- ★ How to Identify & Foraging for Wild Garlic (UK Country Walks)
Today's Project Diary Video I'm on a country walk with my Mum hoping to forage some amazing Wild Garlic Flowers and eat them for the first time. Please respect our Woodlands, stick to the paths and only eat things you're 100% sure are edible. If in doubt, Leave it out!

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THIS CHANNEL!!
The birdsong is amazing too
They were so loud in places I had to turn them down :)
I can tell you know how blessed you are to be able to take a walk with your mom. Treasure the simple things. Thanks, Lee.
After being unable to walk for 18 months I've definitely learnt to cherish the little things life has to offer :)
You bring positivity. Beyond comprehension...
Your mom is lovely !, that is why you are so fantastic !
I've been thinking about you lately and wondering where you were I've missed you so much it's so good to see your smile and to see that you're doing good and your mother to I'm happy now
Thank you so much!! I hope your happiness continues :)
So nice to see you both. Love the smell of wild garlic while out walking
The wild garlic leaves are an amazing addition to any salad. Something we look forward to each year. They seem to keep very well in the fridge, so we usually pick a good amount. We do make the point of picking not more than one leaf per plant, to not strip the bulb of too much foliage.
You mention bear's tastes for the bulbs. The species name of wild garlic "ursinum" comes from bear. As in Ursa Major, the great bear.
Hello mom, nice to see you, you've raised a truly wonderful son x
Take care all ;-)
Good to have you back Lee.
I think you are on to something , a nature walk video . I found I refreshing and informative . And having your mum in the video was awesome .
Thank you Lee! 😊 We love wild garlic in our house, its great isn't it! Ps. Its lovely to see you out and about! Wishing you all the best and good health! 💚
Aww, your mommy's pretty. That place is beautiful to walk through.
How lovely another day out with you this time to a beautiful wood. Those flowers were stunning and hearing the bird song just made for a special treat. I think it a Spanish bluebell. You look good beard suits you.
My girls love this stuff, they stuff their faces with it when we’re out on walks!
You’re back! Wonderful. I grow wild garlic in my back yard.
Wonderful!
Now I see it’s another species A. tricoccum
Lovely to see you and your mum and the forest, one of my favourite things to do although I dont get so see it much I'm glad you have put this video up. Love wild garlic so much I decided to buy 2 plants of them this year for my tiny semi shade garden, love them 😊
Be a little wary Cheryl they spread rapidly and are difficult to control;
after a while.
@@TheHardlove4u Thanks, yes I read they can be a bit invasive, they are still in their pots for now. 😊
At 3.20 that’s comfrey the BEST fertiliser for your garden when collected and left in tub of water then water the garden with it 🎉🎉 the results are AMAZING 🎉🎉🎉
A shady corner of my garden has been taken over by wild garlic and 3 cornered leek. Boy does it like to spread, it’s also managed to find its way into my polytunnel and pops up between the rasied beds and the plastic sides of the tunnel. 3 cornered leek is delicious in mash potatoes.
03:28 That's Comfrey, I forage for these to make fertiliser (because I live in a top floor flat - no garden, but fortunate to have a balcony).
Great to see you back! Hope you don’t disappear again!
That was amazing video clip you put together there with you an your mum going for a walk an talking about the right garlic to pick. 👍👍🧄🧄
Wonderful video! Thank you for the reminders about being responsible while foraging!
This guy is soo inspiring
Great to see you out and about. Young leaves of wild garlic make a fantastic pesto and are great in quiches, flowers are great in salads and as a garnish.
so good to see you and your mum Lee! I bet those flowers were delicious! 😍
Haven’t seen a project diary video in forever. How’s old mates health? He looks good and healthy!
I was thinking the same, hope all is well mate, would be great to see you on tiktok or even here✌🏽
Hi Mom!
Don't you just love walking in woodlands and areas like that?! So nice to see you with your Mum ... I look forward to your videos - so informative and you always give that big smile, I find myself smiling back. :)
I love the smell of Wild Garlic on walks in the wood. Come back in a few weeks and collect the seeds (Legal) and as you say....do not dig up the plants!
Great video as always, nice to see your Mum as well 👋👋👋 looking forward to the Bluebells 👍
Garlic is a food ingredient that has a good effect on our body.
I only knew it with garlic that can only be bought at the mart.
It was interesting to introduce wild garlic and tell you how to identify and collect it.👍👍👍
Brilliant many thanks once again for this insight and great to meet Mum too! x
Think this will be one of my favourite videos!
