Let's take a look at the world of Ever After High! Where the children of all the classic fairy tale characters attend high school together.
Ever After High is owned by Mattel! Make sure to show them some love!
The character designs have no reason being THIS good especially when their so convoluted and decorative but they pull it off. Lizzie has her hair styled with a heart shaped Bump with a crown like head piece holding it all together. Why? Because she can! Raven has ornate silver gorget adorning her shoulders. Why? Because of course she would! The characters outfits and overall looks are so unapologeticly themselves while simultaneously being very cohesive.

Briars very one sided party girl at first but she really flourished once she told off apple later on in the show
Nah Fr, she has so much more character development later on the show and I understand that she called her blade based on the first season, but she’s literally one of my favs, plus her outfit is literally the best design 😭💞
Yes! People say she’s just some party girl but it really seemed more like she is that way because she is afraid of her future. Rather than “I wanna party before I sleep because sleeping is boring!” It was more like she wanted to be able to live her own life before she didn’t have much of a choice.

Briar Beauty definitely starts out as a shallow character as just a party girl but as you go, you start to get a bit more depth with her when you look at the scene in thronecoming where she tells apple off about their destinies.
The conversation reveals that sure, she wants to live all she can before she sleeps, but also that she has had the looming fact that she will basically be dead for years when she has her story. Her showing dangerous and risky behaviors shows her desperation for a feeling of living and her fear of what’s to come. This shows she has thought about this for a long time, way before legacy day, and that she accepted it, showing a certain level of maturity. I might be wrong, but she is not as shallow of a character as you make her out to be. Her fear and anxiety of what society tells her she has to do changes her entire behavior and how she perceives her life.

I normally don't like overly detailed and overly charged designs, but this whole series is an exception. They handle them SO WELL. It fits the universe and aesthetic of the series, they don't look cringe nor disastrous(Which commonly happens for over-detailed and over-charged designs.) and they're absolutely GORGEUS.

I would normally not like when characters wear those tyles of clothing everyday but every after high is an exception.
@@fakename3440 I mean, in the context of their world, the dresses are supposed to look like royalty so it's not only really aesthetically pleasing, but it also has an in-universe reason.

I see this all the time but can't help but think how absolutely stupid it is. How many CSI', NCIS, and Criminal Minds all exist at once without any problem? Two different ideas for "fairytale children " can in fact exist at once.
@@nahte123456 The thing is it's kinda easy to see the connection of Descendants starting and EAH getting canned. Disney and Mattel had a falling out, they have similar concepts, and EAH stopped right around the time Descendants started.

@@nahte123456 To go into detail, from my knowledge, Disney made Descendants, copied the whole children of heroes and villains in highschool thing, but, most importantly, sold cheaper, worst quality dolls than ever after high, tanking their toy sales, the reason the series was made.
@@Gunn3rGuru sure I'll believe that but Ever After High still had ways to make money and I think it was pretty obvious, even from someone like me that kind of likes Descendants, that it had less staying power. It was Matel that decided to just not bother.
This show is really nostalgic for me since a Raven doll was the last thing that my grandma got me before she passed. Thank you for helping me remember the show again :)

Despite that,I love Daring.He was super funny and I love his character development and STYLE
I just realised that if Apple gets her destiny, everybody else will be devastated. Ashlynn will lose her true love, hunter. Raven will be ruined. All the other stories will be forced to go in their original path since the main story did. And Apple will lose all her "friends", if she even considers them as such. Even if they aren't dead they will resent her. I personally dislike both her mother and the headmaster as they forced her to be a whiny brat. And snow white gets everything she needs.
This is the exact reason why I hated Apple White for the longest time

Briar's development gets really good in the later seasons (the Way To Wonderland special)! I love your review! I love Monster High more, but Ever After High is really good and I really enjoyed the puns in both series. Also, I've heard that Monster High will be getting new content, soon (as in different from the reboot)!

I hated Briar at first but after Thronecoming she became one of my favorite characters because of her character arc
In the book version of Legacy Day, Raven actually RIPS her page out of the storybook of legends, which I found to be even more impactful. The books were really good, honestly. They went more in-depth about Cerise Hood’s home life as well, showing how she had to pretty much hide all the time in her old village while keeping her wolf side a secret.
So I just did some digging and apparently apple white is a bisexual with a girl named darling Charming, here's some text from the wiki
"In "Dragon Games", Apple White is poisoned by the Evil Queen and falls into a cursed sleep, only to be awoken by true love's kiss. After Daring's attempt to kiss her fails, he realizes he is not Apple's Prince Charming. Apple starts choking in her sleep, so Darling attempts CPR and her kiss breaks the curse, confirming that Darling is Apple's destined true love."
I'll get to that special eventually and review it! However I think it would be more appropriate to say Apple is bisexual, instead of a lesbian. Because she does seem to still be interested in boys too.

