Rachmaninoff: Romance for Violin and Piano in A minor (with score)

- Sergei Rachmaninov’s first ever composition wasn’t an epic piano workout, it was this gorgeous Romance for violin.
It’s not even blessed with a proper Opus number, but Rachmaninov’s Romance in A minor for violin and piano would surely stand up against his later, more famous works. It's thought it was written sometime in the 1880s, when the composer would've been a teenager at the oldest - it could even have been written before he even reached double figures. Like so many of Rachmaninov’s great works, melody is the star here. Just lock into that violin line and follow it all the way: it’s a treasure trove of delightful chromatic lines and expert phrasing.
Unknown Performers
I just have decided to listen to every single piece from Rachmaninov. This one is already bringing me into tears.
It’s going to be a long journey, folks !
On Wikipedia there’s an entire list of all music he ever wrote, it helped me tremendously in my journey
@@donnytello1544 yeah that’s my reference as well! I am struggling to find his operas though, did you?
bien venu au club des amoureux de RACHMANINOV🙏🌺
@@fabriceclement6587the óperas are not many:
1. Скупой рыцарь (The Miserly Knight)
2. Алеко (Aleko)
3. Франческа да Римини (Francesca da Rimini)
My favourite composer by far
Can you believe that this is Rachmaninoff's first composition?
This hints of his great genius which is to come
At what age did he write it?
Can you please put a link to the score?
@@thescreenviewer1349 he might have been about 15 years old
Second
This guy never wrote anything that was any less than first rate.
Marvelous, already as a teenager, he has this artistic overview and knowlegde how to make a masterpiece, yes I agree his melodic qualities are prominent although his vast harmonic landscape is also touching the surface here, the gigantic harmonic structures are revealing very rapidly in his coming production. A genius.
Not even as a teenager, he was 11 when he wrote this. 1 1
Incredible peace pure music I love it!...
very nice to have the score for reading...
素晴らしい👏👏👏
Divinement belle romance, une complainte fort bien exprimée par le violon 🙏🎶💓🎶
At around 5:14, the sheet music doesn't seem to match up with the audio. The audio shifts up an octave for the last two repetitions of the pattern C B A C, but the sheet music doesn't indicate that change.
It might be the performer's choice. How are you so sure the sheet music is wrong?
@@ClassicalMusicDIGITALIZED Sorry, I didn't realize that my comment implied the sheet music is wrong. I'm learning the violin part of this piece right now and want some clarification.
@@cygnus2201might be a choice of the performer or a different edition. Another example: The Legende by Wieniawski. Some editions don’t write a sordini marking at the end but sotto voce. Also in my edition the last note of the last arpeggio is notated an octave lower without an 8va marking, because it would have reached into the line above. Nonetheless it is clear, that it should be played an octave higher than notated.
franchement ? oui RACHMANINOV vit en moi, quelque part: ou ? je ne serais dire ! 🙏🌺
Allá vamos❤

Not going to lie I’d much rather it be Bach Beethoven Rachmaninoff, rather than Bach Beethoven Mozart
I agree rach is simply unreal. I think there's just more depth to his work
Doesn't this sound like howls moving castle ??
True
Many of the film composers take inspiration from classical composers or are heavily influenced by them
howl‘s moving castle sounds like rachmaninov.
it sounds like Schubert's Ave maria. same structure in piano
