The rent prices here in England (especially London and the South) are ridiculously high. We work 26 miles from where we live so that we can live in a house rather than a tiny flat.

Even if you're right (I mean you don't have a proof), I can't see sth wrong about it. This lad - and thats what he's saying - he's not just living there, he's making a statement. So, you might be right with your initial assumption, but the message is just as good as before. Think about it: this guy paid 4.000 british pounds to realize this project. Due to the project he and the housing problem gain attention. And wouldn't that be something we want and _poor people_ wouldn't be able to afford?

@@mariokrings utter nonsense, poor people want and deserve a proper house like everyone else. Stop the immigration like we asked for with Brexit, not triple it, and maybe you can start to attempt to address the problem without putting everyone in rabbit hutches. This isn't the plan for a 'minority poor', in a society where you'll "own nothing but be happy", we are all poor and we are all living in shoe boxes. Its not a good idea at all, its dodgy conditioning by rich grifters, these videos rarely show anyone who actually lives in these homes

That isn't far from me there used to be a Russian tank there called 'Stompie' which was parked there for many many years with it's gun pointed in the direction of the local council offices because the owner of the land was refused planning commission to build there and it is about one and a half miles from Delboy and Rodney land maybe even closer if you include East street market which I beleive was the real theme for 'Only fools and horses' another thing is the writers got many of their idea's from the New kent road area for example Rodney street and other names which isn't exactly Peckham.

I live around the corner from this 'installation', it is on 'Mandela Way' off Old Kent Road about a mile from London Bridge. This replaced the 'T-34' Tank which had been on the site for about 25 years. You mentioned 'Delboy and Rodney' , they lived a mile to the south in Peckham.

Unfortunately, in London, we have rich investors from other countries like China, Russia, Middle East that buy properties (especially new builds) and then leave them unoccupied so that they increase in price.
Plus we have a lot of illegal migrants that authorities have to house and that also causes a shortage of low income housing.

Its quite simple the people in charge own property, and building more property devalues that property so they restrict building to increase the price of their assets, this includes government buildings and hospitals etc which are owned by billionaires who rent the buildings to the government its where a lot of tax money goes.

It’s not just rent prices that are insane in central London, it’s leasehold charges as well after buying an average 1/2/3 bedroom ExCouncil authority flat in zone 2/3 or 4. I was born in Bethnal Green in east London but after I moved out from my family home after my mum and sister died I couldn’t afford to live in Bethnal Green where I grew up. Gentrification changed everything and people like me either died or moved further out to be able to afford somewhere to live. I was one of the lucky ones because I was able to buy a property in Essex but many people who was born in Bethnal Green and places like that in London was forced to move out because of excessive rents rises and displaced to another part of the U.K. they have no connection with which would be detrimental to their mental health. But that’s progress for ya.

Londoners aren't really true Londoners anymore as they commute from up to 60 miles away to afford decent homes.A single bedroom apartment averages £1320 nationally but over £2k a month in London which rules out anyone who earns an average salary. London property unfortunately is a magnet for global speculators and criminals to park their money in eg the more money you spend 5:01 on property the less questions that estate agents (realtors) or lawyers will ask about your sources of wealth.