Darling actually took over the title the knight in shine armor from Daring. It is later revealed that Daring is now the Beast in Beauty and the Beast story.
Actually even though Darling broke the curse Matel confirmed they have no feelings for each other

I liked the doll designs for MH but in terms of story it's hands down Ever After High if you can find them I recommend the books. That's actually where the lyrics for the theme song come from and they are Way better than the MH novels

One thing I only noticed recently that proves Maddie is the best friend ever is on legacy day when Raven is about to sign she looks excited but then when she doesn’t sign she cheers. This really shows how Maddie would fully support Raven no matter what and I love her for it. Best. 👏 girl.👏
Ok so are we gonna ignore how when raven was looking into the book seeing what her future would have turned out apple was commanding the guard to throw her into prison? And then like one page later she was chained up from head to toes looking all terrefied? Back when I saw it as a kid that scene gave me chills because apple looked so cold while doing it, I mean in the show she seems persistent about following her destiny but at the end of the show she seems more open minded about the whole thing,but the book literally showed us at what lenghts she was willing to go in order to achieve it, even after knowing raven for so long and knowing that she signed the book against her own beliefs in order for her to have her happy ending, and if im not wrong ever after high follows the tales of the grimm brother's and in the snow white tale the evil queen dies, so that scene where raven is looking all terrefied and covered in chains is way blood chilling now, but apple wouldn't be capable of that.....would she?. But then again this theory kinda gets debunked because later in the series is established that the book they had was fake and the original one was in wonderland so probably the things that they showed both apple and Raven were illusions.
I am SO GLAD I wasn’t the only one super scared of that scene as a kid! it just freaked me out to see raven being treated so horribly

You should watch the rest of EAH, the development of the story is awesome unfortunately it was canceled abruptly so it just kinda,,, stops

Yah, what the heck, 'destroy the book' WHAT!? That gives neither of the sides what they want. How is Apple gonna live her destiny with no evil queen!!! This even comes up in dragon games! But they just defeat the evil queen, and go about there normal day like nothing happened.

@@hiitscupid3504 I know, its just Apple's happily ever after kind of relies on Raven poisoning her, she even says it her self in Apple's Tale, I think. Then in Dragon games Apple is right back to pushing Raven to be evil, I'll be it, while being manipulated by her own mother and the Evil Queen. I sort of understand the concept of destroying the book, but they really failed at giving an explanation at what Apple would do and then drew attention to that in Dragon Games. I should have worded my old comment better. 😅

I do loved Ever After High Series but I am disappointed that ever after high series was cancelled because there's so much things that need to be resolved before the series will finally end like revealing Cerise Hood's family secret, Who's Apple's destiny Prince, how Darling became the white knight, the Ever After High graduation day and show what they doing in the future now, but unfortunately this is not going to happen so the writers decided to end with the cliff hanger.
I think Cerise’s family secret was that her mother and father were Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf

I loved the franchise and the messages it spread to its (original targeted) younger audiences. I think the feature length films are nearly all amazing and I can't wait to see more of your reviews!
I highly recommend watching the Thronecoming episode. Thronecoming gives more insight on Briar's perspective and there is a lot of Cedar. Ever After High is on Netflix and is broken into longer episodes on there.
I also would like to mention that this show is gorgeous (in my opinion). I absolutely love all of the backgrounds, it’s just so aesthetically pleasing. Dragon Games is probably my favorite season story and aesthetic wise.

1:00 I agree! It's not at all a female show. I was a 10 year old boy when it started and as an 18 year old guy today I can proudly say it's still one of my favourite shows and I was never afraid of admitting it on the playground.
Fun fact: The girl on the Ever After High logo is actually the daughter of the two narrators.

My favorite part of Ever After is that you can identify with either side and understand them both allowing you to choose for yourself who you agree with.

Hunter Huntsman plays the part of both the huntsman in Red Riding Hood and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The same thing with Ramona Badwolf; she's the Big Bad Wolf for both Riding Hood and Three little Pigs
I love the contrast between Ramona & her younger sister Cerise Hood too, Cerise tries her hardest to hide her wolf side so she can fit in with the rest of the Royals while Ramona openly embraces her wolf side & makes it just a bit harder for Cerise to keep her secret once her schoolmates find out they're sisters.
@@maxinezook3835 I love Cerise and Ramona. Their dynamic is so interesting. Cerise is constantly having to hide herself even though she's very proud of her heritage. She's always wishing things could be different and trying to rebel against destiny while Ramona doesn't seem to care either way even though she's the one who's reputation is tarnished from birth because of her destiny. She's only annoyed at Cerise for hiding even knowing she doesn't want to.

Also later on in the seasons and movies most of the characters get alot of development and the outfits are beautiful i love how each of the girls dresses have their own unique flair to the character if only i had one of the dresses in real life.

