NAH. the live Pinback thing is just as special as the recordings. the different arrangements allow you to fall in love with these songs again. they breathe a more celebratory quality into these otherwise mechanical and melancholic songs . it makes all the sense in the world for their live approach and is part of what makes Pinback so great.
Saw them in Mpls and their tshirt from the tour literally says I WENT AND SAW PINBACK AND THEY PLAYED EVERYTHING I WANTED TO HEAR A LITTLE FAST :) with stick figures of two guys saying, "SORRY!" :)
I think Rob is important too, his vocals are clutch, but no he's not the instrumentalist Zack is... But wtf is really? But yeah he's a little messy. But singing and playing is a bitch. Takes a lot of practice to nail it down really tight, and even then spend some time under stage lights sweating your balls off and you might not be at 100% still.

Guitar player really does suck.. i thought for a while HE was the guy, but I certainly was wrong.. it's all about the bass ... guy..
