@Sai Nai name me the other countries. I wanna go through their history. Btw did u ever heard of International Mother Language Day?? If not, go through the details of this event on Wiki!
@Sai Nai I am commenting here after doing research, there were two martyrs, Thalamuthu and Natarajan. But the circumstances were different, it is said that their death was due to sickness [debatable]. Not to be biased, but that protest in 1938 was a totally different scenario. Tamil language movement could be intense but ended due to second world war. So, by rule Bengali is the only language people sacrificed their lives for. But nothing to take away from Tamilian's, their movement were as righteous as Bengalis. I believe everyone should have right to speak their mother tongue.
Duniya means earth/world in Bangla, Hindi and Urdu language. The rappers are rapping in Local language of Old Dhaka. They used several imagery of both Hindu and Muslim mausoleums. It would be easier to show with pictures and videos. In mausoleums, they use red cloth (lal kapor) to cover the cemetery. They use the dry coconut fiber to create smokes etc. In this song, there are references of four cities, namely Munich, Bonn, Cologne, Berlin .... kidding😊, it's Azmeer, Kolkata, Dhaka, Chittagang. They are from old Dhaka, Chittagong and Azmeer have of Muslim saints, Kolkata has ashram or something like that. They also talked about different kinds of folksongs-Polligeeti, Vatiali etc. And finally, they talked about how different people are crazy about different things, like some are crazy about money, some food, some god and so on.
Also the line bakshe bondi lokkho pagol which translates to 'millions of madmen locked in boxes' refers to all of those people who repress their urge to 'live free' as they are tied down by so many responsibilities. Basically this song acknowledges we all are part of the world wide madness in our own way. @cojakrap
You have given a great explanation. Thanks for this. I thought disqualified Bangali just make low level Review Videos but there is someone from Germany who is looking for views and subscribers.
A proper reaction at last. I glad U focused on the lyrics.... And yes u need a lot of background knowledge to understand the overall thing. But i am so happy seeing such a proper reaction!!
Hey man, thanks for the reaction. You are absolutely right about a lot of things - that’s what I respect about your reaction. Firstly, its hard to “literally” translate Bangla. Bangla language uses many inference which gets lost in translation. Basically if I explain the song, the singer sings about the people of the world (dunia) who always refers to the writer (lalon) as a pagol (mad person) - a general discrimination handed down from generation because he gave up materialistic happiness and goes around singing and begs for money through his art- subsequently his followers afterwards. Lalon through this song tells the bullies, “you may call us mad but you are also crazy, and this world revolves around craziness - the world won’t run if there were no crazy people alive. “ The rapper groups in BD are also discriminated - their songs are not deemed “civilized” . In BD we call rap songs “khepa gaan ( songs out of anger). The inclusion of them with lalon’s song was well thought out. Jalali set basically pays tribute to all crazy artists, the people from rural parts of the country (who are not modern) , to the gypsies and to poets who are again considered crazy in their owns ways. Basically its a big f u to the people who has given up to the MAN and lives a life of a rebel. And it ends with, if you are not crazy than you won’t see paradise.
I am from Bangladesh and I know my language very well. But I had to listen to this song 5 times to understand the rap. You can not discribe this lyrics in English. It is simply not possible. Btw nice reaction. 😍
Thanks a lot for the honest reaction. To be honest, Bangla language is a bit difficult to catch as it is one of the most richest languages in the world.
From what I understood from the rap as a Bangladeshi is that its giving example on the passion/madness/obsession on things people encounter in life. Each person is passionate/mad/obsessed with his own thing and the coming to the overal meaning of the song that all these passions/madnesses/obsessions eventually take the world forward.
Basically the rappers were saying we're all mad for specific things (dance, food, art, God, and etc.) About the word "Duniya" it's original academic meaning is "everything worldly". But in Bengali, it has several meanings depending on how / when we apply in a sentence. Sometime it also means, "current state".
We joke about mad people but we all are mad in our innerselves. The world runs through madness. There are teachers everywhere but it's madness to teach everyone while not agreeing to teach ownself. This is what the core of the song is.....
