2 years later... love it! Love the evaluation graph. Is there a place on the site where they are all posted? I'm watching through your playlist, loving it all! The comparison clips at the end are especially valuable, thanks!
Racing tires on a Ford Focus is the best analogy, and exactly why I've been struggling with finding a sweet spot of price/performance, as a musician with a developed ear, who also only just started learning violin/fiddle six months ago. To my ear, the Fiddlerman strings sound slightly darker than the dominants, with less projection, which I kind of love
I just put these strings on my violin last night and for once I was not intimidated. I have a fear when changing strings that I will break something but these strings boosted my confidence because they are so flexible when putting them on. They do not feel like cheap strings and I also loved the sound my violin makes which is very warm and dark and I like it.
I am looking to replace strings and I like the darker sound of the Fiddlerman strings. I liked the D'addario Zyex as well. To me they sounded very similar. I don't have a well trained ear yet. Can someone confirm if these sets are somewhat similar?
These strings sound great at first, very much like dominants and only for $32 on amazon. But after just 3-4 months of 3-5 hours of practice per week the strings will start to unravel, esp the A string. I recommend instead the Pirastro Tonica at the same price point, which I've had for more than the same period and those haven't started unraveling yet.
Hi Souvik! Your mileage may vary, but I often used to go back and forth between Evahs and Vision Solo Titanium, they used to seem comparable with slightly longer lifespan, and then I also really like the lifespan of Thomastik PI strings.Let me know what you discover :-)
The Ascente' do not sound as voluminous are the Fiddlerman strings. The Fiddlerman strings sound very nice. And Michael, it might sound creepy to know where you live but we need to know so we can drop in unannounced with beer, steaks and violins because, well, that's how we roll. 🙂
He he... I can see Mr Fiddlerman in the background holding a Tuba to put your head in it as punishment... LOL But I can't blame you, he is your boss after all. They do sound pretty good to a novice.
With all due respect, you could have made this video a lot shorter. Just play the clips, say "these are half the price of Dominants," and walk out. You'd be guaranteed to sell a ton, and for a lot less effort. 😄

Hi! Which strings do you recommend that have a clear tone like the Eva Pirazzi but that don’t need changing out the strings as frequently? Thanks!
