damage.

@@TripsandFeasts1 In the 80s, when I lived there, it was a popular spot to bring a few bottles of Vailima beer and hang.

lovely view of trash cans and plastic bottles... if this is supposed to be a tribute to RLS... disgraceful.
