I fixed the vacuum leak so now it is working properly. Please see the updated video here: Located here: ua-cam.com/video/wSszLh4x7PQ/v-deo.html
With a gasoline engine, really no need to split 1st an 2nd..
you need shift the 2 speed back to low before you upshift. That way you hit low and the next gear up at the same time.
Negative. I pressed clutch, shifted into next gear, and then switched to low before releasing clutch. If you try to change high to low before changing gears you'll hear an awful racket.
That is incorrect. On any split shift you always upshift whichever unit first, then downshift the other.
Trying to agree with you, and correct what Chris said. That being said, that old Muncie 465 four speed will shift smoother with steady pressure on the stick instead of bouncing it. Every time you let up the pressure the synchros slow.
@Chris Eason I take it you have never driven a two speed axle? Cause if you have you would know that shifting back to low before upshifting will result in an unpleasant grinding sound coming from the rear end. You always make the upshift first, then the downshift.
so its a 8 gear then?
Basic H-Pattern shifting. See my updated video.ua-cam.com/video/wSszLh4x7PQ/v-deo.html
Also remember when Down-Shifting, just change gears without the differential. Watch speed and RPM's when doing so.
Switch to an automatic you grinned when you put it in 1st gear

Shouldn’t need to use the clutch to shift the 2 speed rear, at least on the up shift. Just pull up the knob and let off the gas and it’ll shift.
Once I found and fixed the vacuum leak I no longer needed to shift that way. I do have an updated video of this showing how to shift after it had been fixed.
