    230,000 people killed… that’s absolutely insane

Not as insane as world wide diarrhea death.
"Diarrheal diseases are among the most common causes of death, especially in children.
In 2021, around 1.2 million people died from diarrheal diseases. That was equivalent to all violent deaths combined.1
Around 390,000 of these deaths were among children and adolescents."

Before this disaster people could only imagine what a Tsunami would be like from Japanese art, but after seeing it real time it changed the whole world's perspective on how terrible they can be. A frightening event indeed.

The earth itself shook for 3 seconds; something that is not discussed...much...

People need to remember these things! The U.S. has plenty of coastline, where things unforeseen can happen!
It’s been said there’s a large nat gas field in the Atlantic if it cut loose could cause havoc. I don’t know if it’s true or not, but…..

Well, there also is the LA Palma Mega Tsunami threat that will destroy our entire East coast from Boston all the way down to Miami.

Wow, I didn’t know that it was that long ago.
It was the most devastating disaster I’ve ever seen.

Even more deadly was the Tangshan earthquake in China in 1976, and the Bangladesh cyclone in 1970!

True, and I'm old enough to remember both of those events.

What a devastating event. I watched the documentary and it was very well done. Such a heartbreaking tragedy told through the first hand experience of those who were there.

I remember. Couldn't bring myself to turn the Christmas lights on after that. Christmas was just over. Absolutely not trying to make it about me, just did not feel right to celebrate. So Awful.

When things like this happens, natural disaster, nobody thanks God for it, when if anything, God would most likely b responsible, if u r a God believer. God gets all the credit for good events, but not for bad events, lol.
