Gant is such an amazing villain. In defeat, he wished all the best for Phoenix and Edgeworth, and those two would wind up, with some help, fixing a dark age of the law.
Nuh-uh, he's taunting them. His comment to Edgeworth saying "you'll figure out what's needed" is implying the cutthroat, evidence-forging moves that made Gant unflinchingly evil. That comment is why Edgeworth penned his resignation shortly after.
Is no one gonna say anything about how this is the only time in the series where the cross-examination is literally interrupted, right as it begins no less? Not even the sequels had anything like it. That's how you know the game is dead serious. (24:16)
@@s_solus3089 no but it still wasn't as shocking as someone who went out of their way to literally interrupt a cross examination before it even starts, FOR US.
I love the way Lana does her testimony when she's pressed, linking her previous dialog with the next statement. it makes her seem really cool headed and methodical, like nothing can touch her.
For me this was likely the hardest and most tense trial of the original triology. Partly due to Damon Gant being such a powerful and intimidating figure similar to von Karma but mostly since Phoenix needed Edgeworths help during the entire last part. The team-up between those two and the constant attacks from two sides, yet Gant almost eluded them made this so much more impactful.
26:47 Totally fell for Gant trap at my playthrough. I knew that something bad would happen if i were to show the evidence, but i thought Phoenix would twist the situation, he didn't.
I thought it wouldn't matter if I concealed the cloth. Maybe there would be some joke or I would get a penalty for it. So I thought the right thing to do was to show the cloth, but I decided to make a save and hide the cloth just to see what happened. I'm so glad I did that now because literally just me wanting to mess around got me to win the case.
Gant's breakdown is one of my faves. It actually feels like a huge wave of achievement, maybe just because the episode is long, but he was a shitty person so there's that.
My bad. I was supposed to mention the Apollo Justice game, where Phoenix exposes Kristoph's crimes considering certain events (which I won't spoil for those who haven't played) happened in said game.
26:47 I showed the evidence on my playthrough and I felt a rush of regret all through my body when i got the game over. I thought phoenix or edgeworth would have a trick up their sleeve. plus I didnt save so I had to do the whole case all over
Anyone noticed that after Phoenix proofed that Gant stabbed Marshall and not Ema,his animation looks like Redd White when he was cornered?Especially the hair?
Of course, there are no coincidences in these games. Redd White and Damon Gant are very much connected, so this was probably meant as a throwback to that case.
Phoenix in this case actually has a pretty well-thought out plan and a maturer feel to him just like the Phoenix at the end of Trials and tribulations. The Dual Destinies Phoenix's attitude is slightly less mature. I really wish they had kept less comical Phoenix for Dual Destinies.
Nimitt Phommavongsa It's not that it's a bad game or that it portrayed Phoenix badly but it's just that I like this iteration more. I mean, come on. This Phoenix has a plan and wrapped up everything with his own strategy. That makes him less of a rookie and more of a professional lawyer. He relies less on bluffs now and more on actual understanding and game plan just like how he was at the end of Trials of Tribulations.
What? You know the situation he was in. How tf could he have had everything planned out in that situation? Especially with the "bad guy" countering EVERYTHING?
It's just certain nuances I noticed in DD Phoenix and end of T&T Phoenix along with Rise from The Ashes Phoenix along with the Phoenix in the last case of Apollo Justice when you're using the MASON System. I'd rather Phoenix had less comical "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT"s and more "OK, so that's true. Now let's take this into account and see what we get"'s. The last case of DD was shocking but you just get a certain feel that Phoenix in the courtroom in DD is slightly less mature than the previous Phoenixs.
NippleToaster I don't know, they kind of kept his old personality from Apollo Justice as mature, but they also kept his personality in the courtroom. But in the extra case it seemed that he was sure of what happened. Remember? I get what you're saying though, there were more comical moments, but probably because of the lack thereof in Apollo Justice from Phoenix. Fans did miss him.

Honestly, the first time I saw who the bad guy of the case was, I felt really sad. Damon felt like a funny, quirky little character to me and was sort of a relief from all the crazy shit that was going on. That said, I’m glad he got the shit verbally kicked out of him.
The more I watch and play this case the more I realize that Gant doesnt feel like he started out evil. It feels like he made one bad choice and it spiraled.
"It's been a long battle...but the moment of truth has finally arrived!" If that didn't send chills through your spine while playing, i dunno what would ^^
Gant more or less foreshadowed Investigations in the same way Lana Skye foreshadowed Nick's inevitable downfall. Edgeworth has to figure out what is needed to take down criminals. Turns out, all the man really needs is a bumbling detective and a spunky ninja. Meanwhile, the PD lost Gant, but they already have a replacement on board. I still have this unsolved question going around in my head about this very AA case: why the hell would Gant need to controll Lana? I mean, when he created the whole Neil Marshall murder thing he still didn't commit any crime before, so why would he have the need to create a whole situation JUST to manipulate his coworker, if it wasn't to help him with crimes or other dark things??? Why was having the opportunity to manipulate Lana the very first thing that came to that man's mind when he saw Ema, Neil and Darke lying on the ground, all three of them still alive? I personally never found any conversation about this matter on the Internet, but I honestly have the worst scenarios in mind...and for the love of god I hope my theories are wrong...
It is implied by the other members of the police and Lana, that this was not the first time Gant did “what was necessary” to get criminals convicted. @@yeyofamoelguerosalvaje6861 but I personally think that, if Gant only wanted at all costs to have Darke convicted, it wasn't even necessary for him to control Lana and so to create all that fake scenario with Ema, because, if he didn't want to manipulate Lana for other things, he would have simply killed Marshall and put the blame on Darke, directly forging evidences against him. At that point, Gant never admitted to having any connection to the cloth. He has you present it without ever saying himself what it is. So once you present the cloth, since Gant never actually specified what evidence you were hiding nor mentioned the cloth, he can deny having any knowledge of it. You then are unable to prove Gant had anything to do with the cloth and can no longer pin the crime on him. It's then revealed Ema's prints are on the cloth and that basically seals your fate since you can no longer blame Gant.