This is so embarrassing to say but I loved this show. It was actually good but sadly never reached it's full potential because executive meddling squandered the story.
Also, Dexter and Daring are 100% no cap the funniest character in the show. They also served as excellent foils to each other and had pretty cool foil relationships with Raven and Apple. Dexter is awkward but kind and he's into Raven, as social outcast. Compare that to Daring who's confident and popular but super vain. Him and Apple are like a power couple and it's a really cool mirror to Raven and Dexter's relationship.
As a dude myself, I really enjoyed seeing these funny and interesting male characters on a show that had way more females because it's meant to sell dolls to little girls -which really make me question why I like it.- The show sort of shafted the male characters because they didn't fit the target demographic but I would have loved to see these two get more screentime. They were really good character and deserved it, gender demographics be danged!

I agree! I feel like both Ever after High and Monster High could've used their male cast in a lot more entertaining ways. Also I always wanted a hopper doll but they never made one. Which was a bummer. They never made the boys into dolls and I never understood why?

It's so rare to see someone in eah fandom who likes Dexter hahahaha. I feel like every person I encounter from the fandom (reddit,twitter) doesn't like him and his ship with raven. Also ik this is a late reply but in epic winter daring did have a lot of screentime and him not being apple's prince and actually being Rosabella's beast is one of the best things the show ever did imo
Critter if u ever revisit Ever After High U HHAAAAVE to talk about the character designs!! It’s like the perfect balance between being pretty and extravagant to sell dolls, and being a great look into the character and their fairy tale
I never knew I needed this review! Also fun fact, it appears students at Ever After High can play multiple roles if their story fits the part. Hunter Huntsman is one, with his character fitting both the one from Red Riding Hood & Snow White, and another future character, which actually serves as a plot point in the later part of the story.
I’m an idiot. I’ve seen the episode with kitty threading to expose cerise, multiple times, and I’ve never realized that it was because it was cat and a dog. I always thought it was because kitty likes to make trouble to make her mom proud.
it makes me so happy to see that even after so long there are still people who appreciate this series :) the ever after high fandom is so small ... i think if people paid a little more attention to EAH there would be a small chance let this series come back (btw I loved your review ^^♡︎)
So the thing with Ashlynn Ella’s shoe obsession in the first episode is supposed to be a tie in to her story as the daughter of Cinderella since it’s all about the glass shoe but it doesn’t show up every time she’s on screen which is good.
I remember really loving this web series when I was young. I still have all the novels. I remember them being really really good, and honestly kinda scary. Like, why did they put some of that stuff in a book for children? This video made me want to reread them.
It’s a real shame they stopped continuing this series.

I feel I have to say that, while Briar might want to take advantage of her youth, she’s gonna wake up the same age.
What she truly wants is to make the most of the time she has left with her friends, because most of them won’t be around when she wakes up a hundred years later.
maddie was such a good character tbh like you can tell by the just the way she is that she wants or at least is will to become the next mad hatter but was completely supporting raven when she didn't want to follow her mom's path.
i loved this show so much bc it represents the lgbt experience in a way, you can cast aside the path that was planned for u and live as your true self but it has that risk that you could lose the people who you love and have grown up with, wish that they would include lgbt characters but i understand that would be a huge risk as a kids show

If you love ever after high and want more out of the characters, I would highly recommend reading the books. They’re all really well written and give more lore and depth to the characters and world. I won’t spoil anything, but believe me, the books are really enjoyable.
I have the one about the story where Ever After became Wonderland.

i'm revisiting this video and i just want to point out how nice the editing is. just the way the clips shown flow so well, match the voiceover (sometimes practically lip synced), and sprinkle in direct voiced quotes from the characters at the right times, sort of like a journalism piece. it's really awesome!

So, about these three goats- they're actually not supposed to be based on the 3 little pigs; but instead, a lesser-known folktale called "The Three Billygoats Gruff." It's a story about three goats and a mean and hungry troll who lives under a bridge and wants to eat them. There's a character that you can see in an episode that's a reference to that troll. I think it's in an episode about how it's summer and super hot, and you can see the troll chilling under a palm underneath the bridge to the school. It was very memorable to me.
Either way, the pigs and the goats are different characters- just similar because they both come in trios.

