- So Sonic X Shadow Generations is close approaching, and SEGA isn't afraid to let us know it. With a Sonic Central and already 4 trailers promoting this game, they managed to sneak a final trailer into the PlayStation State of Play, revealing Movie Shaodow as a playable character in the game, voiced by Keanu Reeves! Like I said on Twitter, this is the type of stuff I was expecting back with Movie 1 lol. Actual direct tie-in synergy between the games and the movies.
It feels like the games and movies were afraid to even reference each other all too much... but now we got freaking Keanu voicing Shadow in an official Sonic game. That is genuinely insane.
Also find it funny how the level is just straight up Tokyo lol. Makes me think what they would've done for Movie 1 & 2 for levels 😭
Makes sense that they didn't prepare a tie-in for Movie 1... they didn't know the impact the movies were about to have on the franchise lol. Now Movie 3's about to do half a billi in the box office and they've got an actual 3D game they can sell alongside it!

This might be the year. This might be the best year for Sonic content, because of Shadow.
It took nearly a decade since the Sonic Boom fiasco for SEGA to finally give the Sonic series enough budget that the developers can now afford Hollywood actors for game projects. In 2021, the best SEGA could do for a remaster was make a decade old Wii game look even more dated and run even worse than the original game; now we're getting a whole game with what must be millions poured into marketing, animating a promotional miniseries, and getting Keanu for a DLC, alongside what looks to be a 99% accurate remaster of one of the best games in the series. If SEGA doesn't make any last-minute major screw ups, this could be one of the new best games in the series paired with another one of the best games in the series. That is an achievement Sonic Team could have only dreamed of from 2015 to 2021.

Man this game might surpass Unleashed as the 2nd best Sonic game if not become the best Sonic game. If they keep this up with having more DLCs I can see it happening. It definitely beating Frontiers I can tell you that much.
I initially thought the Shadow side was going to be a very short extra to justify the port of Generations but I'm so happy to be wrong, this is a whole ass new game attached, I wish the movie pack wasn't DLC, but eh, modern gaming... I'm just glad it's gonna be packed with new content.

Unleashed is an S tier game for me so it's going to be tough to beat that, especially since I'm a sucker for tough platforming. But presentation-wise, this game may just beat Unleashed.
Outside of Mario Galaxy imo Sonic Unleashed is the best platformer of all time (unfortunately no one wants to admit that).

Fax, people were even getting antsy when Premy was correct back then when SEGA was ghosting on news. I may not agree with all of Prem's game opinions(though I have Heroes as the best Sonic game like him) but he kept it real with the state of Sonic most of the time.

Sorry to be a downer prem but there is 1 potential RED FLAG on Shadow Generations that most of us are ignoring.. Act 2's lol the 2D lvls in cyberspace were the worst levels. So I'm hoping Shadow Generations 2D levels will be better
I can "tolerate" 1 mid 2D act per 1 great 3D act, but if it's a 6 acts Colors situation then we got a real problem

Hopefully there's a way to play as Movie Shadow in the regular Shadow Generations levels, otherwise we rely on mods
