She's not holding the shashkas firmly when doing the swings. I'm not sure if such technique is useful for fight and it is probably not very useful when training the wrist. Maybe some sabre expert might have an opinion on that.
Venc Dee, you're right these techniques are not fighting techniques, we also work on fighting and fencing techniques but here, it's just a coordination work. It's also good for the body preparation, and creativity.

Anyway I've seen other people on YT who masters the shaska (real Cossacs) very well and they generally don't let it loose in palm. As I know this is the basic principle in all martial arts that all twist by are done holding the arm (staff/sword/sabre/katana/machette/fan) firmly. Of course there are special exclusions in certain movements but they not occur too often. Therefore for me the girl's performance is still rather circus and not authentic skill.
