When China does so, Taiwan will turn to the US for help as the US is Taiwan's strongest ally. Because of the turmoil here at home, economic repercussions, and Biden's weak stance, the US will try to "beg" China to back off through meaningless diplomacy when such actions against US allies calls for strong military response. No such response will come from the Biden administration. This will further weaken foreign leaders' view of the US and undermine the trust US allies have in US aid. China sees the US as weak now and thinks the US economy depends on trade with China. Only a swift show of military force to defend our Taiwanese allies will stall or stop such a Chinese agenda.
