Practice makes perfect, we were not good when we first started camping. It’s refreshing seeing a non expert on UA-cam for a change not trying to teach you something. I was afraid you were going to chop a finger off. I’m glad that didn’t happen. Although I’m sure it would have gone viral.
Hmmm, 🤔 which digit... which digit... 😆 We all learn through our trial and effort... most just don't like to show that part of the journey. They instead want to present themselves as a fully realized guru and not show how they really got there.
How could you not know how to cook? Your a hero in my book, as a past soldier suddenly having to become a life saving medic during war time, and succeeding. Man I was ready to listen to your vinyl on your epic turntable, while you ate your dinner ~ Too funny.
Hey Mike. The taters take longer, so better to start them first, sometimes if you add a few drops of water you can steam them to help cook faster and a little more oil and or smaller pieces would help. Eventually once you get it down, you won’t even have to dirty but one skillet. Hope you are enjoying the outdoors sir. Be safe and stay well. Do you have a small Dutch oven? If not keep an eye open for one, they are great for outdoor cooking.
You could put the potatoes inside some aluminum foil with some oil (i.e., olive oil) and some seasoning (salt, pepper, and anything else that sounds good like a bottle of Italian Seasoning). Then they'll basically roast and be delicious. I usually do this in an oven, but I think you could do it in an iron pan. (You could also get an iron pot with a lid and have the same oven effect.) I find that you have to boil them first to get a good fry in a pan.
😂😂😂😂😂 you always make me laugh. My horse is definitely used to me getting back on. A lid for the potatoes sometimes helps soften (cook, lol) the potatoes. It helps create a little built up steam. You look like a real camper! 😆
It would still build a turd!! Who cares? It is just for you, and you will learn each time. Maybe start the slower cooking things first and get a really good fire going with bigger wood and create some hot coals. I liked the video, thanks!!
Watch some UA-cam videos first, it's what I do for just about everything these days, lol. Bacon is good because it provides grease for cooking the eggs, flavors the potatoes, prevents sticking and seasons the pan all at the same time. And thin is faster than diced in my experience. Good luck!

So true!
It was so funny when you spit out thr potato, lol!🤣 Practice makes perfect, next time it will be delicious!😂😋🤭🫣
That made me laugh too!

Outside of grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, my cooking mishaps are notoriously bad! It's my kryptonite! 😆

I left the dutch oven I had with a friend thinking that it would be too much food for one person to eat.

Okay. I'll try this.
You can just throw the foil covered potato in the fire too. I forgot about that.

Hey "PB/Paul Bunion",,, You Made Me Laugh 😀 When You SPIT OUT The Tators !!!!
Oh, they were horrible! I don't think the coyotes would even eat it!
😮
I'd have to just break out the camp stove. I'll starve to death before I got it made LOL
😆

It all does end up the same, right?

Thanks for the tips!

I need fire fighting equipment first! 😆
Lololol ~ good job Mike😂
It's a good way to diet. Food no one can stomach! 🤣
Best I’ve done over a fire like that so far is hot dogs…even then, I dropped the first one.😅
🤣
Do more. Your grrreatt❤

You might want to watch "Willy's Truck Life" for some good cooking over a fire content.
I will do that.
