A lot of goaltenders that go to the Bruins seem to improve a lot because of the team defense the Bruins. Ullmark's numbers improved substantially when he left Buffalo and came to Boston. Korpisalo very well could perform well with the Bruins. He actually had decent numbers the one year he was with LA who had a decent defense that year. If that happens his trade value will definitely go up. The problem with Bussi being a backup right now is that he is better playing more games in Providence to improve further.
The Bruins do indeed make new additions that are lesser players look better. However, while Ullmark may have improved going to Boston from Buffalo he was by no means garbage when he was playing in Buffalo, sporting no worse than a 0.915 save percentage while there.

Looking at the trade with fresh eyes, a day later I still think it is atrocious. No offense to Korpisalo, who I refuse to call the Sallow Corpse, but he is not a suitable backup.

There's just no justification to do this trade for this return. It's pretty obvious now that Boston must have just decided we want a first this year and we'll take whatever else we can get. I mean look at what Detroit just had to give up to move a good dman who had a cap hit of 3.4. They had to give up a second. We took on 3 million of Korpi it feels like for free. The return for Ullmark should have been a first plus. And the plus we got made no sense. So we save pretty much nothing on the cap. 3 for Korpi, .835 for Kastelic. So 3.835 instead of 5. For a worse goalie and a guy that plays the same role as Beecher. Makes literally no sense to me. You didn't sign Swayman first so Swayman has more leverage now. You didn't address any of the issues you had and created others. Korpi signed for 4 years so your goalie prospects are basically frozen now. You picked up another depth 4th liner which means you probably aren't going to sign 1 of Maroon or Boqvist. Boqvist in particular you got great value from and only have to qualify but unless the plan is to move Brazeau up to 3rd line it doesn't make much sense to sign either of those other two guys. Also makes it even harder for your Providence guys to try and crack the lineup. Maybe 2-3 years from now this trade makes you better. Today it makes your worse and it makes you worse in just a baffling way.

It's not the best trade. Sens still won't make the playoffs so it's not hurting the bruins. As good as ullmark is he can't save a dumpster fire. Ullmark himself said he wanted his next deal right away cuz he knows his numbers won't be as good with the senators defense in front of him. We don't need korpisalo but the same goalie coach that turned ullmark into a stud will do it with korpasalo and we' ll trade him. Bussi will come up and we will get more out of mark than the sens ever imagined. And most likely ullmark will sign long term and retire after but him alone will not get you a cup, he's a good help but the sens are still a dumpster fire. So Ontario can laugh all it wants while yanks have canadian teams hanging they're skates up early. 😅

Jonas Korpisalo value is underestimated. It will be interesting to see how he performs in a team with excellent defense like Boston.
