Thanks for the videos. According to Nektar, a future update is coming that will free up the tempo knob for other things. Overall, good stuff in terms of favorite features. Regarding instruments, took me a minute to figure out that pressing the Channel button will get me to the instruments and the parameters for them, but I have not fully explored that yet and I feel it's not as straightforward as the FX inserts. Still, a very promising piece of gear.
I may be picky here but would it not of made sense for fader to be on the right side given so many people are right dominant so u are cross reaching for fader automation and such
Thanks for the video, got mine and love it especially for plugin automation and live tweaking. Have had many controllers and control surfaces but this one feels really integrated for that purpose. One thing I don’t get even when reading the manual - how do you assign the user1 and user2 parameters for instruments to use instead of smart controls? Can’t get the learn function to work as I expect. Thanks!
DID YOU GET ONE!! I owned the first Nektar P-1 and it was great for plugins but the faders were terrible since they were not motorized. I dropped it while cleaning the studio about 2 years ago and it shattered. I had been considering the SSL UC-1 and I saw this at NAMM last year and then never heard anything else about it until about a week ago. Its out of stock everywhere so I thought it still wasn't out yet. SHOOT I WANT ONE.
Thinking of buying it but too be honest if this is the best 5 you can come up with, I'm having doubts! Do these really blow you away? Just looks real awkward to use two hands crossed.
I’ve watched a dozen videos at least and am not sold on this device. Every step appears agonizingly slow compared to the 15 years of workflow I’ve cultivated with a standard Mac keyboard and Magic Mouse. I’m a full blown Logic fan and this device is just a very nice gimmick in my opinion. Waste of space and money that will likely disappear into update oblivion is my prediction.
This is interesting, I didn't know there were devices like this for controlling DAWs, though it makes sense. About that tempo knob, are you able to use it for tempo automation? Like hit record and as your song goes through you can speed it up and slow by turning the knob?
Nektar have said their architecture is such that they can just build plugin bridges for each extra DAW - I think I saw it in the interview with one of their reps from NAMM, it's on youtube
When you open a session with multiple tracks. Do they go out of alignment? I’m not even adjusting anything. Just navigating between tracks. Then all of a sudden playing back things are all out of time.
I was going to watch this but then I noticed the likes were hidden. Just a friendly tip, its a big taboo on YT to do that, especially since the dislikes were taken away, and you will lose engagement over it
@@LogicProLife In that case that's my mistake man, you got my view now. Apologies for that. Too used to people on YT doing that to pass off poor videos; it's just an automatic nope for me at this point
I love you’ve controllers. The problem is the realistic applicability. For example. Automation. If I am in 100 track project. And I’m creating a static mix, where I’m neutralizing a pianos peaks and troughs to -22 LUFS. I could have as many as 60 points of automation in a five minute line. With bucket, swoops and exponential curves. (Curve tool). The idea that I would sit there with a touchpad like nektar and holding down a shift key and twirl the knob and then move the play head and then repeat the process is about zero. Fader riding ? That’s probably more applicable. But how many of this functionalities would I actually use ?
I can’t wait to have this in my studio and other DAWS can link up with this unit!!! This is a game changer for LPX!!!🔥🔥🔥
I was almost giving up on Nektar, but then knocked it out of the park with this one
Definitely getting it

Great . But is there a knob to open for example a kontakt instance and show it on the screen ? Thanks.
Thanks. I've been interested in this device since first hearing about it.
Mine came in. Just got it up and running. Getting ready for a recording marathon so looking forward to putting it through its paces.
Yeah, tempo button… er, why?
I’m looking forward to updating to the CS-12 soon as it’s ready for Reason 12. 👌🏾💯
It would be an awesome tool for Reason!
@@LogicProLife Definitely. Just a little impatient since we’re third of more further down on the itinerary for implementation.

I’ve thought about that too! It would’ve made more sense to me to have it on the right side.

would have loved a dedicated jog wheel. Maybe they are going to release a fader controller to go along side it.
Shift+Tempo wheel lets you set it as a jog playhead Jog wheel
It’s nice to have a clean table. I’m still happy with a big screen and a mouse! Maybe the future will offer something really usefull.
What's better for Logic, this or the faderport 8???

I would get it again if given the choice just for the FX control. I love controlling EQ and other plug-ins with knobs instead of the mouse.

DAW devices for music productions... since 1996. where you have been
Is there a way to move between mix window and edit window ?, I mean full window
Hello, thx for your vidéo. I can't solo tracks via cs12 but only via Logic... Any ideas ? ❤
Re: Tempo Encoder: This can be assigned to one of 7 functions.
Tempo
Cycle/Loop
Playhead
Vertical Zoom
Scrub
Clip Gain.
Nudge
Quick question. With regards to your first tip, if we click on SELECT we can use any plugin parameter, even for 3rd party plugins?
Yes
What about using the SELECT to control an instrument's modulation, expression, or breath CCs?@@LogicProLife
@davidstal you can use it for anything you can see in the automation view in the main window…. So I think that includes CCs etc.
Will this device work with other DAWs in the future, such as LUNA, or each DAW will have its own dedicated hardware device?

Thank you for the info. I will look it up! @@jemsophia
The key is , is it quicker with the mouse, if it isn’t then what’s the point ? You’ll end up using the mouse.
For some tasks it is quicker, for some it is just more fun, and for some multi-tasking it does what a mouse simply can’t do.

I haven’t had that happen to any projects.
you mat have bumped the tempo knob> I had to disable it and reassigned manually

Oh interesting… I uploaded from my iPad and must’ve missed that as a selection there. Going to change it now.
