It’s great that you are reviewing excellent classic films. Thank you. I’m looking forward to the 4K disc release, hopefully soon, now that the 4K restoration is playing in theaters.
Thank you! I always love doing these retro reviews, especially of movies that came out long before Jaws and Star Wars. Criterion will actually be releasing Seven Samurai and the original Godzilla on 4K in November!
@@AlexanderRobinsonMovieReviews oh wow, I did not know that, and I even have the Criterion Channel subscription and the Ingmar Bergman Cinema Box Set (greatest home video release ever!) Thank you. My dream is for Criterion to release a Kurosawa Box Set which is as good as their Ingmar Bergman Box Set. By the way, they have Hesei era Godzilla films streaming on Criterion Channel right now.
How can a movie that is in the 4x3 format, Black and White, and in Japanese with subtitles, be one of if not THE best movies ever made? Well...Akira Kurosawa really knows what he is doing behind the camera, and he has really competent people helping him. I have "Seven Samurai", along with "Yojimbo", "Sanjuro", "The Hidden Fortress", "Throne Of Blood", "Ran", "Rashomon", "Kagemusha" and his Russian financed film "Dersu Uzala" in Blu-Ray in my collection. Kurosawa is the Japanese version of John Ford, Sergio Leone and a little bit of George Lucas, all rolled into one.

True cinematic masterpiece.
Great review Alex and take care and stay safe 👍.
The restored version is 207 minutes which was surprising...
There is also the last samauri with Tom cruise which is also really good
What was that original idea for his backstory?
