Rosalie, hey-o from Cali! First, this was a beautiful song. I've never heard this artist and I will definitely listen to more. Next, I got a strong vibe that the father had some kind of dementia, or alzheimer's, both conditions that cause a person to lose themselves. If you've never experienced a parent or grandparent forgetting who you are, or lashing out at you like a child (which is not uncommon), I'm sure you can imagine how painful and frustrating it can be. The scene where he has to run away to scream out his emotions....I've been that guy, in my case with my grandparents. You cant let those feelings out in the home, so you run far away so you cant be heard by anyone. And it seemed to me that as he looked at his son (I believe this to be a generational story) he must have been wondering "Will I forget you?" What a terrifying thing for any parent to consider! And definitely in these situations, the child becomes the parent, and that is SO HARD!!! I'll never forget watching my mother scold her father like he was a toddler, because that's exactly how he was behaving! It is an excruciating situation for anyone to live with, and this song seemed to portray it beautifully...and sadly. Thank you again Rosalie, this was a good one. Love and hugs to you and yours...❤😊

I believe in the end the son was the young man and the old man was his father. Who had dementia. I recognized it in his eyes. My grandparents in laws both had it and it took over ten years for them to pass on. I spent tons of time with them when they did not even know who I was anymore. It was heartbreaking.

There are a couple of things that make this song and video hit even harder than it does. First, this song is one that brought Jon into songwriting when he was young. The emotions it made him feel inspired him to want to bring that to others himself. Second, it looks as if, in the music video, that the grandparent/father has dementia, which has effected Jon as well. He has voiced his opinion on what dementia does to a person and a family in multiple songs. I recommend listening to Ma's Joint by Jon, which is about his grandmother suffering from dementia and his mother taking care of her.

New song from While She Sleeps called “To The Flowers”. Indy rock/metal band that produced and shot their own music video.
Whew it’s pure emotion and right up this alley with a story about humans.
Just an idea to toss out there for ya in the future. Great reaction as always.

I love how human you are to the core.
If you havent already, you should watch Emma Kok's performance from a few months back, its about 7 minutes long with the intro of her and i think you would very much appreciate it.
I should mention its in french, there are translated versions but id suggest the intro one without and maybe read the translation before so you understand the general idea of whats said while you just feel whats being said exactly as she performs it.

I loved how the song and video showed the simplicity of life as well as the message it was portraying. Love Switchfoot’s but this one made it seem like an orchestra playing alongside the life we were meant to live.
It takes me to the Bible in John 10:10 “the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy; but I (Jesus) have come to give them life and life more abundantly.” The Evil One has taken the simplicity of our humanity and divided us against each other that now there are some that don’t know how to identify with humanity stripping them from “created in the likeness of God.
The Maker of all things loves and wants us. He created us for more and yes life is hard and bad things happen which I do not say lightly. But in my darkest hour … when I was writing the letters … when I was going to complete my life … The Maker of all things sent a dog that no one wanted to stop me. The Maker of all things knew only an animal could be used to teach me where humans only hurt me.

My interpretation of the video is this: the younger adult is the father and the child is his son, who means the world to him. The older gentleman is the grandfather who has dementia and now wants deeply to connect with his grandson but the father is keeping him at arms length because of an abusive past relationship between the two, pre-dementia. He wakes up in the middle of the night after having a nightmare of a fight he and his father had years prior and goes on a jog to get out all of the energy and adrenaline At the end of the video, he finally decides to forgive his father for the betterment of his family and spends the final moments reveling in how much he truly loves his son. Just my interpretation.

They are using Autotune on his voice. I can hear it. And there is some pitch correction applied to.
They do it to everyone now. It's a shame really. Because he has a good voice.

The obvious auto tune ruins this for me. I can’t help wondering what his voice sounds like.

    • @bobbycollins6783
      @bobbycollins6783 9 місяців тому +4

Same hear it's not very well used either. They have also used pitch correction as well.
It's just something that's done now.
And it sounds like he can sing well.
Artist's now have no say in it. It's become standard practice. People are so used to it most don't notice.
They just think that was a great run he did there.
But it wasn't him that did it.

Some artists insist on producing their own material. If the label pressures them, they go independent. Those I respect the most: Ren, Chinchilla, etc.@@bobbycollins6783