Beautiful
Great vid. There is a load of wild garlic near me. I'm going to forage some on the weekend :)
Wild garlic is brilliant I make wild garlic pesto it's really easy just make sure you pick wild garlic
It is indeed. Easy to freeze as well :)
Roughly chop them, make an omelette with them. Pick them young is better than picking them after flowering :) I've done that for years!
What a wonderful walk! Foraging for herbs and food is a great way to get your vitamins and growing wild is even better. You are looking healthy and lovely to meet your mum, thanks Lee for your video.
Great to see you out and about!
Great video . You looking happy and healthy !
Glad your back.
I love the smell of ramsons
glad to see you on the mend, wild garlic is very invasive, keep it in a pot,i have lost the battle in my front garden, no idea where it came from, even the tiniest bulb will grow as small as a pin head
Really to see your smily face Lee. Would love to see some guided Wild foraging videos 👍🏻
Yum! Thanks!
Loved this video! Thanks for sharing. Your laugh is great, infectious lol 🙂 x
I believe those blue flowered plants are Bugloss or Anchusa Azurea... a relative of Borage.
It's rained everyday throughout may but hey never say there won't be a sunny day here in may. On a side note those blue flowers you first showed are called scilla's
Good to see you out and about, gotta love garlic....
Love these videos. I'm learning so much. Thank you 🙂
Good video, I didn’t realise you can eat the garlic flowers too, you know what I will be doing today then 😁🧄👍
Loved the video; I have heard of wild garlic but thought it might be an urban myth 😯
Would love to see more videos of local wildlife as I feel I have lost touch since moving to London many years ago...
Thanks for this video.
So so lovely it is
I've never had wild garlic but I grow garlic chives in my herb garden. I have to pick the flowers before they go to seed or else I'll have it all over the garden.
Happy to see you up and about, glad to get a new video. I live in the Appalachian Mt range in the USA we get a wild garlic called "Ramps" these wild roots/plants are such a large part of our heritage we have special events dedicated to them. They grow so plentiful people go into the mountains dig them up and sale them at roadside stands.
This is sooooo beautiful. ...
Gorgeous and good info
Nice to see you out and about 👍
Thats a great video. I hope you can do more on foraging.
Please do more videos... love your channel.. take care of yourself
the forget me not looking plant is a type of comfrey known as green Alkernet its in the Borage family i have it growing in my garden that i grew from root cuttings
You can usually smell wild garlic (Ramsons) long before you see them. 👍 😎
Would love to see more of these, super relaxing. As for the Bluebell I think it's Spanish.
Beautiful view
It really was :)
Wonderful vodep
Ohhh! Something for me to look for here in the Finnish forests! Thank you for the video! 😊
You're welcome 😊
Oooo exciting! I have been wanting to see wild garlic! I wonder how the taste is different to the other kind?
Yaasss hunny xxx
Good vid mate
Thanks 👍
Lovely place, and a great video too!
Thanks 👌🏻
But did you realise that on your opening artwork you've written 'forgaing' instead of 'foraging'?
03:40 I can't remember what those Nettle lookalikes with the white flowers are called but they're edible and taste garlicky.
Here in the Midlands we call them stinking nannies x
I didn’t watch straight away because I wanted to make sure I had time to view straight to the end! Does wild garlic taste a bit like chives? Really want to try for myself!
Nice video lee, is it just the flower you eat or the stem as well ? I come across a lot of this but not sure what to eat.
There is a song by Genesis called Return of the giant hogweed :) It's cool. Check it out :)
Peace ....
Hi project diaries good to see you are you using the flowers or the leaves or both?
👍👍👍
Any plans to return later in the season to try to find wild garlic seeds for your garden?
Magic mushrooms 🤣
No girlfriend yet what are you waiting for you're a real catch

@@jackjackson3349 Don't speak to your father this way Jack.
@@HakramSing you've hit an all time low. So sad. 🤣
Lots of this about, easy to find just use your nose.....👃
So you have plant police so sad !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your voice is very monotone, can tell you are reading from Wikipedia.
And she's back with the same monotone negtive comment. Get your ears checked.
@@jackjackson3349 Stop picking old the elderly woman again please.
@@HakramSing you two need to find a new channel or get a life. Pathetic!
Your tone is very critical and mean, can tell you are an embittered, small person.
You have my sympathy.
Hannah, thats very unkind and unnecessary. Theres nothing wrong with the narration.
He is really REALLY annoying.
Lovely to see you back, please do more walkabout videos. The wild garlic leaves are delicious, I have only accidently eaten the flowers.
