as much as i'd love to see the reunion between truman and sylvia, its so poignant that we don't see truman as soon as he leaves, he finally gets his privacy and his own life.
The era they put him in, like the 50's or 60's, was before the technology of cameras that could do this, so he would never be able to detect them, it wasn't even something he could conceive. This movie was so insightful, predicting the reality TV culture that hadn't yet happened at the time, giving an unheeded warning to what it could become, and then a glimmer of hope at the end, that people do want better than this, fingers crossed.
My wife and I saw _The Truman Show_ in 1998 when we spent the day with her brother in San Francisco. The City By The Bay with its fantastic architecture looked like a Hollywood set that had been constructed the day before we arrived and would be disassembled the day after. It was the perfect unreal setting for watching this movie about unreality.
Cable Guy is another Jim Carrey movie that pulled away from the wild comedy he was known for before. Eternal Sunshine is good. Those two and Truman are my favourite Carrey films.
It's good to note that no one, no actor on the show had the intention of interfering in the situation because if the show ended their salaries would be interrupted, a sad fact that often happens in everyday life.
Just loving ur moms reactions to movies!! Reminds me of when I watched movies with my mom and how into she got! Personally I love Jim in the movie Number 23.. I like it cause it's a thriller and jim plays a few different characters.. I know some dont care for it but I think it's cool lol
The film is like a feature length Twilight Zone Episode where Jim Carrey is the only True Man on a Scripted Reality Show created by a Man with a Christ complex aptly named Christof
Love the acting of Jim here, but the acting of Ed Harris here is soo good, he is creep, all the way he moves and does, he is God in this world, and a brutal lie, they didnt record the life of a person, because they made script for him, they didnt let fall in love with the one he like, they made him married a woman who he didnt like, the made up his fears, and cut the things that he likes that made him leave, Ed Harris said that the Truman could leave when ever he want, but they always interfere when he want to explore or try to leave,
I was adopted, so my viewpoint is if Truman wasn't selected for the show, his mother would have aborted him. The end is awful, but Truman always had an entire production crew and cast to keep him safe. Even while being scared, he was safe. Truman probably moved in with Sylvia and made a fortune with advertising.
This film won Ed Harris a lot of awards for Supporting Actor. It was nominated for three Oscars, Best Supporting Actor Ed Harris, Best Director Peter Weir and Best Original Screenplay. Carrey wasn’t nominated and it didn’t win any of them. Jim Carrey won the Golden Globe for Actor in a Comedy or Musical (not drama, which they were hoping for,) and Best Actor from the Dallas-Ft. Worth Film Critics Association Awards and that’s really it. Philip Glass won more awards for Best Score than Jim Carrey had nominations.
Love Paul Giamatti, the second unit director, and highly recommend All Is Bright (2013) in which he stars besides Paul Rudd. (Two French Canadian ne'er-do-wells travel to New York City with a scheme to get rich quick selling Christmas trees. Easygoing charmer Rene (Paul Rudd) clashes with misanthropic ex-con Dennis (Paul Giamatti), whose wife Rene just stole. Still, this odd couple must make an honest go of it in this buddy comedy).

I don't know about other shows but the Real World started about 6 years prior to that. Of course, nothing like what it is today.
I think that the big studio is set in the 60s but the outside world is set in the 2000s or something

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind is a must!!!!!
It's on the list! 😊
Jim Carrey also played a serious role in The Number 23. Additionally his role in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is brilliant.
also The Majestic
Yes another vote for Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind! Think you would enjoy it x
Fantastic movie, ahead of its time, right at the beginning of reality TV. Loved your reactions.
I absolutely recommend Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Jim Carrey is excellent in it. The story and the way the movie is made is brilliant.
I hope you watch pleasantville sometime, kind of reminds me of this movie in some ways, I think you’d enjoy it as well
Definitely Definitely check out Eternal Sunshine! All-star cast, stellar performances, entrancing score.
Absolutely watch Eternal Sunshine. It's one of my favorite films.
TRIVIA - Jim Carrey and Ed Harris never met during the entirety of making this film.
That scene where the boat crashed into the wall was filmed at Universal Studios.
The Truman Show! Spiritual predecessor of Roy!
Finish the Wanda/Truman 50’s Nuclear Family theme with Pleasantville.
Cable Guy is another Jim Carrey movie that pulled away from the wild comedy he was known for before. Eternal Sunshine is good. Those two and Truman are my favourite Carrey films.
This is my favorite Jim Carrey movie. Another good dramatic movie of his I like is The Number 23, hope y’all decide to watch this one too.
It's good to note that no one, no actor on the show had the intention of interfering in the situation because if the show ended their salaries would be interrupted, a sad fact that often happens in everyday life.
All the cameras are in plain sight: all those dark dome "decorations" on the architecture, trash cans, etc. And jewelry, of course.
I vote for eternal sunshine. You’ll love it!!
Christoph's got one heck of a lawsuit coming to him.
Should watch "Pollock". Ed Harris plays painter Jackson Pollock. Nominated for an academy award for that film.
Eternal Sunshine is my favorite movie.... ever. Truman Show is actually 2nd.
Another good serious Jim Carrey movie is I Love You Phillip Morris from 2009.
The Majestic is also phenomenal!
Definitely watch Eternal Sunshine, i fee like it's a perfect companion piece to this movie
I love watching along with the two of you 😂, I will watch whatever the two of you watch 😊- wishing you both the very best ❤😊
A really Insane Psychological thriller with Jim Carrey is : THE NUMBER 23
ah! the millennium era! the concept of reality/simulation were so debated back then,
I'm curious about what I might see in the year 2999!

Go check out Being There, which was the last great film of Peter Sellers.
Love the acting of Jim here, but the acting of Ed Harris here is soo good, he is creep, all the way he moves and does, he is God in this world, and a brutal lie, they didnt record the life of a person, because they made script for him, they didnt let fall in love with the one he like, they made him married a woman who he didnt like, the made up his fears, and cut the things that he likes that made him leave, Ed Harris said that the Truman could leave when ever he want, but they always interfere when he want to explore or try to leave,
He's a fantastic villain!
@@Flix2Us Yes he did a great job when you hate a character is because he did a good job
I’d love to see you guys react to “The Hours”. Ed Harris has a great small role in the film that you would love

It would be interesting to see you guys check out UK taskmaster
It's a shame that Jim Carrey wasn't nominated for an Oscar.

Those old ladies with the Truman pillows, I bet they're glad they seen the ending in their lifetimes.
How old is the son?
How's it going?
Great! Hope you're doing well.
