Forget Juan Soto, you would be out of your mind to pay that guy that kind of money. Yankees would be absolutely insane to pay 400M 500M etc for one guy. This is what got the team in trouble in the first place over the past several years. Develop your own players.
Finally some honesty with where the real problems are
Great question Joel: are they further or closer to a ring. Not!
To Kay's point: changing a GM means changing a whole philosophy...bingo!!! THATS WHAT THE YANKEES NEED!! LETS DO IT!!
How can you respect Aaron Boone who bends his knees before Brian Cashman?
Because all managers do at this point. Their GM is their boss. If Boone goes against his boss, he loses his job. There are no more hard asses in the managerial ranks anymore
@@josephchirichella761 Bruce Bochy doesn’t do it.
Soto was so-so with the Padres.
Kay also care more about his job and falling in line then this teams honor and tradition. Sad to see bc of the leverage he doesn’t realize he actually has. This team will always be content w the past and it’s money now
All I will say is baseball went from the extremely restrictive reserve clause to the insanity of guaranteed contract and all that entails.
Clarke Schmidt was a huge injury that nobody mentions.
It was that Saturday game in Boston with roden pitching that took our balls and confidence
There are 2 issues:
1) culture problem with no public accountability. There is private but not enough
2) losing their 3rd 4th and 5th best hitters (Stanton Rizzo Dominguez) with their 6th and 7th best hitters (Gleyber and DJ) underachieving
Those are the problems
8:00 Girardi tried to fix Yankee lazy play with Gary Sanchez and literally got fired for it… Boone literally can’t fix it even if he wanted to
If the Yankees trade Dominguez, they’re nuts! I am a Volpe fan. Spencer Jones for a guy, that nobody thinks is great, they all asked for him.
Boone I agree with you guys. What about Alex Cora and Verdugo.
Torres played winter ball last year-great shape and it’s killing him no extension.
I am not a Boone hater but he has lost control of the team. There is no hit and run. No stolen bases. Because, when someone gets on, it’s too valuable.
Dominguez was supposed to replace Stanton. You don’t trade Dominguez. Anyone else is fair game.
The yankee groupies are upset. Love it
It's interesting that Joel brought up Volpe, as this has also perplexed me. At the beginning of the season, it appeared that his entire approach had massively upgraded. There was plate discipline and fundamentals. Now, it appears he's regressed to what we saw last year, more of a "grip and rip" approach. In retrospect, I wonder if moving him into the prominent lead-off role, plus the pressure he may put on himself to live up to expectations may have caused him to abandon the positive changes that seemed to work so well.
They have an iffy rotation, a scrapheap bullpen, and no offensive production from 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, and C. How the fuck does anyone expect them to go far???
No one is saying for Boone to rip his players publicly. There are many ways good managers hold their players accountable without it having to public. Boone simply isn't a winning manager bc he doesn't make changes on the fly. Glyber has been non chalanting it forever under Boone & that shouldn't be acceptable. Doesn't matter what Boone believes it hasn't worked in all these years. The reality is that Boone will not win a WS w the NYY!
Grisham won that game for the Yankees vs the Ray on Weds July 10...2 RBI and that great Catch in Deep Center in the 8th inning to save the game.. .The Yankees won 2 - 1
Judge would not have caught that
The Yanks cannot lose Soto under any circumtances.... they lose Soto and the team is a tear down. Save judge~ Torres gone, DJ and Rizzo a shell~ Stanton is toast going forward after 35 ... it s a team with 1 guy.
But I think the point is you really need a whole team of dudes who are good and have some passion to play winning ball. On or two or even 3 or four superstar guys is not going to cut it.
With the contradictory from the front office to the dugout I can imagine guys like Soto and judge must be tired. The bad players get applauded by Boone . If not not then when will the Yankees change this homerun or nothing philosophy
How is Jaason the biggest blow?He is a prospect coming off of Tj and only hit thirty at bats and hasn't played in a long time. That's why this team get these problems. I
Kay constantly defends Boone because he doesn’t want to lose access to Boone.
I can give you a whole analysis but I don't want it to be fodder for your next and future columns.
NYY are skin deep.....and old. Baseball is a game with many notes.... the Yanks ignore too many of them.
I seen an volpe rookie card for 135k.....I seen a rod carew that there is only one in the world for same price ....what's wrong with this planet
Mikey Kay is all bout excuses & justifications. It's so evident he's works for the Yankees & is controlled by them. He'd be a great Yankee mgr!
He’s an egotistical pig.
The Yanks tanking is not surprising. They are terrible. There's no sîgn that this will change anytime soon. They're a .500 club at best. They're going to lose any credibility they built in the first 2 months of the season. These are the real Yanks, sadly going nowhere.
Brother I don’t think you know what tanking means😭 tanking means intentionally losing, they’re not purposely losing they’re playing bad baseball, they’re not good enough
@@Jhaokeh when you continue to play.200 hitters w no possible upside that's tanking. After Soto and Judge there's no one else who can hit. Yes I know tanking sadly and this is what it looks like.
@@gattopardoman1550 dawg they’re playing .200 hitters bc they have no one else
@@gattopardoman1550 cmon bro u really think they’re intentionally trying to lose stop it😭
@@JhaokehI hear you and understand your POV. Wish I could see it differently. Bring up more rooks. DJ has been given more than a fair chance. He's injured or lost his fire but a major leaguer he's not anymore. Why give our opponent an easy out or DP as he limps down the line? There's no fight in this club and nothing is going to change. Judge has run out of happy talk. Pitiful.
1 World Series in 24 years. Cashman and his culture need to go. He won’t, it’s a joke. Their motto- we’ll get”em tomorrow.
3 years in a row of them dropping off. Bad contracts, no heart. Don’t play their farm system. Won’t trade their farm system. Sorry, definition of overrated.
Cashman is overrated. Yankees bank roll, Yankees history… come on. Another GM would be better.
Cashman is pure manure. The dude has been the GM for almost 30 years. That's a pure joke
Why are they shitting on Grisham? It’s not like the Yanks went after him. Padres wanted to get rid of him in the Soto trade. Grisham was one of the main reasons they won last night against TB. He’s playing now because of injuries. Get off his nutsack!!!
