  • Arcteryx's latest offering from their LEAF collection (Law Enforcement Armed Forces) is the Alpha LT Gen 2, which is updated from its civilian iteration into a more capable and versatile jacket.
I truly believe this is possibly the best all around shell on the market. Watch and learn why.

Great video, thanks for sharing, it's the only video i found, snooping around on the net, for the Gen 2, but no wonder considering the price! Can you comment on the weight? Can/Will you use it on autumn/spring "rainy" situations?

The fabric that Arcteryx lists on their site for this jacket is GORE-TEX BD450 and GORE-TEXT L&F... which doesn't mean anything to me, because no other site references that fabric... nor does Gore itself. Does the packaging state if it is "GoreTex Pro" or "GoreTex Classic" or "GoreTex XCR"?

It looks to big for you. I’am 5”11 180 lbs 42 inch (107cm) chest, i use a size M, i can still have a t-shirt + sweaters + down jacket underneath the alpha. I believe that the size large is about 3 inches larger in chest circumference, it would be too big for me.

    It's not a mid-layer.

It is not an outer layer either. So short and light yet so expensive!

Chris T. It most certainly is an outer layer. One of the best on the market.

    Dear Arcteryx
I owned the arcteryx theta ar and used the jacket for 2 years each day and washing the jacket each 2 months with grangers and after the 2 years zippers are broken and the laminate glue coming loose from the fabric.
I’m very disappointed in the quality for the price arcteryx asking for the jacket €649, absolutely not worthy. And after sending it to arcteryx it came back without replacing the jacket just glued together and this happens in the first month after the 2 Years warranty.
    Shame on arcteryx netherlands
How is this jacket Arc’Teryx alpha Leaf jacket is it better made than the allround arcteryx line. Or is it the same bullshit.
I like the design and idea of this arcteryx alpha leaf gen 2 is it worthy the money.

Too short (note how the guy pulled down the jacket three or four times at least), noisy, not IRR, pockets in the wrong position if you carry a backpack. Its an ovepriced product good for dandies.

Frank Brown pockets don't impede with backpack straps. The material is noisy but it's much less so than other GTX pro shells.
The LEAF version has a hem to work with a utility belt.
This is specific jacket is used by 90% of US and Canadian Special Forces.

You did your best, but... this is a jacket that could be designed by Dolce & Gabbana, not A.
Look at the unsurpassed jump smock weared by german fallschirmjager during ww2. You got what is actually needed. (it is looooong, it really protects you, it allows free movement it's jumpable and it was made to work with an utility belt too!!!) See: www.warlordgames.com/painting-deciphering-fallschirmjager-uniforms/
C'mon A. give us poor outdoormen something that really fits our need!

You're trying really hard but failing.

I am afraid the only thing is failing is this jacket. Sorry.
P.S. get a look here: www.sohnitactical.com/products/sr-jacket-gen-i They say: "The overall design of the jacket is wide and extra length is added to provide comfort and functionality". Exactly what a real outoorsman looks for.