Dunia means "world". it's a versatile and strong word. It can be your reality, or your imaginary existence. "this mad world, spins of madness.." I hope you can relate what I'm talking about
Regarding your question at 12:10 : Duniya means the material world we live in. Islamic concept, came to Bangla from Arabic language as Bengal got Islamized over the centuries since 12th-13th century. Pagol chara duniya cholena = This material world doesn't function without madness. Some people are crazy about the material world. On the other hand, to access the divine, you need to be crazy as well.
Lalon wrote this song PAGOL Chara Dunia Chole Na with very deep lyrics and the rappers made this song to another level Lalon band and jalali set are 🔥 theme of this song is every one is crazy on his own but this madness is a blessing
Amio vai....prarthona ganer reaction e ami blchilam...or jonno ei gaane surprise ache...5 din dhoira khali youtube dhuika e dekhchi reaction krse kina...cz unio rapper.
I was waiting for your reaction on this since you r rapper. This song is difficult to decode even for Bangladeshi people. You can call it a spiritual song. The Female singer here is Nigar Sumi who is the lead vocalist of a popular Banladeshi Band name 'Lalon' They are famous to fuse folk songs with Rock, specially 'Lalon Geeti'. Fakhir Lalon Shai was a spiritual master/Saint/Sadhu who has written many folk, spiritual songs. I m not sure wheather this Bhober Pagol is written by Him, but at list this type of folk song and Lalon Geeti definitely have a connection. Anyways, This song is about madness, its basically used here metaphorically. Pagol in Bengali means 'Mad person' and 'Bhober' here is used spiritually which means 'Duniya' Bhober pagol is someone who has lost his identity in search of God/ Devinity. We use 'mad' 'crazy' this type of word often to question one's Sanity, But in this case it is used to describe some one who has lost himself in search of Devinity and we cant think our world without them.
There's a group of folk music in Bengal which mainly deals with mysticism. Some are Muslim and people from other religions too try to understand the philosophy of life. To understand life they sometimes takes a detour, the path that's not taken by the common people, not prescribed in religious books. Such a person who leaves normal society and involves in music and understanding life often live an ascetic life. In Bangladesh they are sometimes called mad. Mostly because of their strange livelihood ( they often survive by begging and presenting music for general people for very little money)and tendency to question established social rules. One of their key element is finding a guide or murshid who will show him/ her the path of enlightenment ( A concept that's borrowed from Sufism and to some extent Hinduism). The songwriter says here that everyone has some sort of obsessiveness in them. As he/she's searching like crazy his Master there's no need to call him crazy. If others' passion for different things are valid his passion is valid too. Though he/ she had been calling the master with pure intent he/ she recognized this pattern how people going desperately after what they want with the same vigor and intent. This passion is the driving force running the world.
I am speaking from Bengali country, 3 famous songs are sung together in this song, so it is so famous in my country and this song is loved by everyone in my country.
Good evening Bro , Coke studio Bangla just released another new song 30 minutes back . Title of the song is Chilety Road by Arnob X Ripon . Very nice song , different than other songs . Thanks
Someone is mad for music, some for the earth, some for the Almighty. The rap just said that all of us are mad in the world but Each one in a different way and for individual things.
This song in bangla is very meaningful. translation wont help you. the words are not modern too. it origins longgg back. tribute to the great LALON SHAH. the bangla used here is very ancient and traditional. english will help less
First part of the song us philosophical, madness of us(hidden). This song is written by Fakir Lalon shah ,a philosopher. U should definitely listen him. And also our old school rap band "Jalali Set"
It's really a spiritual song written by Fakir Lalon Shah. The Guide /Guru is our lord/ Almighty. And we are here on the earth for our Almighty, and we all are crazy from within to meet our creator, to get love from.
As far as I know this song is not written by Lalon Shah. Check the description of the song - "Collected from folk songs and popularized by Lalon band". No mention of Lalon Shah.
The members of the jalali set were some of the first persons to represent bangla rap to the world. And no offence i personally like their bangla rap anyone else whether its kanye, travis scott or drake or emminem . Proud of them.

Man you are sooo off about the rap part. They are not a mainstream act just there for a commercial verse. The founder MC mugz is an old school Bangla rap pioneer who grew up in queens , NYC and later was part of the legendary "Deshi MCs" rap group after moving to his home country Bangladesh in 2006-07. He founded jalali set with the dopest lyricists and these guys go madd deep in the slangs and lyrical penmanship. Check them out on UA-cam.