I think ever after high should come back. It can come back and when it should I think it has wiggle room to be more mature. Maybe some politics or some explanation of how the kingdoms of all these fairytales function together. Some world building would be great

I never did understand Daring and Apple's relationship. Like...her mom married her prince charming right? So in this....there's just a random prince that's supposed to be with Apple or....I think I confused myself
The way it's described in the show, is that the name "Charming" is a really common last name and there are a lot of "prince Charming's" in universe. Kind of like how the last name "Smith" is really common in America.
In A Semi Charming Kind of Life, Darling's little side story, it is explained that the Charming family is HUGE and they fill in the role of all unnamed princes and princesses in fairytales. They are raised to be very, very perfect and, well, charming. They are very proud of their family line, which causes Darling to hide her true desire to be the hero in a story.
The specials have to be my favourite! I’ve started rewatching the show and I’m getting so much nostalgia

I see a lot of people hate on Apple because of how she acts, despite the fact a lot of it us because of her upbringing and things she's bewn told her whole life. I think a lot of it is because a lot of things were cut out from the books, wich gave us more insight into people's backstory. Another thing i was quite upset didn't get touched on in the show is Apple and Ravens adventure that they went on. Anyway if anyone sees this comment i recommend watching the show and reading the books

time stamp: 5:05 . when u were talking about the hunstman, the way it works is that the hunstman is in multiple stories. so this means that hunter will be in little red riding hood, and snow white. however if hunter would have a sibling, then he will only be apart of one story and his sibling would be apart of the other one. just like the charming family, daring, darling, and dexter will all be put in different stories that require a prince charming. So for hypothetically speaking, if darling charming is apart of apple's story, then she will be the charming chosen for the role in snow whites tory. and if daring is apart of rosabella's story, then he will be the charming chosen for the role in beauty and the beasts.

Can I just say that Raven's legacy scene with her seeing what was going to happen was actually surprisingly dark, like looking back at it it basically looked like she was being hanged in the picture.
To be fair, Ashlynn's obsession with shoes is justified. Ashlynn's mother is Cinderella, a fairytale character known mostly for her pair of glass slippers. So it makes sense for Ashlynn to care deeply about shoes, as they are what gave her mother her happily ever after and they are basically why she exists.
The goats are from the Three Billy Goats Gruff story. The one with the bridge ogre trying to eat them but the first two younger kids say the next and older one is bigger = more food. At last, the eldest finally came and he was too strong for the ogre and was beaten up off the bridge.
I know what fairy tale they are, I'm just confused why they replaced the three little pigs with the goats at all?

Honestly Mattel should see how they can shift their target audience for EAH to young teens/teens and make A LOT of money. We all love the representation and just the show in general, so it would be perfect. Descendants is over and kids aren’t buying toys as much so they should probably consider rebooting/continuing their old shows
this show is such a gem; it’s a shame it had to be ended. out of all the shows I've watched, it has to be one of my top favorites. I do really hope Mattel picks it up again sometime in the future :'(
i love how briar was intentionally one dimensional because thasts how everybody else saw her. as a girl who love sparties. but in reality she just wants to live her best life knowing she will fall asleep and never see her friends ever again.

it's girly, pastel and there's a bigger focus on the female cast, but it's also well-written, interesting and has a really good premise
It's because a lot of boys, especially when their children, will dismiss a show or cartoon when it featured a primarily female cast. Mostly because they assume the topics of the show wont have anything to interest them. It may sound simple, but including at least a few male characters into a show's main cast can help get young boys invested in watching it. And the same can be true the other way around too! :)

Plus there are a lot shows that are "for boys" and these shows still have female fans. Ever after high can totally be a "girls' show" and still appeal to boys

I actually did enjoy this video. I caught Ever After High by chance on Nick and I thought it was cute. One day I found it on Netflix and well was it. I watched the crap out of it. I like all the of characters you like, but I also liked Brier. Granted her motavation was tacked on as all heck. Anyway. I'm coming back, if you're coming back.

I never had an Ever After High,yet I loved the show a lot. I was truly looking forward to that Ever After High x Monster High crossover... Which sadly we never got. Tho there's material of it.
After watching a video I can say for certain that what happened to this show was Disney's fault,I mean don't you find funny how the show stopped not long after Descendants came out? It's truly sad how Disney doesn't let anyone else have fairytale stuff anymore...
I love Ever After High and I’m soooo sad it ended. I don’t know if I’m being picky but I did notice some plot holes for example Apple (the daughter of Snow White) and Daring ( the son of Prince Charming) are supposed to be together and Daring’s story is to kiss Apple in order to save her which totally makes sense. But if Prince Charming kissed Snow White and they lived happily ever after doesn’t that mean that Apple’s dad should be Prince Charming and Daring and Apple should be related. Even though I know that that’s not the case in the series shouldn’t it be like that and so therefore its kind of a bit weird. Also in one of the seasons they mentioned that the Evil Queen and Snow White went to school together but isn’t the evil queen snow white’s step mother???? Again i know its not completely like the original story but likeee….Just my opinion tho still obsessed with the show though!
At first I was bitter that this took over monster high but after watching I fell in love with the lore and the interpretations of the children of fairy tale characters. So much so that I’m bummed it got cancelled because of disney’s descendants who had so much potential but was more aesthetically pleasing than in depth story arcs
