Yay! Gottschalk was brilliant, so is this pianist. Would love to see a recording get posted on here of his "Concert Variations on the Portuguese Hymn to King Louis." Barely anyone can tackle that one, but maybe she would?
It is a fantastic piece - lyrically, technically, as Nadia's performance amply demonstrates. This has probably only been looked at by 7800 people, since I know I've listened to it 200 times easily!
Heard this piece done by the Utah Symphony Orch. 25 years ago on Mississippi Public Radio for the first time. Until then I had never heard of L. M. Gottschalk. Ms. Weintraub's performance is superb and brings me back to the first time I ever heard it. She plays it as good as it gets.
I agree with the other commenters. I heard this on All Classical radio for the first time today and I had to hear it again. This recording and wonderful pianist are very under appreciated. A video of me practicing a bach minuet got me 4,000+ views and this great and lyrical performance has only 8,000. Thanks! Outstanding video!
@Jaybear906 - maybe it's because Gottschalk's work simply isn't sufficiently well known. Meanwhile (in regard to the viewing figures), I think that we can consider ourselves to be members of a privileged few who have had the pleasure of appreciating and enjoying this luscious piece - which, with " Fantasie Triunfal " (what a fantastic rendition of what must be one of the world's most inspiring national anthems), will always have its place in my personal pantheon.
this is one of my favorite pieces of music

Perfection!
One of the best performances I have heard of this maserpiece. Who is the conductor and orchestra?
Wow...excellence.
Quite possibly the greatest piece of music written by an American composer, and flawlessly performed. Thank you!
