NOTE: I only posted this video as a side issue to doing the project build. It's just a fun thing and really only identifiable by people who have seen one of these before. I was curious to see how many viewers are aware of this brain twister/optical illusion. One BIG clue is that the 1 mm holes are for fishing line. Cheers Rob
I was going to guess a Christmas decoration. When I work in the retail business I used nylon fishing line to suspend shop display items. Guess I'll be kicking myself when I find the answer! Cheers Nobby
A few years ago before I started making UA-cam videos I would do something similar with my friends. I would take a photo of the raw stock (steel, bolts and nuts etc.) and ask them "can you guess what it is yet?". It is quite hard and I don't think anyone guessed any of my projects. At least you have machined some items which would make it a bit easier. But, I will need to have a bit of a think and get back to you with my answer.
It was a new experience for me as well Andrew. The physical forces being applied are quite interesting. I have the means to make one, it can be various shapes and materials, so I am having a go at it. I don't think it is fundamentally difficult, but I've been wrong before :) My version will be fully adjustable, so hopefully I can correct any issues. Cheers Rob
Three BIG clues here - It's not an engine. It's nothing to do with fishing, BUT it will incorporate some fishing line in the build (that's what the 1 mm holes are for). Cheers Rob

No idea Rob but the aluminium disc with the recess would make a great beer can coaster 🤣🤣 Cheers, Alan.
Ha Ha. Good idea Alan. Cheers Rob
A DINGO WINDER COULD BE NOTHING ELSE REALLY, THE HOLES ARE A DEAD GIVE AWAY .
IT LOOKS TO BE THE ONE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SET.
No, that's completely different ;)

Wibblywobblyidiotvision channel has cracked it. It's my attempt at a tensegrity table. No prize, but good deduction. Cheers Rob
Hmmm good tester. Kinda looks like a fishing spool winder other than that no idea. Good job👍
Fishing line is involved as part of the build, but it's nothing to do with fishing.

You have me completely stumped 🤔🥴
Read the video description :)
@@Xynudu Thank you Rob. I had to Google what it was and that sent me down a rabbit hole of learning. My brain now hurts 🥴😂

Hi Rob , that machined really well. Ya have us all scratching our heads. It’s not a strimmer ?
Hi Colum. No. It's very unusual, and different to anything I've made before. Cheers Rob
@@Xynudu 👍I am enjoying all the guesses

@@Xynudu I had to look that up😂👍
Me too. I'd never seen one before Colum. Very interesting engineering concept. I hope it balances OK ;) Cheers Rob
The indexing of the holes seems deliberate.
Everything is deliberate.
@@Xynudu I have no doubt of that; perhaps informative would be a better adjective.
I wasn't trying to be a smart arse. I'm just saying that everything is there for a specific reason. Cheers Rob
It's a snow cone maker.🍦

A wigwam for a goose's bridle ?
No idea Rob. Could be part of a fishing reel?
Nope. Nothing to do with fishing. Cheers Rob
This is a head scratcher.
Steam or hot air engine?

No idea, but I'll see in the video..
All will be revealed. Even if it fails.
Hi Rob, a hook tying rig???
