In MAD MAX1 he played the villain fantastically to such an extent that no hardened criminal in real life looked like him in the movie !!!! Hugh Keays-Byrne Best Actor, Biker !!!!! I will have a memory through the film of this legend for the rest of my life !!

The Forth and Clyde hotel closed in 1972 but obviously was brought to life for the movie. But there was stevedoring still going on at Mort Bay in January 1974 just as shown in the background of the daytime scene that this pub featured in.
Byrne is an Irish name and they mostly seem to hail from Carlow south west Ireland . So I would imagine a couple of generations back that's where his grandfather or great grandfather came from .
