- Croom was an old town that existed in the late 1800's into the early 1900's in Hernando County. Turpentine and logging were big industries in the area. A railroad line once went through the town and connected many other small towns in the area. The area was once known as Pemberton Ferry, the site was located near the Withlacoochee River. Today the area is part of the Croom Tract at Withlacoochee State Forest. When visiting please be respectful and leave all history as you find it, much of what was here is now gone but some remnants can still be seen. It is prohibited and illegal to remove artifacts from this forest. Watch Part One here: • Croom Ghost Town in Wi...

You scored a lot of old town remains. Well done!
Thats awesome history info. Those RR lines ran thru my property in Mayo Fl too. I had an old loading dock station there. Lots of pine trees used for turpentine mining.
Wow, I've never seen Tucker Hill Cemetery with that much overgrown grass before. Well it is summer and everything grows so fast. It's probably been just a few weeks since it was last trimmed. Enjoyed the video! :)
Thank you, I visit here from time to time it is usually more maintained. There used to be a sign posted there with some history but it is gone...
Another great video. Thanks for posting!
thank you!
Hello, thank you for sharing. What cemetery was that and the tall African American man did he have a name? Thanks
we live on trail 3 /soult road and were wondering if you knew the coordinates of this and if you've been to what some call the spirit tree? if so do you know its location?
I never knew this rich history existed. How do you get there, say from Spring Hill?
You can find the area by the Croom WMA, look at old maps find the railroad line that crossed the withlacoochee river, you can hike the florida trail down by there and see some of the remains.
Why is all the garbage left there for a century.
