I'm glad that Harold Ramis got some props for his performance. His deadpan delivery was awesome.

Saw this as an 19 year old at the movies and loved it, still do, was very familiar with Bill Murray from his SNL days and Caddyshack the year before...you just knew his star power was gonna go higher and higher...

Very funny movie. This and “Ghostbusters” are Bill Murray at his funniest. I could also say his Carl Spackler character from “Caddyshack” is also very funny.

People used to wonder why they had two critics who clashed so often hosting that show. Well i cant remember any movie that Roger and Gene BOTH liked that I didn't like too. if they both liked a movie you could be sure it was great

John Candy was good as usual but not the rest. I hated Bill Murrays character, he joins the army voluntarily then goes against everything they say for no reason.

    • @Mario_N64

He was playing his usual "wiseass" character. That act got old after Ghostbusters. He never made a hit comedy again.

    • @spencerhensley5495

I don’t think he was purposely going against the Army. Aside from Warren Oates as the drill sergeant the other commanding officers particularly John Larroquette’s character were portrayed as idiotic and unfit to lead and the idea as Siskel said was Murray was smarter than most of them and basically laughed at a lot of their incompetence except for Oates’ character who stood his ground and was a smart and competent leader. Plus not to mention the scene with he and Oates in the latrine was supposed to prove that while Murray was an arrogant wiseacre he couldn’t escape Oates strength or authority and learned a hard lesson. I can see your point don’t get me wrong and I do think the last act of the film is a little weak but I still love this and it is one of my favorites from Murray. Plus it was one of Oates’ last roles and it’s success opened the door for these guys to make Ghostbusters.
