UPDATE: I added the free written pattern in the description of this video so you guys can find it easier. Some people have been asking to purchase the PDF version so you can do that here: www.etsy.com/listing/1623850230/no-sew-jellyfish-amigurumi-pdf-pattern?ref=share_v4_lx Thanks for all the love on this one!
Finally! Someone who gave me the tutorial I needed. I basically gave up trying to learn how to crochet but was determined at 40 (with 2 kiddos who love crochet plushies) that I was going to learn. I had to restart a couple times, but I got it! And the finished product looks great. Now I just need to hide it until I can make a second 😂
I told myself I wanted to learn how to do this before Christmas and your video was literally the only one I could understand and follow. So here I am, FIRST PLUSHIE MADE and I’m super stoked about it.
I've been very crocheting for just over a year I know that doesn't sound that long but I started to crochet at the age of 8 and half ( I'm 10 now ) and I used to crochet non-stop like I used to wake up and straight away crochet and your teaching has just been the best
I started to crochet about two months ago, and I just finished my first amigurumi thanks to you. It turned out SO GOOD thanks to your amazing explanations. Thank you so much for this video!
I read that anything with tentacles help preemies. In fact, I’m crocheting octopuses for my local children’s hospital. I read that these type of “toys” while being next to baby, add more oxygen to their blood, the tentacles act like an umbilical cord, it helps keep the baby’s heart rate up, and it also helps them breath better. Also, the soft body of the toy, reminds them of when they were inside their mother’s womb, and it also helps them from pulling their cords off of their faces. So, these toys are a miracle toy, trying to help save a little miracle in more ways than one☺️!
Thank you for this. :) I made it for someone that had made me a little octopus. As a return gift. I want to compliment on the way you explain things. This was extremely easy to follow. Well done.
Thank you so much, I have been crocheting for more than 60 years and this was my first amigurumi, you did a wonderful job walking this old lady through the steps. I think I will try another.
I am new to crocheting. One of the high school students I teach convinced me that I could learn how on UA-cam, so I gave it a try. The first video I watched was fine, but when I made this jellyfish, I was SO impressed by your teaching ability! You are clear and concise, and you move slowly enough when starting each new stich that even I was able to learn how! And my grandson loves his colorful jellyfish. Thank you!
hi Alinna, i have just barely started to crochet and i am a lefty so i always try to find left handed vids but it never really works out. i stumbled upon your video and thought "wow maybe i can use my brain to flip it and try, " this only worked because of how good of a teacher you are thank you!
I have NEVER been able to make anything other than a simple blanket or scarf! I always try then give up very quickly, becoming super frustrated. I made my first amigurumi because of you! I definitely messed up a couple of times and it's not perfect, but it is a JELLYFISH! He has eyes, stuffing, tentacles, the works and I think it is now my favorite thing I have ever made (mistakes, quirks, and all!) I had tears of joy when I finished him, He has a rainbow body, purple and teal tentacles, and brown eyes. My 13-year-old son named him squiggles and is keeping him on his bookshelf. I've just orders more eye colors because of you as well, i didn't know they had so many different kinds! I never leave comments, but I just had to thank you!!
Love this pattern! Thanks for sharing it! I have been looking for a easy jelly fish pattern to crochet and donate to the NICU my son was in when he was born. It helps the babies in there to not pull on the cords when they set the jellyfish next to them, the babies instead grab the tentacles 💕
so uh. funny story here. i crocheted myself one of these little guys some months back, and for my friend's birthday i decided to make her one as well, since she loved mine so much. i found the loops & threads royal velvet yarn and thought it looked so soft and beautiful, and bought some. i didn't know it was size 7 jumbo yarn. the recommended hook size was 19mm, i used a 10mm hook. his head is the size of a basketball. i like 'em big, i like 'em chunky !!
This is my first project where I have completed Atleast the first part of the videos (the 6 tentacles) and I’ve been trying so hard to actually complete one and I’m so happy with my progress I’m making!
I’ve made 2 jellyfish today. Your pattern is excellent! I have been using all kinds of different patterns for jellyfish and yours by far is the best. I did have trouble with the written instructions and had to come to the video to understand. I usually do not have a problem with written patterns.
Thank you for this video and written pattern! I watched a lot of videos of people showing you how to make tentacles, and honestly, yours is the best!! There is one that is way more complicated than it needs to be, another one where they make a chain and do double crochets all the way up and twist it with their finger to give it the shape. Who woulda thought there were so many ways, but in my opinion, your way is the best way for me, hands down!! Thank you!
What an excellent tutorial. It was easy to follow and comprehend. My mom taught me when I was little, but I only used the sc and dc method. I will make one and tag you on Instagram. You have a new subscriber. Thanks for sharing.
A tip for the tentacle attachment: if you dont want to tie then in later, crochet them to the body during row 19. Since the row alternates between single crochet snd decrease stitches, simply add them in during each single crochet.
Omg After 8 hours (5:00 pm to 12:09 am) I still didn’t finish! tommorow I will finish it and probably buy safety eyes since I didn’t have any. I am so proud of myself of what I’ve done so far and you’ve been the best teacher yet! I love how u add lots of detail into how u do everything correctly which makes it a lot easier for beginners. Mine may not have turned out as perfect as yours, ( I can tell even when I just need to sew and make 3 more tentacles 🦑 🐙) but I’m still rapid and will continue to follow ur tutorials. U deserve a subscriber!❤🎉
Omg this is my first crochet project! I got a little confused when it looked like u we’re doing stitches from the outside but I got it! I made it and it came out really cute!please make more Amigurumi videos.
lovely tutorial, I look forward to making it later, very clear and concise and no need for extra tutorials for beginners. This will be my first jellyfish :)
I started crochet for the first time on Saturday and this is my first pattern I decided to follow it is now day 3 and I just finished my jellyfish of course I wasn't super prepared for my first project so I didn't have the correct eye size so mine looks derpy but error on my part I thought this tutorial was super easy to follow and other than I got the wrong yarn so my jellyfish is massive and has tiny eyes I think it's adorable and I love my new plush and it's even better cause I made it. I can't wait to continue crochet cause this was super fun
I loved this. I made one for my husband for Christmas. I want to do a spider and a dino next. Would you be willing to do a tutorial? Your video was by far the best teaching video I've seen yet! Great job

Loved this tutorial and the little jellyfish! You did a great job in how you explained every stitch! Kudos to you! If I were to do a larger version would I just keep increasing the rounds? If you could let me know I would really appreciate it! Thank you in advance! Mary
You could keep increasing but make sure you end up with a stitch count that’s divisible by 4 after your last row of increases, so that the shell stitches on the bottom are evenly spaced. Or you could just increase the size of your yarn and hook :)
This tutorial was so easy to understand and the stuffy came out so good! Thank you so much for posting this and I'm SO looking forward to you releasing more tutorials!
