    Sir Steve Gosling, I don't know how to say about your illustration...To me, Every single word you said is truly brings out the moment of truth... and you speak absolutely in true innocence inspite of your long travelled journey of life in photography....

    Very impressed with the Lee Seven5 system. Steve does a nice job of explaining it.
    Cheers

    Congratulations, Steve Gosling. You showed us how "easy" is the art of photography.

    I love this tutorial. What a great system. Although I prefer the picture in between, with the soft grad and without the little stopper. I feel a two min exposure gives the foliage too much time to blur when wind is present. Still very informative!

    Greetings from Australia. Enjoyed very much your previous video regarding “personal interpretation as opposed to recording” as well as this Lee7 vid. I worked professionally from the early 70’s onwards and during that time shot 35mm and 120mm chrome so would use polarises and graduation filters on a regular basis. But since digital technology and in particular Photoshop I don’t find any need to use filters anymore, especially graduated filters which I often use to darken down a sky to taste. I also find ‘dehaze’ very helpful. My question, do you have a reason or philosophy as to why you still use, basically an analogue system, in a digital world? Best wishes and keep up the good work and thoughtful and empathetic commentary.

    Steve your B&W photos have so much emotion, you're a soul photographer...One tip I have for any neophyte B&W photogs is to shoot raw+jpg and in camera B&W mode. You capture a (colour) raw plus can see in the EVF, screen and in-camera jpg what the B&W photo/conversion will roughly look like...

    Does the seven5 micro ring work with the seven5 adaptor , sorry if that sounds confusing but I'm looking for a 67mm ring to use with my seven5 filters but can only see a micro 67mm ring

    Really interesting video from Steve. I want the 25mm lens so it was interesting that he is using it later on. Is he using a 45mm for the waterfall? Wow, the little stopper is about 6 stops and the big stopper is a 10 stop ND filter? I like the 0.6 gradual ND filter because you can't tell it has been used except that the picture is just right.

    Very impressive video ! lots of details and info , thank you and btw , I LIKE YOUR POINT, someone could do all these process in post editing software but its not photography.

    I liked your video, I watched some filter videos today but not one of it had a list of the filters names or links in the description. That would be really helpful since there are so many companies and such selling the same things. I don't know, just an idea.

    Hello sir! I really enjoyed your video. I was just wondering if Lee Seven5 would just fine without any vignetting or whatnot on Sony Vario-Tessar T* FE 16-35mm F/4 lens? I learned from your website that this filter system would work with mirroless lens with up to 72 mm filter thread. But would it cause any problem in this wide angle case? Thanks.

    Can I use the Seven5 system on UWA lenses (Laowa 7.5mm)?

    i notice he's shooting at f16.. I'm sort of new to M4/3 but isn't that supposed to be a bit to small of aperture, which would cause diffraction in the photographs? i mean, please correct me if I'm wrong.. it was just something i heard.

    • @MiikeeL93
      @MiikeeL93 8 років тому

      +Robert Stofa I believe he is shooting that F16 mainly to get a longer shutter time to smooth out the water

    • @thehmangill5714
      @thehmangill5714 6 років тому +1

      @@c0ldc0ne I think he means with regard to diffraction softening the image, sweet-spot for mFT is F5.6-8. After F11 most reviewers say diffraction will be visible... All I can think is he wants to slow things down and Steve is prioritizing a slower shutter speed...

    May I know that the Polarise filter can work with the 15mm lens ?
    Thanks

      Yeah they are not going for mass-market, I use a Cokin holder with Hitech 85 filters and a Cokin circ polarising filter...

    Hi Steve,
    I wanted to ask you a question regarding my E-M5 MKII & Lee 100mm system.
    I shoot with the 12-40mm f/2.8 but I already own the 100mm system for my D750, I use soft grads and the big or little stopper.
    What I wanted to ask is if I use my soft grads on my 12-40mm lens will the transition be to wide and would I have to use hard grads to get the same effect as a soft on my d750?
    As I already own the 100mm system I really want to utilise that with my Olympus system and not have to purchase the 75mm system
    Thanks,
    Billy

      @aaronevans3754 6 років тому

      Billy Matthews you can use your 100mm system with the Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 as it has a 67mm front thread, you would have roughly the same effect with Grads, as the crop doesn’t change much

    question: why does he use a filter to recover all those colors, only to loose it all again in the black and white conversion???- not quite the best advertising for the 7/5 system!!

    • @virtualgadjo1957
      @virtualgadjo1957 8 років тому +2

      the best your color version is the easier your b&w conversion will be in terms of contrast, details, structure and so on... just my 2 cents :)

      also, that's not a bw sensor anyway...

    • @chrispurnell9272
      @chrispurnell9272 6 років тому

      It's a polarising filter. It cuts out glare and increases saturation, also bringing out detail in the highlights. The image having a mono conversion is irrelevant.

      +Alex Zubkov Just because you don't get the fine purpose of using filters and creating the effect BEFORE capturing it on sensor, it doesn't mean it is waste of time (all said with no bad intentions)

      Most of the brights and darks can be adjusted in lightroom and photoshop, but the little stopper he added allowed him to extend his shutter speed from 2 seconds to 2 minutes. The effect that had on the water cannot be replicated in post processing.

      And even then, if you clip your highlights in the original picture, theres only so much you can do. With the ND grad you basically extend your dynamic range, making for much better result.
